Chapter 49 - Welcome to the Death Mine

He looked at the Twilight Dragon Slayer in the sky, then the Shadow King on the ground. He instantly became nervous again. The names of those two were both maroon in color, which meant they were neutral but partial hostile.

In Firmament, there were good people and there were bad people. Not only players could be hostile to each other, the Monster Forces were not all friendly either. He was really afraid that those two might kill him.

However, after observing those two carefully, Xiao Yu realized a strange phenomenon. Dakar Rhode actually looked quite similar to Blake Rhode, thus he asked curiously, "Are you related to Blake Rhode?"

"He's my cousin," said Dakar Rhode, "I heard about what you did in Night Whisper Village. I have to say that you are really bold. So, are you interested in joining the Shadow Brotherhood?"

So they wanted to pull Xiao Yu into their force. He was already planning to join a Monster Force, so this was perfect, not to mention they had saved him just now. Just as he wanted to agree, a violent surge of wind suddenly blew from the sky. The Twilight Dragon Slayer was gradually descending, but he did not land on the ground. He looked down towards them from the sky about six to seven meters from the ground.

Angmar (Twilight Dragon Slayer) said, "If I were you, I would not agree so quickly. What future is there in the Shadow Brotherhood? It's just a small Monster Force in an area. Why not join Twilight's Hammer? We are a large-scale Monster Force that is spread throughout Aizelasi and Kalimdor. The small Brotherhood can't even begin to compare to us."

After hearing what Angmar had said, Xiao Yu was even more astonished, as Xiao Yu had heard of the name Twilight's Hammer before. In Firmament, if the Monster Force had to be ranked according to rates, then Twilight's Hammer would at least be one of the first-rate forces. Although Twilight's Hammer hadn't revealed great strength, as there were not many powerful Bosses, their overall Boss behind the scenes was said to be an Ancient God. Although it was unknown just what it was, just from the name itself, it could be seen that it was definitely extremely strong and would definitely have a great development prospect.

Meanwhile, the Shadow Brotherhood was a secret organization created by a group of agents that had betrayed Storm City. Currently, they were part of the Difia Brotherhood and were quite popular in West Wild. However, outside of West Wild, basically no one knew who they were, so they were only a small force known in an area.

It was obvious which force was stronger. Xiao Yu was confused as to what was happening. When had he become so popular that even such a huge force like Twilight's Hammer would send people to recruit him?

Just as he thought of how he was going to reply, who would have expected Dakar Rhode to suddenly let out a heart laughter.

"I say, Angmar, don't bluff. I admit that the Shadow Brotherhood indeed cannot be compared to Twilight's Hammer. However, the Shadow Brotherhood is the only Monster Force under the Shadow Dynasty Guild. The whole West Wild is our territory. How much influence does your Twilight Star Guild have in Twilight's Hammer? According to what I know currently, there's more than one player guild under Twilight's Hammer. There's already three to four guilds whose names are quite well-known, while your guild has yet to even train a Twilight King. You still have the face to talk about the future with me? You've gone too far. Even those others borrowing the fame of Twilight's Hammer would not do such a thing."

Xiao Yu was instantly stunned because the information hidden within what Dakar Rhode had said was extremely large. He seemed to have understood something. It was obvious that player guilds had started to develop Monster Forces. Such information made him beyond astonished. That was because Monster Mode and Adventurer Mode could not be compared at all, thus there were few Workshops that would invest in Monster Forces. Currently, the most popular player Bosses were all solo players without guilds or Workshops. Compared to the Adventurer Mode world that was filled with Workshops, it was quite rare for the Monster Mode world to have complicated and messy things like Workshops. Was it possible that this would come to an end?

It was obvious that Twilight Star had joined Twilight's Hammer, but they did not have much say in that Monster Force. The reason was simple: for a large-scale Monster Force like Twilight's Hammer, whose Boss behind the scenes was an Ancient God, their leader should at least be a Skeleton Level Boss, but it was not that simple to train one.

Their recruitment request was just them asking him to join their Workshop and not Twilight's Hammer. After understanding this, Xiao Yu instantly did not find it strange anymore.

Angmar seemed to have become enraged from being exposed.

Angmar (Twilight Dragon Slayer) said, "Don't be too arrogant. Be careful because when we, Twilight Star, have a say in Twilight's Hammer, we'll take you down first."

