Then she kept running.
"Ah!"
One of them got hit by her shoe and let out a cry of pain, but he wasn't annoyed, instead he grabbed her shoe and quickened his pace to chase her, "Girl, now you've really pissed us off."
The footsteps of those guys sounded closer and closer; Ji Anning's heart was pounding so hard it felt like it might jump out. She kept running, all the while scanning her surroundings.
In the middle of nowhere, only the village not far off had lights. Barefoot, she could only run in that direction.
"Beauty, don't run."
In a matter of minutes, those people caught up to her, and one of them grabbed her arm.
She jerked free with brute force, "Get lost!"
Then she turned around, facing away from the guys and took several steps back in retreat.
She was right in front of them, but the guys didn't rush anymore; they slowly closed in.
Three guys, about her age, with ridiculously dyed hair, walking with exaggerated swagger; they were obviously troublemakers.
