When Chloe left the hair salon, she got into her car but didn't drive off. Jeremy wasn't sure how long she was going to stay there, so he hurried to the passenger's seat and tried to open it, but it didn't budge the first time. Chloe wanted to lock him out? For real? But if she didn't want to talk to him, she wouldn't have come here in the first place and she would have driven off. But she was still there. He was hopeful.
Chloe turned to glare at him but eventually pressed a button inside, to open the door for him to get in. As soon as he sat down, she spoke while looking ahead.
"I cannot believe you tricked me and I fell for it."
"I didn't trick you! I was going to cut my hai—"
When she turned to give him a dark glare, he stopped talking and shrunk into his seat. After a moment of silence, he started,
"You stopped talking to me! What would you have had me do?"
"Not trick me at least." She snapped at him.
"Be honest with me, Chloe." He narrowed his gaze to look at her.
"Are you dating me because of my hair?"
"What?" She asked in disbelief.
"Because you seem to like my hair more than me. You refused to talk to me for days, but one threat about cutting my hair, you did not only respond to my text, but you also arrived immediately. You like my hair more than you like me?"
"So what if I like you because of your hair?"
He gasped, "That is mean!"
She couldn't stop the laugh that escaped her lips despite how annoyed she was. "Well, I'm mad at you, so maybe I have a good reason not to want to talk to you."
"Do you know how many times I have been pissed at you? But I still talk to you!"
"This is different!"
"How is it different?!"
"We've been together for a year, Jer. One year." She said softly before sighing and looking out the window by her side. "I just... well..."
"What is it?" Jeremy asked curiously. It was weird to see Chloe looking less confident in whatever she wanted to say and she was looking that way right now.
Chloe still did not look at him, but she turned to look at the windscreen of the car.
"I think... maybe you don't find me attractive?" She said in a quiet voice. "I read that guys who find a lady genuinely attractive do not hesitate to... you know... to want to feel her up. But you, well... you always give excuses and run away, and I think it's because you don't find me attractive."
"ARE YOU INSANE? Everyone knows I love you!" He raised his voice at her in disbelief. How could she think that? If not her, which other lady did he find attractive?
She finally turned to look at him. "I am not talking about love okay! I am talking about attraction. A lot of couples love their spouses but they are no longer attracted to them and that's why some cheat on them but still do not leave them. So maybe you love me, but you are no longer attracted to me after having a lot of ladies, especially at your workplace, throw themselves at you." She accused and turned away.
Jeremy couldn't believe it. Chloe King, the boss lady, was insecure? She thought he didn't find her attractive? That was the greatest joke he had ever heard.
He touched her face, making her look at him directly, but she kept looking everywhere else but at him.
"I'm sorry if I made you feel that way. I am truly sorry." He said sincerely. She finally focused her gaze on his face and looked into his eyes.
"I love you. A lot. And I am attracted to you. I have been attracted to you from the first moment I saw you, but you didn't take note of me and went to date that stupid boy instead..."
A short laugh choked Chloe but Jeremy continued seriously, "Look, I don't care about any other women. I don't care about women who like me or those who admire me. All I care about is you. Who I care about... is you."
"Then why....?" She asked softly.
He remembered Maria telling him to go ahead and tell Chloe how he truly felt. Should he? Won't she laugh at him? That was embarrassing.
"It's just..." He paused.
"Do you... have a small penis?" She blurted out, shocking the hell out of him.