Dakar Rhode (Shadow King) replied, "Hehe, then wait till you get it first. Now it's best that you scram, or you could try to come down and have a fight with me to see if I'm worthy of my Shadow King title."

"Hmph!" In the end, the Twilight Dragon Slayer did not dare to land, as this was the Shadow Brotherhood's territory. Also, both were renowned, so if they really started to battle, they might even be killed by the plot. Thus knowing that there were no benefits he could get today, he pulled the reins and flew into the sky, away into the distance.

Dakar Rhode sneered while looking towards the direction where the Twilight Baby Dragon flew before turning his attention to Xiao Yu. "Alright, follow me."

"Then I'll do just that!" Xiao Yu bowed and then followed Dakar Rhode.

In the darkness, blurry, dark figures could occasionally be seen. Indeed, there were many monsters in stealth mode. It was not because their Stealth Move level was too low and thus they were discovered, it was due to Xiao Yu having the Boss Mode, which made his detection range towards such units in stealth mode higher. However, Xiao Yu was quite surprised that a Monster Force could have so many stealth mode units.

It looked like this Shadow Brotherhood was not weak. He actually had not heard of them before. They were really secretive.

Xiao Yu relaxed now because they had so much strength. It was obvious they would not kill him for just a few Reputation Points or a few pieces of equipment.

Passing by the desolate wheat field, they walked on a small, quiet pathway. Under the moonlight, West Wild's scenery had a different dreary beauty.

Along the way, all the monsters seen were actually those from the Difia Brotherhood. They all saluted Dakar Rhode as he passed just like it was his kingdom. Dakar Rhode was not simple for being able to develop his Monster Force to such an extent.

Just as Xiao Yu was deep in thought, an earthen hill appeared in front of him. That hill was not high, so maybe using "mound" to describe it would be more accurate. There were jagged rocks and quite the number of ore veins distributed on the mound. It seemed to be a mining area. After bypassing the mound, a mine entrance appeared and they walked towards it. Dakar Rhode stretched his hand to signal a "please enter" gesture, then they headed deeper into the mine.

The mine was extremely deep and complicated; it was just like a maze with all the turns. It was similar to most mines in the Aizelasi land. This no longer belonged to the Aizelasi or the Horde, now monsters were everywhere.

There were Kobold Miners, Goblin Miners, and Gnoll Miners mining under the command of some Difia Overseers

It was no wonder no monsters could be seen on the way here—they were all captured to be used as slaves. The other Monster Forces had probably been annihilated and absorbed.

"I hope you will not feel uncomfortable," said Dakar Rhode suddenly.

"What?"

"Those Goblins, you won't feel uncomfortable having those of your race being slaves, would you?"

"Haha, are you joking? This is only a game," said Xiao Yu as he thought it was quite a funny question.

Dakar Rhode. "That's great. I was afraid that you'd be one of those Role Players."

Xiao Yu was curious, so he asked, "Oh, why exactly would you think that?"

Dakar Rhode replied, "That's because after researching, I realized that the non-Adventurer Mode players that are quite powerful currently are mostly Role Players."

Xiao Yu nodded. "I know a little about that. Normal players are used to those stereotypical internet games, so they bring those habits when playing this game. Thus, when they play Monster Mode, Guard Mode, or Mercenary Mode, they essentially think of themselves as traditional Adventurer players. That is the reason why they are not good at playing the game. However, Role Players are different. They immerse themselves in their role. If they are monsters, then they are monsters, Mercenaries are Mercenaries, Summoned Beasts are Summoned Beasts, and even if one has picked a Wild Beast character, then they would need to play it like a wild beast to be able to succeed."

Dakar Rhode nodded. "You're right. In fact, I've also realized such a thing through repetitive research and investigation."

As they spoke, they had already reached the end of the mine.

A huge, stone door appeared in front of the two of them. There was an indentation beside the stone door. Dakar Rhode took out a diamond-shaped crystal and stuffed it in. The crystal lit up in blue light and the stone door gradually opened. Behind the door was a pitch-black hole. That hole was covered by a blue veil of light. Xiao Yu was astonished that this was actually a dungeon.

Dakar Rhode stretched out his hand and invited Xiao Yu in. "Welcome, Eric. No need to be nervous, this is our territory. You are safe here."
