Chapter 149 - 95 - Day(?) 2 part 1

Walking back home from the beach, I reached into my bag for my gate keys. *Chk*, twisting the key into the hole, I turned back round to make sure things were alright. Though I could detect just fine with [Omni-detection], some things were still stuck with habit. Reminiscing about the days before living in this mansion, I was grateful for simple things like this strange feeling. Atmospheres like this could only develop during peace time, I used to fight in the dungeon everyday so this was a rather rare occurrence compared to back then.

Well, it had been a few months since I actually fought, though it wasn't much to launch that spear at all. Maybe I was just relieving the stress of that dumb beach battle, well anyhow I have to get inside the mansion now. Locking the gate, my footsteps rang in my ear as I approached the door. It was a common occurrence, the area around my mansion was quite quiet, enough for me to hear my own nigh-undetectable breathing.

At the last second of that battle, something triggered and my skill [omni detection] evolved to tier 6 in response. I thought it was strange but I didn't think too hard about it. Entering the main space, there were 3 rectangular green couches forming a square with a table in the middle. In the middle of the table was a common magical device used to relay news and the ongoing matters. It could be used by the government to relay any new or important decisions they made to the citizens. Well, only those with a home have access to this.

Behind the main space was a corridor leading to the left and right. On the left it lead to a kitchen while the right was where a workshop was located. The workshop roughly had the remaining tools and equipment from my dad's merchant days. There were other small rooms like toilets and store rooms, in the middle of the corridor layed a great staircase in front of the main space. The main space was a living space usually meant to accommodate visitors for a short period of time.

The stairs were made of wood with a rare waxy texture that the seller claims the roots of the tree sucks up magic from the atmosphere to create. The railings were also made of the same material, under it was wooden supports that had a twisty design and sometimes characters native to this world's myths. Between an interval of every metre, there was a sort of wooden orb attached on top of the railing, they were used as grips to keep your balance on the long stairs.

*clack clack clack*, the sound of my footsteps making contact with the stairs echoes. The upstairs was also a corridor, to the left was Kurisu's office and to the right was my bedroom. In between, there were plenty of spare bedrooms. I couldn't do anything when I was younger, so a neighbour was actually taking care of my mother while I was gone. She had somewhat recovered from the stress, her constitution had weakened considerably, but she was now eating and living properly.

The workshop wasn't in much use as I was only making weapons as a hobby. I had gone bored over time, so now I only go there once a week. Certain materials took time to mature or gain a new property, so it wasn't necessary for me to be there everyday.

Giving my mother and Kurisu a goodnight, I headed towards my bedroom to have a rest. Changing to my 'night gown', a simple opaque mint shirt and grey short pants, I jumped onto my bedsheets. I couldn't get used to an actual transparent and frilly night gown, so I just used what was more comfortable in my sleep. Turning so I layed on my back, I thought of what happened at the beach. It had been a few months since my last battle, will another series of new ones come out again? How agitating.

It wasn't as if it was a game, there were many times where I could have lost of my life. I have to be more careful so I don't get in a trap. I wonder what precautions I can take. Slowly, my eyelids felt more and more heavier. I guess it was time for my body to rest. I didn't actually need any sleep, but I wanted to live a normal life, so I had Fez placed a curse on me that makes my body akin to a human's.

Waking up, I stifled a yawn before leaving the bedsheets. Due to the lack of battles, I slept at a much more normal time and got used to waking up properly. My senses had dulled a little, but that battle at the beach was enough to wake up roughly 40% of it.

I had a little renovation done, so now the toilet was slightly further away from before. It didn't matter since I could just teleport into it, but that would ruin the fun of walking to the toilet in the morning. Kurisu and mother was still asleep, so I went for a 'morning jog'. It was habit at this point. Teleporting myself into the dungeon, an unbalanced half-assed swing of mine could mow down the monsters. It was used as a warm-up for the day, the sight of a sleepy little girl casually erasing hordes would shock the professional adventurers risking their lives.

Of course I had to make sure no one was in the way before sending those devastating shock waves. Returning back home, I got a quick rinse to wash off the sweat before heading downstairs. I practically jumped down, ignoring the stairs. A smell was emanating from the kitchen and permeating my nose. In the time that I took to do my warm up, Kurisu had woken up and started preparing breakfast. Mother was also rubbing the drowsiness off her eyes as she arrived at the dining table.

Taking a seat, we indulged in breakfast as I told mother about recent events. She only moved in a few months ago, so we had a lot to catch up. But it was nice to just spend our time like this, eating breakfast and discussing other affairs in this simple setting. School was about to start in a week so I needed to do my homework. I had been lazing the whole time and a week had passed in a blink of an eye.

After eating my eggs and sausages, I went back up the stairs to get started on my homework. Halfway through I became really bored, so Fez was invited into my house to keep me company. Unlike me, Fez had worked hard to fulfill a certain quota of assignments everyday, she was on her last assignment, but that was ruined when a certain friend had called her over to her house.
