It hurt when Alexandre set me down too, but I managed to stifle the majority of the moan and then he helped me settle so that I was propped up against the headboard. I sighed happily. He placed a stack of books by my side and left the room to return with a cup of blood that I could tell was once again a mix of his and Cornelius'. Then he handed me my phone.
"You won't need it to reach us really, but in case you'd like some other variety of entertainment." Alexandre gestured at the books. I smiled at him and tugged on his shirt front, pulling him to me to kiss him soundly.
"I love you." I said to him.
"Eternally." He replied and kissed my forehead softly before leaving the room. I was just relieved to be back in my own bedroom again and sat for a moment enjoying Alexandre's scent surrounding me. I examined the books and laughed lightly as I found a copy of Dracula tucked away at the bottom. I cracked it open and began to read it again. This time, I had the unfortunate image of Cornelius in Dracula's place, and couldn't shake it from my mind. I closed the book, unsettled. The baby moved and I laid my hand on my stomach as if to comfort her. I picked up another book at random and opened it. It was one of the medical texts I had been reading before, but it couldn't hold my attention either. I set it down with a sigh and drank the mug of blood in several quick gulps. I placed the mug on the bedside table and noticed my fingertips felt tingly. I accidentally knocked the mug off the table as I retracted my hand and suddenly my body felt like it had heated up. I gasped and my head swam slightly. My heart rate spiked and I suddenly wanted to bolt from the bed and..
"Is everything alright in here?" Cornelius' calm voice asked.
"I um...I don't know." I blushed, feeling the heat creeping into my veins, and settling lower in my torso. I saw Cornelius' nostrils flare slightly and I blushed harder.
"I think I might be on a bit of a blood high, but I've never really experienced one before..." I explained bashfully as Cornelius stepped into the room. He chuckled softly and licked his lips.
"Did you drink that entire mug so soon after me feeding you?" He chuckled. "My blood is potent, remember? High viral blood..." Cornelius' eyes had taken on a wild cast.
"Cornelius..." I half-groaned holding up a hand. "Don't, please." Alexandre suddenly appeared and restrained him.
"Carys, are you alright?" He asked me gently.
"Yes..." I moaned softly "But I need you both to leave...quickly." Alexandre nodded at me and tugged at Cornelius. Cornelius resisted, I knew he could overpower Alexandre.
"Please." I whispered to him, knowing if they were there much longer, I would ignore the pain in my body and allow my hormones to take control. Cornelius blinked once, and then turned and fled the room. I could almost hear Alexandre whine as my scent hit him full force. He too fled and slammed the door behind him. I allowed myself a pained moan and then tried to calm the flames consuming me from the inside out. Every heartbeat was excruciating. I allowed my body to slide down and lay flat on my back. Every nerve pulsed in time with my heart, and none more powerfully than those that my hormones had awakened. I moaned again and squeezed my legs together, but it only made the throbbing worse. I wanted to bite something. No not something-someone-Alexandre in particular. I snatched his pillow and sank my teeth into it, growling in frustration. I felt the heat settle into my spine and suddenly gasped in pain. There was a moment where I thought I might scream, so I tore at Alexandre's pillow to muffle the noise and then the pain was gone as quickly as it had started.
Then the real torment began as the pain settled into my ribcage and every breath became excruciating. This time I couldn't hold back the scream, but stopped when I realized it made the pain so much worse. The baby kicked, making me gasp, setting off a chain reaction of pain all over again. There was lightning in my chest, I knew it, I could feel it scorching my ribs and lungs and muscles and I just wanted to tear it out. I sobbed quietly, trying to avoid deep breaths as the lightning arched back and forth and I clung to Alexandre's torn pillow for comfort. Just as suddenly as it began, that pain ended too. Then the heat settled between my thighs, throbbing in time with my heartbeat. I moaned and rolled over uncomfortably. I didn't know how long I could take this, the torment was unbearable. I dug my fingers into the sheets and watched in amazement as their skeletal appearance took on a little more padding. My right hand suddenly burned and I screeched and let go of my grip as the ache settled into the broken bones and then once again disappeared. The process would have been fascinating, if it hadn't been accompanied by such a raging blood-lust, well just lust in general.
