Chapter 22 - The Generous Beast Hunter Guild

Lina really felt that Eini should learn a couple of things from Shiba. He was able to make others value him, but he wasn't arrogant nor went provoking problems whenever he could.

Moreover, Shiba was also far more diligent when training than Eini, which made Lina feel exasperated. Eini never faced difficulties before being left alone on that planet after becoming ten and starting to practice the Fake Origin Path, but even after that, she managed to avoid problems or had gotten revenge quite quickly.

The scam had been one of her hugest setbacks, but it ended up with the scammer burn to ashes.

Thus, Eini didn't know how to endure hardships like Shiba did. Of course, Shiba's experience in the past was completely opposite to Eini. Shiba worked as a slave just to survive while Eini lived better than the princesses of that planet while she was still with her family. It wasn't difficult to see the reason for the difference in mindset.

She looked at the house Eini obtained after killing the scammer. She was inside and didn't plan to leave it. She feared that the guards of the other day would still be looking for her, so she didn't dare to go outside.

While Shiba was obtaining a powerful backer that could help him without interfering with his fate, Eini had just secluded herself from the outside.

Of course, it was normal for her to fear those enemies given the disparity in power, and that shock might even help her to mature a bit and start taking the training more seriously, so Lina didn't believe that it was really a bad thing.

At that moment, Shiba was already about to leave since he had already gotten what he wanted.

"I will be returning to the inn now. I stayed all night fighting, so it is better if I rest a bit now."

Although one night wasn't too much for Shiba, he didn't want to go hunting beasts in that state.

"Inn? No way. It is too early to check-in into an inn now."

It was still morning, so there was no way the inn would accept Shiba.

"No way? It seems that I will need to endure until later."

Shiba sighed. He wanted to rest a bit, but it seemed that he would need to wait.

"You don't need to rest there. I manage several houses that are reserved for geniuses of our Beast Hunter Guild. Given how talented you are, I can give one of them to you."

The guild master called a butler and asked him to bring the keys belonging to one of those houses.

Meanwhile, Shiba was left speechless for a few minutes.

"Can I really have a house? Isn't that really expensive?"

The thought of having a house was something from fantasy to Shiba, who the previous month was still a slave.

As for the Lord of the town, he believed that Shiba was again thinking of rejecting a gift.

"No. This is a service to nurture talented members of the guild. Helping you to rest better will also put you in a better condition to hunt beasts. In fact, I can send people to help you with your training. The stronger you become, the better for the guild."

Although it was true that the guild had houses for members, usually only those who reached Level 9 Mortal before sixteen and had chances to reach Rank 1 were given one.

If they failed to advance, they would need to leave those houses.

Given the strict requirements, most of those houses were empty, so it wasn't a problem giving one to Shiba. Just by thinking about the person backing him, he was far more valuable for the guild than those geniuses.

As for helping Shiba's training, there was no way the guild would help others for free, but the guild master was more than willing to make an exception for Shiba.

"There is a service like that? As expected of the Beast Hunter Guild. If this is the case, I won't be polite. I will accept the house, and I will also be glad if you can send someone to help with my training."

Seeing how much the Beast Hunter Guild was willing to do to help young talents, Shiba was really impressed.

There was no way he discovered that the guild was usually far stingier, but that they were making an exception with him.

Shiba could save a lot of money by having his own house instead of using an inn, so he didn't want to reject it.

Moreover, having people to spar with him would help him to practice better, so it was also something that he really needed.

"If this is the case. Please use one of the rooms here to rest. I can send some guards to help you after you have rested. You will have time to go to your house later. You haven't slept yet, so no need to walk now until your new house."

If Shiba was assaulted by someone because of being sleepy, the Lord of the town wasn't sure that he wouldn't be blamed for not letting Shiba rest there first.

"Then, I will accept your offer."

That residence had training grounds, so it would be better training there than on the house he had obtained. It would really be a waste of time going to that new house and needing to return after resting, so Shiba didn't hesitate and followed a maid called by the guild master to lead him to a room.

Shiba slept there until the afternoon.

Once he had woken up, he walked to the training grounds following another maid.

There were always guards training there. When they weren't patrolling or controlling the entrance of the house, they used their time to polish their abilities.

They had already been instructed to help Shiba once he went to the training grounds, so Shiba was told to go there once he had rested enough.

Of course, the guards were surprised to hear that they needed to help a kid to train, but it was an order from their boss, so they didn't dare to say no.

They felt that Shiba would look like a wealthy young master, but they were baffled by the clothes Shiba was wearing.

They didn't understand why their boss wanted them to help a poor kid to train. If he had been from a wealthy family from outside the town, they would have understood it, but at first sight, they could see that Shiba was a poor kid.

When they already thought if their boss had mental problems, they saw Shiba's hand and noticed that there was a ring there. It was quite old, but they were usually in contact with their boss, who had a spatial ring, so they could recognize that the old ring was also a spatial ring.

The guild master had never shown that ancient ring to anyone else, so the guards didn't know that he was the one who gave it to Shiba.

Instead, they believed that Shiba was really someone with a powerful background, but that was trying to be low-key.

They could see that the ancient ring was a spatial ring because they had seen one a lot of times, but for most people, that would just seem a worthless ring.

At that moment, their impression of Shiba changed completely. From a poor kid scamming their boss, he turned into a noble kid trying to be humble despite having a powerful background.

"Young friend, feel free to tell us what you need, and we will help you."

Since they felt that Shiba was trying to hide his background, they decided to act friendly as if they hadn't discovered it.

At the same time, Shiba felt that everyone in that residence was very kind, so his impression of them was even better than before.

"I recently reached the expert stage in swordsmanship, so I wanted to try to advance also on martial arts."

Since he already reached that level on swordsmanship, he felt that it shouldn't be difficult to reach it in martial arts.

The guards were expecting to train a kid, but even if he had an important background, they didn't think that it was already someone that had reached the expert stage on swordsmanship. Even a lot of them, despite being Level 9 Mortals, had yet to reach that level.

Asking help to them for reaching the expert stage on martial arts like if it was something easy made them feel that Shiba lived in a different world than them.

"Reaching the expert stage doesn't have a proper method. What have you thought?"

At that moment, the leader of the guards decided that it was better to just follow Shiba's instructions. If he were so sure about being able to advance with help, maybe he really had a method that could work.

"Let me face simultaneously two of you that had different battle styles, and I will try to use martial arts corresponding to yours. It worked fine to reach the expert stage in swordsmanship. Of course, I need to ask you to restrain your strength. I am merely a Level 3 Mortal. If you go serious, you can beat me with a single hit."

Shiba felt that emulating the previous situation should work, but for the guards, that was unbelievable.

Especially because they had heard that it was how Shiba reached the expert stage.

Dividing their attention perfectly to battle two enemies that had different styles simultaneously wasn't easy even for them. Of course, that was if the enemy was at the same level or above. For people at Shiba's level, it wouldn't be a problem since they could beat them with sheer strength.
