Chapter 3 - The Kyoshi Warriors

Zokai paced the deck. They were on their way to Kyoshi island. Apparently the Avatar was last seen there. It would take a bit but they could get there in an hour if they went full speed, but Iroh wanted to give Zuko time to calm himself down. The old man finally made his move. Zokai sat down and looked. It seemed as if Iroh was going to win again. Zokai could swear that tea was messing with him… he made his move and Iroh raised his eyebrow.

"You need to take more time to think, Zokai. If you did, you could have turned this game around so many times." Iroh moved another piece and completely trapped Zokai's few remaining forces."When you take extra time to gather your thoughts you make better decisions." The boy nodded and moved another piece which Iroh quickly removed. Zokai groaned and began drinking a ton of water to distill what was in that tea. Iroh only laughed at his attempts. "If you can take one of my pieces I'll let you win." Zokai began concentrating but couldn't see anything so he tried to move his piece to a better position to take three of Iroh's pieces at once. Iroh quickly dispatched it. Zokai stood, "Ok this is bs. I'm done for now." He left the laughing Iroh behind and looked in the direction of Kyoshi Island. He breathed in the sea air and could smell the salt water they were gliding to. He knew the Avatar was there. Would he take Zuko's place and fight him? Probably not. He'd just hold off the Kyoshi Warriors and let Zuko get his ass beat again. For character development and nothing else.

After a few hours, it had turned noon and they were closing in on the island. Zuko came onto the deck and the crew began preparing to dock. Zokai put on his breastplate and that helmet with the mask. He liked how it looked so every time he wore a helmet he put the mask on too. They hopped off with their small force of just 15 people. Iroh had decided to stay again, it seemed like he never fought off the ship unless he was forced to. Zokai knew how strong the old man was. Not stronger than him of course, but probably rival to Ozai himself. They neared the village on their war rhino things and all of them shot a volley of fireballs at the buildings. Zokai flew up and began to summon lightning. He flew high up and started raining bolts anywhere and everywhere, only stopping when a blue and white boomerang smacked into his face and lodged itself in his mask. Zokai dropped back to the floor and tossed the helmet aside. Three Kyoshi Warriors began to rush him so he pulled the spartan sword he had brought. He instantly threw the sword and pinned one of the warriors to a wall. "Hey what's your name?" He asked. The warriors ignored him. He didn't usually talk but he had to up the word count.

Zokai summoned a fire dagger and ran to meet the girls. He blasted himself over them and using the fire dagger, shot a thin stream of orange flames at one of them. She easily dodged and tackled him mid air and threw him through a window. She hopped in after him and her friends came through the door. They brandished their fans, and ran at him.

Zokai caught one of their arms as they attacked and flipped her over. The second girl threw a kick to his face and the third tried to swipe at his legs. Zokai used his flames to blast himself up again and grabbed the second girl's leg in the process. He smashed her through the ceiling and threw her across the street and through the ceiling of another house. Zokai blasted back down. He stepped on one of the warrior's shoulders, and smashed her into the floorboards. The last girl slashed at him but Zokai propelled himself back and shot forward again, tackling her. They did a short roll and Zokai lifted her up and Batista bombed her into a table. She had successfully cut his breastplate down the middle but failed to actually cut him.

"Damn I'm so rusty. Need to freshen up on my hand to hand combat." Zokai blasted through the hole in the roof to see Zuko get blasted away by a powerful blast of wind from Aang. Zokai jumped down and released an arc of blue flames, making the Avatar jump back. Just as Zokai was about to fire a combustion blast, his legs were swiped out from under him and he fell to the floor. He blasted away and looked up to Suki's knee an inch from his face. He caught it then grabbed her stomach and smashed her into the floor. She rolled away and stood up. Zokai knew the Avatar had already escaped so he focused on the girl in front of him. Zuko came out of the now destroyed house and looked at him. "We need to go now, we have to follow the Avatar!" Zokai nodded and blasted lightning at Suki, sending her back. While everyone else rode that war rhino thing, Zokai flew ahead and tried to close in on the Avatar but decided to go back instead and take his sword. He walked in the house and saw the warriors still unconscious on the floor where he left them. He crept through the room and found the sword under a bit of the collapsed roof. He walked back outside to see all the fires out and everything drenched in water. He flew back to the ship to find Zuko and the men, also soaked. Zokai almost laughed if not for the anger spelled on the prince's face. Iroh now decided to make his entrance.

"So i'm guessing it didn't go too well?" Zuko began to dry himself and looked at his uncle. "Would have been much better if you had helped." Iroh only sighed and took a glance at Zokai and back at Zuko.

"If I were to do everything for you, you'd never grow. This is why I tell you to train hard at your skills." Zuko still looked angry so Iroh continued. "Don't worry too much about it, every failure is a lesson. If you are not willing to fail, you're not ready to succeed." Zuko had calmed down a bit and stalked back to his room and yelled to start following the Avatar, who was already out of sight. Zookai couldn't help but think of Zuko as just a little kid, and in a lot of ways he was. Good thing Iroh was with them, or Zuko may have melted down the ship just cause he lost against who's supposed to be the strongest bender. Iroh patted Zokai's back and gestured over to the tea and Pai Sho board.

"Remember, have patience with all things, but most importantly, yourself. They sat down. Zokai avoided the tea and began to plan his first move.
