The true attack came as the D ranked parties began to feel the exhaustion from the hordes of Velocinids. They were harassed by the young sliders in front of them, but the adult packs had already finished stalking and observing their prey.
Their strikes were sudden and led with great precision by their alphas. At critical moments they would strike, leading the parties to oblivion. They parties did not even have time to scream as they became prey to the Velocinids.
This was not even the worst of it. The Rosethorns had used the Velocinid army as cover, allowing their vines to slowly approach. Soon the vines had surrounded the squads, constricting them as they fought of the spiders. It did not take long for the surviving parties to fall.
The sudden decimation of the human forces led the C ranked parties to finally act. They had initially held off, waiting for the three boss class monsters to appear. However, they no longer had that luxury as they were forced into action.
All the C ranked parties had a wizard. Half these Wizards had high enough wisdom to slowly recover their mana. This meant they could cast to their hearts content.
Mixtures of fireballs, electricity, ice, and earth began to rain down on the army before them. The spiders quickly fell to the mass onslaught of spells, revealing the ruined bones underneath them.
A scream of rage could be heard in the distance. The earth began to rumble as a massive figure began to speed through the warzone. One of the three Bosses had finally acted. The Velocinid Empress had appeared.
Its body was massive and had undergone a drastic change. It still carried the lower body of a Velocinid, but its upper body had changed. It now was an Arachne, much like the Bug God Ishra. Its face was anything but human, however. It had Eight disgusting eyes that gleamed with killing intent. Black venom dripped from the massive fangs in its mouth.
It is two massive arms held great swords bigger than 3 times the average human. It stood a massive 5 meters tall, higher if it completely lengthened its 8 spider legs.
Its massive body moved at a speed that not even me or Hylia could hope to match. It is massive swords quickly broke through the massive wall surrounding the city, as it rushed towards the source of the magical attacks.
The C ranked parties stood no chance against the monster, its movements were a blur, and they died quickly under the rapid onslaught of the flashing blades.
Only a single person could hope to match the Velocinid queen's power. An old man slowly approached the queen. He did not move quickly. or appear to make a movement at all, and yet he appears before the queen. He effortlessly stopped the blow with a single wave of the quarter staff in his hand.
His strength betrayed his fragile and weak appearance. His true power was beyond anything I could imagine as he fought the queen. The blows of his staff easily penetrating the queen's incredible offense, his attacks always landing true.
The queen became enraged at the obvious provocation to its power. Its swords singed at an even faster pace, but none of them managed to touch even a single hair of the old man's head.
The old man was not hurried as he attacked, but each step he made caused the queen to move a step back. Behind him, those C ranked adventurers that had managed to survive began to recover. They could not hope to challenge the beast in front of them, But the guild master would be enough. He had to be enough.
They continued their assault on the army outside. The warriors protecting their Wizards, the assassins keeping to the shadows, watching for any hidden threats.
But things would not, could not, go as they had planned. Four figures could be seen running towards them. Behind them were a massive group of humanoid beings. The kind of which had never been seen before. They came I the air, on the ground, and even below the ground.
Some of the humanoids had arrived before the four figures could. These creatures were those who traveled through the air. Disgusting men who resembled moths began to assault the parties. The warriors were quick to counterattack, but they could only delay the inevitable.
The massive tide of bug men approached before they could hope to defeat the moth men. The four figures continued to run. It was obvious that their destination was not these elite C ranked parties, Or even the guild master himself. They ran into the smoldering pits that had been the battlefield.
They ran to a single area that had been untouched by the magic of the C ranked Wizards. They ran to an area that was still within the thick of battle, surrounded on three sides by walls of fire.
No one had noticed the survival of the D ranked party. No one had the time, the did not even have time to ponder who the four figured were. They only had time to think to themselves how screwed they were before the massive horde of bug men were upon them.
