Chapter 98 - 45 - gears

Tch, a rebellion. It had only been 2 weeks after I established rule too and there was already such a possibility. I have no choice but to retreat. I hadn't had time to go leveling in the dungeons, but greed easily made up for that when I battled with the other clans 2 weeks ago. Issuing an assembly of all the workers, I gathered them all in the same room before giving them the news.

Now that the king had died, there was a high chance for rebellion from the denizens of the territories and maybe even the capital. If the workers in the governing body wanted to leave now, they should as I don't want to drag people here unwillingly. About 80% of them left the place as the remaining stared around akwardly. To my surprise, a solid 20% had stayed behind. Did the high pay or job experience give them something invaluable?

Let's hear from them instead.

After 10 minutes of listening to their individual explanations. It was truly a surprise, what some of them had experienced with their initial lives before they came. Essentially they were the lower income group that found a better life from the job I provided, this earned their loyalty. Well they won't be doing manual labour, so it should be fine. Since I'll be doing all the fighting along with the party, the rest should just be fine in the intelligence department to gather information.

Even though there was some form of news system, the actual important information is never shared throughout. There were many deep secrets, experiments, cloning, drugs and other dark trades that hide under the public's eye. Lastly, the most valuable information that someone could possess, the information on how their skills work. People may have unique skills or a unique combination that brings different effects, these are essentially trump cards if someone decided to fight them. I don't have any information gathering skills except for a way to hide my presence, even then it would be inefficient for me to gather information alone.

Right now there were 36 people left including me. There used to be around 160 but that was fine. For the building, we'll just have to burn it down to erase the valuable

information that had been gathered. We won't be governing anymore anyway. I'll assign 7 people to each city and keep 2 on me. The party can go do whatever they want, though the advisor will probably bring one or two of them to build a new base. It sure was sad to lose my mansion, but this ridiculous situation has set me back to square one.

I wonder how long it would take to retake my territory. Since my revenge on uncle was conpleted, I didn't have to rush anything anymore. I can take my time to build up power and plan my next move with more consideration. In 2 years time, when we basically graduate from the academy, there will be an election to hold the candidates to be the new king. The king was obviously above level 900,individuals who surpass level 900 will earn a skill from the world system that gives them immortality. The king could have ruled for centuries and I wouldn't have known.

There was a high probability that this was the first time they've lost the king for a long time, surely their makeshift governing body is in a panic right now. Going by the same logic, their next step was to have a new king to calm the citizens. But why did they choose 2 years from now? Were they waiting for James to graduate first?

Well, that definitely decided my new objective. I'll have to keep my promise with the king before the election comes, at that time the contract would recognise me as royalty. Being a queen sucks big time, unless I live as carefree as the king. The problem was that I would be too soft to ignore the problems of the kingdom and live the rest of my life restrained. At that time, I'll just make Fez the queen. She should be more suited to it than I am, though I'll make sure that I'm her only bride. Just imagining her being wed off to a stranger makes me uncomfortable. Was this... Motherly instinct? No, perhaps it was the fatherly instinct to play as the last boss for the son-in-law.

Jokes aside, the citizens haven't exactly rebelled yet. I'll just get some workers to build me a new home with tax money. Maybe I'll get Yuuka to build a secret escape tunnel. The element she specialised in was steel, steel was essentially the evolved form of ground, building a tunnel should be trivial for her capability. They were all at their max level of 600, giving them excess to tier 4 skills.

Though it may be unconvincing coming from me, tier 4 skills were meant to be rare as they were destructive enough to erase a city. The scale goes from room - > building - > street - > city - > world. My father may have told me the wrong scale as he was just a merchant, so this new scale I came up with was just speculation based on experience. I've only been fighting with strong enemies that I forgot about the destructive scale until I remembered that some people capped at level 600.

With wrath, my stats had surpassed that of a level 1000s quite a while ago, with greed, my capabilities have transcended stats. Now it all went down to strategy. The opponent could have a skill that copied my speed, then the battle would essentially be up to wits and strategy. Something that I heavily lacked. With all that in mind, I kept a low profile in school and blended into the background for the rest of my days. Nothing really notable happened, except for James becoming more and more arrogany.

The worse part was that James was trying to woo me, saying he would make me the queen and give me anything I want if I accepted his love. Kimoi, disgusting, if I get the chance I would surely kill him. I can't tell what's worse, the chance that I would hesitate when killing him or his confidence in trying to woo me, as if it had been set in stone that he would win. The days continued peacefully until the tournament came for the second year we've been in this school. The juniors were kind of cute, strange coming from someone a year younger they are, but that was the impression given off by their naivety.

As the tournament came up, I was prepared to do my best in winning. While we're at it, let's get a 2 years in a row wins. The barrier set up teleports them instantaneously when the participant's health reaches 50%,so I didn't need to hold back. The only problem I would have is holding myself back from breaking the barrier. My mana pool itself, the amount of mana that I'm able to control, would subconsiously gather mana, it was just like breathing. If I didn't control it, the mana around me would be so dense the pressure may break the barrier, which was the main concern.

The heirs had roughly gone up to the level 300s which was a historical feat had I not been here. They may have more tricks up their sleeves than last time, so it was my job to prepare myself!
