It has been two weeks since our first date and me and Caleb are typically inseparable during our time allotted to each other. At school Caleb consumed the role of Mark and picked me up after each class. There has only been two times when he was not at the door and Ava told me he had family matters to attend to.
I watched Mark grab his lunch and walked pass the table. It has been like this for two weeks now. He no longer attends English and he never sits with us during lunch, or hangout with us outside of school. I could see the hurt and pain in his eyes and I felt guilty. I felt Cale was taking this all too far. Before me they were close and I wanted them to be close even with me in Caleb's life.
"You should tell Mark to sit with us." I whispered to him.
Everyone stopped their conversation and turned to us. Caleb's mood instantly changed as everyone watched him carefully.m
"Leave it alone Amira," Ava said cautiously
I ignored her and grabbed his hand pulling him close. His mood slightly changed but I figured I treed lightly. Conversation steadily started back up as everyone continued their previous conversation.
"You don't understand Mira." He said not looking at me.
I rolled my eyes his comment bothering me.
"Not that it is your fault, still it's a more complex problem than you know."
I stayed quiet but irritation still filled me. Caleb glanced down at me and pulled me closer to his side trying to sate my irritation. It slightly comfort me but I wouldn't let his touch get rid of my emotions completely. I have very intention of bring this up later. Still tense I felt Caleb nudge his nose behind my ear.
I was quiet for the remainder of the day until last period when Caleb slowly backed me into the locker.
"Please stop being mad." He said feathering my face with kisses.
"I'm not mad." My voice still lined with irritation
"Why does it matter so much to you?" He said sounding angry
I pushed him away and headed to my own locker. He caught me before I could get to far and gently pulled me back to face him.
"I'm sorry…you don't fully understand the bond between us." He glanced away clearly irritated. "Hearing you care about another guy is enough to drive me mad. Especially seen how we only see each other on fixed time. Think about if you seen another girl hanging on me."
"I'd probably rip her throat out." He chuckled at my comment
"Exactly, I can only see Mark with his arm around you."
"That's different."
"How so!?" He instantly became irritated again
I quickly turned to walk away but he did let me move and inch. Instead I felt my back smash into him.
"I didn't mean to raise my voice at you."
"It's different because I didn't understand the bond between us, and he didn't know." I spit the statement out, stepping out of his reach and continuing the way to my locker.
I walked slowly with him trailing behind me quietly. After I finished trading out books i looked to him.
"Mark was is your friend, and the whole time he was with me he never made move on me. The only thing he ever did was protect me and made sure I was safe."
I slammed my locker and headed to the exit. For the first time we approached the group wit distance between us, and believe me it was noticed. Every one peered at us but tried to pretend they didn't by quickly resuming their conversation. I leaned against the bike rack and watch as Mark grabbed his stuff and began to walk off. Caleb leaned next to me still giving me distance. He glanced at me before quickly speaking up.
"Wait." His toe full with authority had everyone stopping and abiding his mand.
Mark was included as he stood with his back to the group.
"I'm not going to rip our throat out," he said said as his teeth glistened with his sarcasm. "You can stay."
Though I know it was for my benefit I still smiled slightly in triumph. I knew I couldn't be to smug or it might come back to bite me in the ass. When we broke our stare we looked to see the shock on everyone's face, Marks turned to the group and bowed his head slightly as he took a spot furthest from us.
"So should we walk to the Dairy Queen I cold go for a hot dog." Alex instantly broke the tension as he spoke
"I'm in." Lexi spoke making her presence know as she instantly appeared.
As annoyed as everyone gets with her it was hard for me to understand whether let he tag along all the time. I asked Caleb and he told me the use to all hang out as kids. As they got older Lexi hung out more with the humans which changed her. Still he and the others acknowledged her as one of them. Still she irritated me to the ends of the earth. All Caleb could say was for me to assert my dominance. What ever that meant. We began heading in the direction of daily we queen. Caleb pulled me closer to his side igniting that feeling that has been missing since I pulled away from him. And I turned my nose at Lexi as she dealt me a dirty loo. Still inside I was happy I know they're not back to then way they use to be but this was start.
