Chapter 59 - The Principal's Astonishment

The arrow's strength was enough even to surprise the principal who was observing through his Spiritual Sense while rushing towards the Dueling Room.

It was an arrow shot by someone who hadn't even reached Rank 1, but it possessed lethal danger even for someone at Rank 2.

In fact, due to the trace of Death Law infused on it, it was quite dangerous even for someone stronger, but those stronger would be able to stop the arrow before being hit, nullifying the danger.

The arrow was strong, but it needed to hit the target to have an effect.

The berserk guy didn't have means to stop it, but his instincts turned like those of a beast and avoided the arrow as fast as he could.

The berserk guy rushed towards one of the nearby girls, but he immediately dodged to the side again.

His intellect couldn't understand how a second arrow came from behind him since no one was there, but his instincts were great.

However, an instant later, the arrow pierced his head.

Shiba had shot a single arrow, but that arrow had been locked on the target's soul, so no matter where he fled, the arrow would follow him until that trace of Death Law disappeared.

The berserk guy died with a single hit, but death wasn't the worst for him. His soul started to collapse, erasing any chances of reincarnation.

That guy's soul had been weakened from the skill he was using, so it was unable to resist the trace of Death Law.

As the berserk guy died, a light flew out from his body towards Shiba.

It was the skill that the guy obtained, or more exactly, the fragment of an expert's soul that feigned be just a skill to weaken the guy's soul and take over his body.

Usually, he wouldn't have dared to move to a new body after the previous host died, but he would have disappeared as he was only a soul fragment if he hadn't left.

There was no way the principal, who had been paying attention, didn't notice about that fragment of soul. Although he was still too far to prevent it from possessing Shiba's body, he had exorcism methods to prevent soul fragments from possessing his students.

It was quite usual for evil experts to use those methods, so alive experts developed their own countermeasures. Unless that soul fragment was from someone related to them, they wouldn't ignore a potential foe's resurrection.

He hadn't noticed that soul fragment before, but once it tried to change bodies, there was no way he couldn't notice.

The soul fragment knew about it, so it only hoped that the principal would have been busy with something else and didn't notice.

However, the principal wasn't the real danger for that soul fragment, and it only noticed it after entering Shiba's body.

The already damaged soul fragment was devoured in a second, and the legacy system deconstructed and created the skills contained on that fragment to make them more suitable for Shiba.

Usually, the soul was the weakest spot of any youth, but that was only among normal youths. The legacy system also had the functionality of protecting Shiba's soul, so even if Shiba were to die, his soul would survive and reincarnate.

The principal also noticed that the soul disappeared after diving into Shiba's body.

After he had detected it once, he could detect it even if it possessed someone, but a second after the soul fragment possessed Shiba, it disappeared.

For that happening, he could only think of two reasons.

If Shiba's soul was extremely powerful, it wouldn't be strange for the soul fragment to be devoured, but for a fourteen-years-old kid to have such a powerful soul, it would indicate that Shiba was a reincarnated expert, and the principal didn't feel that Shiba was one because his training speed seemed to low for that. Of course, if he knew when Shiba really started to train, he might have considered that option seriously.

The other option was that Shiba had someone of incredible strength as a background. Someone capable of protecting him from the shadows without the principal noticing or capable of giving Shiba a treasure to protect his soul.

The second option seemed the most logical for the principal.

If the one behind Shiba surpassed Rank 9, he could believe that Shiba used traces of two Laws. After all, their planet had never given birth to someone who surpassed Rank 9, but ancient experts traveled to other worlds, and thus, they had some information about them.

Those that were already Law Masters were an absolutely different level of existence, so their common sense couldn't apply to those that had already reached that level.

The principal didn't know why someone with such a powerful backing would be willing to enter his academy, but since he didn't understand how those above Rank 9 thought, he decided not to think about it.

Originally, he had planned to help Shiba to get rid of the soul fragment to win his trust. His talent was something very useful for the academy, so the principal couldn't ignore it.

However, after guessing Shiba's background, he stopped to have those thoughts.

He wasn't confident in obtaining Shiba's trust quickly if he had such a big background, and trying to become closer to him forcefully could make him leave.

He wasn't a man who acted altruistically, he wouldn't help students that weren't useful for the academy even if they died, but as long as someone was useful, he would think on the best way to use that person for the academy's benefit.

In Shiba's case, it seemed that it would be better to take a slow approach until he understood more about him.

At that moment, he didn't even know that Shiba had just joined since he never bothered to learn about new students.

"Bring me reports about Shiba. Immediately!"

He used his divine sense to send an order to his subordinates. He didn't feel like going personally to the Dueling Room anymore.

It would be bad for his reputation to appear after the student had already solved everything by himself. The principal didn't expect Shiba to kill his opponent so quickly.

As for the death of the berserk guy, the principal couldn't care less. It wasn't worth losing Shiba's trust in the academy to protect someone who deliberately broke the academy's rules, putting all the students in danger.

In fact, given how Shiba saved the other students, other students would also lose trust in the academy once the news spread if he was punished. Even if the principal didn't care about them individually, he still cared about the number.

Some of them dying wasn't a problem at all. However, losing reputation could provoke serious issues for the future.

After several hours, no one had left the Dueling Room.

A student had been killed, so leaving might be bad for them. Of course, that student had broken the rules first, so they were all sure that the academy wouldn't blame them. They would be really disappointed if that happened.

They already feel somewhat disappointed that a teacher hadn't come to help them, but seeing how many hours passed, they started to think that maybe they didn't notice what happened.

Most teachers had been busy preparing a formation for Eini's breakthrough. They cared far more about students that the principal. Someone with Eini's talent was considered extremely important for them, so they spared no effort.

There were other teachers that weren't there, but with so many being busy, the students could somewhat believe that they just had bad luck that no one noticed.

As for Shiba, he had been in a meditation state since after killing the berserk guy, and no one dared to disturb him.

The principal had ordered the teachers to not enter that room until Shiba woke up from his meditation, so even after several hours, no one went there.

He had already seen through all the documents about Shiba. In fact, there wasn't that much, but it was quite shocking.

Shiba basically had joined the previous day with a recommendation of his grandfather and showed that he had reached the apprentice stage on archery, which should have been impossible with his level.

Moreover, he sensed Shiba's archery one the previous battle, and it seemed that he had reached the expert stage after killing the berserk guy, which he wouldn't have believed if he hadn't seen it with his own Spiritual Sense.

The documents also mentioned that he had come together with a girl who was advancing to Rank 1 at that moment.

"Quite an impressive couple, but the girl is quite lacking compared to Shiba."

The reports stated that Shiba was inferior, but the traces of two Laws were what mattered the most for the principal.

Soon, his face changed again.

"The Fire Law. Who has gotten enlightenment on the Fire Law?"

He couldn't believe that such a bizarre phenomenon to happen twice the same day.

"The place is where that girl was advancing to Rank 1. Law Enlightenment when reaching Rank 1? What is she, a reincarnated expert? No considering Shiba, probably both are disciples of a very powerful being."

If they had always been with a powerful expert that controlled Laws perfectly, the principal could believe that they could receive some enlightenment.

"Wait, the Water Law too. In the midst of one enlightenment, she started a second one."

He was unable to make sense of the situation, so he could only reason everything with a supposed supreme being helping those two.

"What happens to the formation to support her breakthrough? Even when my grandfather asked his friends to help me advance to Rank 1, it hasn't been this powerful. No way those teachers can do it on their own."

After observing the supporting formation, the astonishment of the principal reached the pinnacle.

At that moment, he didn't have the slightest doubt that there was a supreme being helping those two students.