The vampire side of me kicked in full force and I was suddenly very aware that Alexandre was still standing on the other side of the bedroom door. My senses honed in on him and it was everything I could do not to crawl to the door to get to him.
"Alexandre..." I moaned in anguish. It was half longing and half disappointment that he had stuck around after I had asked him to go. "You should leave..." I groaned and rolled over to face away from the door. I heard the door pop open.
"I can't." Alexandre said softly. I heard him step into the room. My comment had had the exact opposite effect. I moaned again and tried to tell him to go, but I heard his gentle steps coming around the bed to look at me. My vampire side took over fully, the first time I had ever completely lost control. I slyly watched him come around the edge of the bed, maintaining my posture of suffering, observing his every more, stalking him like prey. All the pain had suddenly vanished from my body and I was desperately fighting for control, trying to yell at Alexandre to turn around, leave. I heard myself whimper and the vampire side of me grinned evilly in my head. I had just given it exactly what it needed to draw Alexandre in, and indeed Alexandre stepped forward quickly and crouched down in front of me.
"Carys, what can I do?" His voice came from so far away as he reached for me.
"Alexandre, please run!" I begged, but only got so far as "Alexandre, please..." before he was leaning over me and my vampire side snapped, snatching him in an instant and latching onto his throat with a strength that surprised us both. I sunk my teeth into his pulse eagerly, the blood flowed swiftly, and I yanked at him, trying to pull him down onto the bed. He resisted, hands on either side of my body, arms straining.
"Cornelius." He growled, and the growl vibrated through both our chests. "Carys honey, you need to let go. I don't want to hurt you." Alexandre soothed, but I was too far gone and no longer in control. Suddenly a second pair of hands had me by the neck. I snarled angrily. My arms were trapped at my sides and I struggled, but refused to let of of Alexandre's throat with my teeth, growling like a dog hanging on to prey. Then I felt teeth sink into my own neck and I roared, twisting to break free. Alexandre was restraining me in an instant, neck safely out of reach.
"What are you doing?" He demanded, horrified.
"She's on a blood high and just took in even more of your blood. I wasn't going to be able to get her off you lightly, and the only way to bring her back down is to either let her burn herself out or to take a little back. I'm certainly not close to being overfed since I've been feeding her for three weeks, you?" Cornelius growled and sunk his teeth back into my neck. I kicked and screamed but then suddenly moaned and arched backwards into him. Alexandre lifted me slightly and his teeth found the other side of my neck. I gasped and trembled, and my body reacted automatically by rocking hard against him and I heard his sharp inhale and he pulled me tighter against him. I struggled to free my arms and was finally allowed, digging my nails into Alexandre's scalp as I pressed my body even tighter to his. I reached behind me to pull Cornelius closer too and found myself losing my senses as Alexandre's hands crept down my body. The heat receded from my skin and I heard Alexandre panting as he pulled away. His neck was still trickling blood, and I saw I had done quite a bit of damage to it. Cornelius reluctantly released me too and laid me gently back on the bed. I reached up to Alexandre's neck with a grimace.
"I just keep hurting you." I said with tears in my eyes.
"It'll heal." Cornelius stated softly, brushing hair out of my face. "I think you actually did quite well, considering." I looked at him with anger.
"Why?" I demanded, showing him my bloody fingertips.
"You could have killed him." Cornelius shrugged and I looked at him with shock, then burst into tears. Alexandre punched him, hard, and blood burst from his nose.
"Get out." He growled and Cornelius sniffed, pinching his nose as he left the room. Alexandre lifted my torso and leaned me against his chest, rocking me slightly while I cried.
"Cornelius and I have had a long time to adjust to this life." Alexandre murmured. "We're more capable of handling blood highs and our vampiric impulses. What happened today wasn't your fault. You told us what you needed and I didn't listen. I came in anyway which made you lose control." He kissed my head.
