Anna Rose Valez
I waited outside the operation room. He got a bad broken bone on his leg and his head hit the ground. He's bleeding badly and I don't know what to do. I try calling Travis but he wasn't answering so I leave him a message. Then, I just remember about Zac. I called him and he answered immediately.
"Hello?" I swallowed the lump on my throat and hold myself.
"Mr. Sander. This is, Anna Valez, Mr. Cabello's assistant."
"Anna, what happened? I was talking to him and I heard an awful noise."
"We are in the hospital right now. It was hit and run. He tried to avoid it but he gets caught and—" I breathed, pressing my eyes shut.
"It's alright Anna. I'll call Travis. Okay?"
"Yes, sir," I mutter. He hung up and I waited there for hours.
Then the doctor came out from the operation room. I stood and walk toward him.
"How is he?"
"Are you his guardian?"
"I'm his assistant. We are from the Philippines and his guardians are away."
"Okay, Miss."
"Anna," I mutter. "I would like to know how he is."
"Well, Anna. He has a successful operation and stable. I would like to talk with you in my office. We are going to send him on ICU." It sounds so bad.
I sat down on the chair that the doctor offered me. My whole body is still shaking and I don't know if I should feel more nervous than I am right now. He showed me the results of his CT-scan and tell me about the damage. It was small damage and I don't understand most of it so I have to take note of it and google it. Something about bleeding.
I sign few documents after re-reading it for like an hour and I pull out his cards, his health insurance, and other things. He was put on a VIP room. I have to run from our hotel and pack a few clothes.
It's already the fourth day and he's still sleeping. I check the phone that he tuck inside my jacket and went to the bathroom to check it. It has an encrypted code. Should I give this to Travis or Zac? Zac is his boss's boss. I tuck it in my pocket and got out of the bathroom to see a man in a doctor's outfit.
I frown when he was about to inject something on Warren's IV.
"Excuse me." He stopped and look at me. "Who are you?" Though he's covered with mask and eyeglasses I know that he wasn't Warren's doctor. I run to the emergency button and push him. He grapples me. I was small so small that he could throw me.
That's what I'm worried about. He threw me on the wall that makes me fall flat on the floor. My whole body trembles in pain. I don't know where but it was all over me. I found the nurses entering and the man had runoff. I try to get up, reaching for Warren just to make sure he's fine but darkness eats me.
"Anna?" I gently open my eyes, still I struggle on moving. My back aches a lot and even my head. "You hear me?"
"W-Warren," I mutter.
It's okay now." Travis helps me up a little. I found myself on a bed. Hospital bed.
"Don't leave Warren, alone in his room," I mutter.
"It's okay." I hold my head, that's throbbing in pain. "No serious injuries."
"You got him?" I ask Travis. He shook his head.
"For now, you should sleep. You even look so thin than the last time I saw you. I'll call someone to bring food for you."
"I'm fine." He hissed.
"You aren't fine. You have been skipping meals for like, four days since the accident. Now, that I am here, I won't let you even torture yourself because of what happened. I know that this is very much traumatic to you. I know that. Warren will wake up soon enough when he recovered."
"What if he won't?" It scares the hell out of me. I know that it was too short a time to fall in love but I like him very much. He took care of me and he even tried to be romantic. The beautiful flowers that scatter around the street that he meant to give me suddenly become ashes when he was lying on the cold ground bleeding.
"Anna, he will. Stop thinking negatively. Zac is already there and he's taking care of everything. We are sending you to the Philippines."
"What? No." I shook my head. "Please, don't. I wanted to stay with him."
"Okay," he gave me a glass of water and I sipped on it. "This can't happen again. Warren will kill me if anything bad happened to you, again. I ask for security for you and him."
A light bulb flicks on me and I try to find the phone.
"Where's the phone?"
"This?" Travis lifted the flat phone. "Why do you have this?" he asked suspiciously.
"Warren put it on my jacket before he loses consciousness. There's something on it. I don't know but it seemed so important that I have to keep it."
"I will have it."
"But—"
"Do you trust me on this?" the door opens and Zac came in. "Zac, Warren had witnessed something. That's why they wanted to kill him. I guess all of the documents are here."
"What's going on?" I wanted to know. So I could protect Warren no matter what.
"Anna," Zac sigh and walked closer to me. "It's what Warren's furtive work. Only we know about it. Now, he trusted you more so he could give you the evidence. So we trust you now that these whole things are confidential." I nodded.
"I understand. But, don't send me to the Philippines until he's conscious."
"If that's what you want." Zac nodded. He sighed. "I'll be leaving for New York. We should make copies of it."
They left me just as a nurse came by with food. Travis warned me about my health and I did obey him. Then, after this, I could visit Warren. I remove my IV and walk out of the VIP room. I still feel all the body pain. I went to his room pulling out a chair and hold his hand.
"Warren, you said that you won't leave me, right? Now, wake up and get your ass at work. I don't know what to do if you won't wake up and you got me pregnant and all. I will hate you for that." I kisses his hand and waited for him to wake up if ever he will.
