Chapter 12 - Escape pt 3

I had no pity for the goblins, not after seeing the state they had left Laurel in. I had previously been human, and the thought of them treating a woman that way made me seethe. Looking for a way to vent my anger I started to cast several [Poison Orbs] at the piles of goblins.

I only had to wait a few seconds before a notification popped up of the death of the goblins. I ignored the notification as I searched through the bodies of the dead goblins. I wish their had been some way to auto loot these beasts, but if there was i did not currently have it.

They did not hold much. There were a few copper coins and a poor-quality knife. I stuck the coins in my inventory, but kept the knife out. A look of grim determination covered my face as I decided to kill every goblin I came across. Of all the victims I was looking forward to killing the pig of a goblin who was guarding the door first.

Unfortunately, I was unable to get the kill as Laurel immediately fired her pistol several times into the chest of the fat goblin. I did not bother looting him as I had already taken everything of value.

We made our way through the caves; the poison was supposed to last for 12 hours but I did not trust it. Regardless instead of heading straight towards the exit I moved the opposite way, towards the room that had once been my latrine. This room turned out to be the chamber of the goblin chieftain, and my years of playing games told me that any treasure would be found there.

I whispered my idea to laurel who only nodded. She too had on odd glint in her eye as we approached. The room was still guarded, and a new chieftain had already been chosen. He laid passed out on the toilet, on either of his sides a goblin girl who did not seem very satisfied.

A confused look crossed Laurel's face as she saw the new chieftain, so I softly whispered to her what had previously happened. She nodded as she heard my words, and exclaimed in happiness as she heard about how the chieftain had received its injuries. However, the excitement quickly left her eyes when she saw the dagger, I had used to kill the chieftain on the table.

"So, he's dead after all. I had hoped my sacrifice would have saved him. My foolish brother must have tried to save me." A tear ran down her face as she spoke, but that was the extent of the emotions she allowed herself to display. I could not help but admire the will of this woman.

I did not mind when she took the dagger, even if it had belonged not belonged to her brother it was not something I could easily use. However, the power of the pistol I had given her had really left an impression on me, not only that but it did not make a sound, unlike the pistols back on earth.

Laurel must have seen me eyeing the pistol, because easily handed it over. "Thank you for taking me here, and for avenging my brother. I... It means a lot to me that the bastard is dead..."

"The pistol is a type of wand, it quickens the casting time of your spells, or you can just poor mana into it to shoot like I did. However, to do this you need a specific skill, and it costs far more than you can afford. Using it for spells though will increase your accuracy and reduce the casting time. All you need to do for that is focus your spell like you would normally, but instead of your hands, focus the spell on the pistol, point and fire. That simple. "

I nodded as I tried as she said. I pointed the pistol at the new chieftain as I once again cast the [Poison Ball] spell. The spell was different from before. It was not as big, and traveled faster than it had before. The casting time of the spell had also been reduced, from 1 second to only half. Soon four more [Poison Orb] Bullets were in the chieftain chest, and one in each of the girls.

I ignored the notification again as I looted their bodies. They did not have much of interest, but I did notice the girls had some clothes, including panties. They resembled a thong, but in quickly put them in my inventory. It was better than nothing and would be fine as soon as they were washed. They had skimpy dresses, which I pulled over my body.

The one I chose was black with a deep neckline and barely covered my bottom. I was not a fan of its shortness, but the black dress was less filth than the other.

As for the new chieftain he had a magical axe and a bag full of coins and gems, which I put into my inventory. With that done we quickly left the room. It was time to escape.
