Chapter 1 - Chapter 1: Beginning

My name is Khan, and I was the third eldest child of the chief Bhakar. I also had two elder brothers Bhal, and Braukr. Although it may seem that these facts are irrelevant, they will in fact be a big part of my story. But we can put that aside for, we must go back to the beginning so that you may understand.

I was a part of an orc tribe. As a whole we orcs tend to look simular to the pale ones, or as they call themselves humans, but we are bigger, and are very aggressive when we feel that our land is being invaded. We also have two tusks that come out of our lower jaws, and can make other races feel intimidated. All orcs usually have black hair, that is except for me. I and some unfortunate others were different. I had purple hair, and was far smaller than usual and had red skin, I was also just a bit bigger than an average pale one . So I wasn't given as much of a chance as normal orcs were.

The only way for me to prove myself was in battle, and the battle would be the last time I would see my family for a long time. That was 10 years ago, back when I was 18. I and many other unblodded{a term for orcs who have not killed} were preparing for the upcoming battle against the pale ones. As I prepared my battle-axe it was common for others to insult me, and laugh at me for using a two-handed weapon. Though a friend I had made called Grimgra, had always defended me and would tell them off. Grimgra wasn't the brighest, but his strength was greater than even some adults. He, like me, also was considered defective because he was just a bit different, his face was shaped differently from them. One of his eyes was as big as a pale one's fist, well his other was smaller than normal. He aslo had a physique that would put any other orc to shame, but none of them cared much cause they would mock him for his low intelligence.

Back to what was happening as most of us were ready a blooded warrior called us to attention and said "Young ones, we are going to head out within 10 mins. Whether you are prepared or not" so any orc that weren't prepared hurried as quick as their giant bodies allowed.

We would soon depart to the designated battlefield that the tribe elders chose. The journey would only take three hours, and there would be darkness to support us in our ambush. The elders assisted my father in many jobs relating mostly to the next generation or orcs. Though most elders never battled after they attained their titles.

Though this time was different, the elders, my father, and brothers had joined us. This was quite unusual as the only times the higher ups in the tribe join the unblooded is when something important is going to happen. Many of us were confused, though we didn't think much of it.

We then soon arrived at the destination, and we started to prepare for the ambush. Some hours had passed, though the pale ones never came. That was until out of nowhere arrows rained down on us, I and Grimgra were hit pretty badly. I was hit around my shoulder, and Grimgra was hit around his forearm. So for the both of us using weapons would be difficult. Though that would be the least of our worries as soon a flood of pale one came with sharp spears and would incapacitate any orcs they could. Some unlucky orcs were captured, and then collars were put upon them. These collars seemed to have symbols on them that only later would we learn were magical runes that sapped our strength. As they were captured the higherups seemed to have vanished, I would only learn later from the pales ones talks that we were led there to be sold by our own tribe. Though that wasnt how I and Grimgra were captured. Grimgra was surrounded and prodded over and over with spears and arrows, until he was eventually worn out. Meanwhile I stared ahead and all I could see was corpses and bodies of thousands from my tribe and from the pale ones. I could hear the wails and screams of the wounded begging for death. While I wasn't paying attention a pale one snuck up on me and hit me in the back of the head knocking me unconscious.

The next thing I would know was that I was waking up in a cage heading towards some giant stone thing I would later learn to be a colosseum where we would be forced to face off against all sorts of creatures just for the amusement of those weak pale one.
