"You said there'd be a gate, kid," Leo reminded Morgana. "I don't see any pearly white gates here…"
He and Morgana had shadow traveled to the outer edge of the Abyssal Plains where Morgana claimed the conventional entrance to the Abyss lay.
The sky above seemed even darker than the gray clouds Leo was used to. Forks of lightning streaking through these dark clouds were the only light that would guide their way. Even worse, a fog lay heavily over this patch of land, making visibility beyond a few meters ahead almost impossible.
Leo had stepped forward when Morgana caught his arm and dragged him back.
"Watch where you're stepping, Leo," Morgana warned.
Leo glanced down and saw the fissure beneath him. He realized he'd nearly thrown himself off the edge and down into eternal darkness below.
"T…thanks," he said as he cleared his throat. A thought struck him. "Couldn't you just make your own gate like you do with our players?"
