Chapter 23 - The Morning

Between the Kingdom of Prayag and Army Camp of Prince Shantanu was barren wasteland devoid of any sign of life. This barren wasteland stretched from the outer fort of the kingdom of Prayag to all the way to the border of a small forest near Kingdom.

The kingdom of Prayag was by one side surrounded by a dense forest and on the other side it had a huge wasteland that used to be crowded with people who were either trying to enter into the kingdom or was there just to sell something, but that was all before the Prince's Army made their base at one part of the wasteland.

Legends had that once the whole barren wasteland was a part of that forest that was near the kingdom, filled with all kind of giant trees and wild animals before the establishment of the Prayag Kingdom. Even the area where Prayag Kingdom was established was also part of that forest but not as dense as rest of the forest and on that part lived some tribes.

But it all changed when a prince of an ancient clan along with some soldiers of the clan rebelled against his elder brother, the head of that ancient clan.

But in the end the rebellion failed as the soldiers along with the young prince were captured. The head of the ancient clan respecting the bond and blood between the brothers spared his younger brother's life along with his followers but as a punishment he along with his followers were banished from the clan.

The younger brother was filled with hatred for his brother and still unsatisfied. After throwing out of the clan he came up with a plan, he needed soldiers for his army if he were to attack an ancient clan, so he planned to attack some tribes and control them first as a method to get some soldiers for his army. Along with his followers he entered into the forest in search of those tribes and after few years he succeeded in winning and controlling the tribes either by force or by making relationships with them like marrying daughters of the tribe chiefs. Eventually he even build up a tribe kingdom by combining all the tribes in the forest.

There at the peak of his good times he had sons wives as well as a tribe kingdom made up of all the tribes to rule on, but he still couldn't forget the life and the power he had while being a prince of an ancient clan as well as the reason he did all of that. So he once again thought of attacking the ancient clan but with a different method.

The plan was to attack the ancient clan and kill as many soldiers as they can with bow and arrows or other projectile weapons they had while hiding among the trees. The tribe kingdom was well hidden inside the forest giving the tribe kingdom protection as well as upper hand if someone were to enter the forest for attacking them.

Everything was going well and good at starting when they attacked the clan's soldiers, the banished prince was even winning but everything went south when his soldiers almost killed the son of head of the ancient clan, who was commanding the army that time as a preparation for his conquest journey which he was soon going to began.

When the head of the ancient clan heard his son being injured severally, he was furious as he himself lead his whole clan army and in search of enemy soldiers started cutting everything in their way. Soon they reached the tribe kingdom.

The ancient clan head in rage destroyed almost all the tribe kingdom as well as killing his brother that time blinded in rage. He was even going to kill his sons but just as his eyes fall onto his brothers children he fall on the ground looking at him. He cried there for days in sorrow in loss of his younger brother.

In the end he invited his young brother's windows and children to the clan but he was refused by the elders of the tribes.

It was said that then he made a fort around all of the tribe kingdom as strong as no one had ever been able to penetrate that fort as to protect the bloodline of his brother. He was also the first one who started trading with that tribe kingdom and slowly and steadily developing it as a full fledged kingdom.

....

Early in the morning, at one side of the wasteland stood a vast army in a battle ready formation. A reddish yellow ground spread before their eyes devoid of almost all greenery. It was as though the land was welcoming those combatants of the upcoming war onto itself.

Before Prince Shantanu's army occupied some area of that wasteland, the wasteland was occupied by some wannabe wanderers as they had built some huts here and there. But they were destroyed, jutted out from the earth. So nothing was left there intact except some debris was everywhere.

The sun shone on the land which replaced the cold and silent darkness of the previous night.

On the other side of the barren land was built some structures giving that wasteland the sign of live.

The structure were built with huge logs and huge piece of clothes, that look totally out of place seeing the surroundings as they were nowhere to be found on the surrounding land. A sturdy looking metal walls of a man's height that seemed to deny passage to everything in its vicinity were stood surrounding those structures. Around that sturdy looking metal wall stood some soldiers carrying spears in their hands. They stood outside that wall to alarm against some invited or unknowns.

On the other side of the wall flew countless flags hoisted on long spears and seems like dancing with the wind. All.of these flags were same and had insignia of Kashyapa Clan on them.

Behind that sturdy looking metal wall was the army of the Kashyapa Clan which prince Shantanu had brought with himself on his conquest journey.
