Chapter 18 - Advancement—Goblin Flame Warlock

All of a sudden, Xiao Yu experienced the intense burning sensation on his forehead again. He let out a cry as the vivid feeling seemed to be ingrained deep in his soul.

"Damn it, must the pain sensory system be so realistic in a game?"

Xiao Yu wailed for a long while before the pain finally passed. An estoile was seared into his chest.

System prompt message: Obtained the Flame Mark. You have gained the ability to manipulate fire. Job Advancement: Goblin Flame Warlock.

Mastered Skills: Flame Missile, Summon Fire Elements, Activate Flame Mark

System prompt message: Storyline completed: Devil's Rite. You have received 100 Reputation Points.

System prompt message: Your game Mode has advanced from Rare Elite to Elite. Health points increased by 100%. Damage increased by 20%. Damage received reduced by 20%.

Flame Missile: Manifest several flame missiles and attack your enemies. Every flame missile will cause 10 points of fire damage (Flame Missile will not be affected by spell boost). The number of missiles formed will be linked to your Wisdom and Spell Power.

Summon Fire Element: Summon a Fire Element to fight by your side (This is a divine skill, it does not require any offerings).

Activate Flame Mark: Activate the Flame Mark on your body and unleash the formidable strength it holds.

"Hahaha, this is amazing. Although the Mode has only advanced from Rare Elite to Elite, the boost in strength is great."

Eric (Goblin Flame Warlock) said, "Thank you, Great God, thank you so much."

Carax replied, "Lowly Goblin, I do not need your gratitude. Now, I have a mission for you. In the Night Elves' Night Whisper Shrine, there is a treasure called the Elemental Seed. It holds great importance to me, and I want you to retrieve it."

Night Whisper Shrine? Based on Xiao Yu's recollection, that was a shrine in Night Whisper Village.

Despite his boost in strength, it was too much for him to attack the Night Elves' territory. However, there was only one Night Elf newbie village in Night Whisper Forest, hence the village's NPCs and Adventurers were mostly around the single digit levels. Maybe he had a slight chance of success since the highest level NPCs were level 10 at most, with the majority of them being at level 5, 6, 7, or 8.

However, the problem lied with the players. The majority of players had advanced to levels 20-30, 40-50, or even the maximum level of 60, hence greatly reducing the number of players in newbie villages. However, due to the game's popularity, there was a constant stream of new players, hence there would still be a great deal of them in the newbie villages. Also, summer was nearing, and when the influx of student players arrived, it would worsen the situation.

Despite his worries, he maintained his composure. "Do not worry, Great God. I will retrieve the Elemental Seed."

He did not ask Carax why he would not get it on his own, as he knew that Elemental Creatures had to be summoned into the Primary Interface. A strong Elemental Creature would require the summoning from a strong player. A four-star Hero and many offerings would be required to summon creatures at Carax's level. Furthermore, he was a tough one to control.

Who would be so free to summon an Elemental Overlord for fun?

Carax (Unknown Creature) said, "Very well. Once you obtain the Elemental Seed, you will activate your Flame Mark. A copy of me will appear to take it. Once all's done, I will bestow you with an even greater power. Remember, you only have a month to complete this mission. If you fail to summon me within the month, the Flame Mark's power will burn you to ashes."

Burn to ashes!? That would be considered getting killed by the storyline!

Indeed, you pay for what you get. There were consequences for advancing so rapidly to the Elite Mode. He could not decide whether it really was a blessing.

Xiao Yu complained to himself but said, "Thank you, Great God."

The flame diminished from the statue, and Xiao Yu was glad that he was finally gone.

As he exited the shrine, a night breeze greeted him and cooled down both his body and mind.

He should check out his attributes.

Eric (Goblin Flame Warlock) —

Monster Category: Human-type creature (Elite)

Affiliated Forces: Mud Horde (Goblin Wanderers)

Monster Level: Level 8

Monster Talent: Recoil (Passive).

Health Points: 300 (+150)

Mana Points: 60.

Strength: 9.

Endurance: 10.

Agility: 7.

Intelligence: 7(+2).

Spirit: 6(+2).

Skills: Bonfire, Secondary Fire Ball Spell, Secondary Healing Spell, Summon Goblin (Equipped Skill), Flame Missile, Summon Fire Element, Activate Flame Mark (Special Skill).

He was a lot stronger than when he first started the game. His 300 HP was twice as much as what normal players had. Furthermore, there was a 20% decrease in damage suffered and a 20% increase in damage dealt in Elite Mode. Xiao Yu's confidence had risen greatly.

He had advanced to Elite Mode within his first day of gameplay—this speed was off the charts. However, this had come at a price. If he could not complete his mission within the next month, he would be burned to a crisp. He would not be able to revive, as it would be a storyline death. It seemed like he had no choice but to take on Carax's mission.

Although it was rather difficult and risky, it was also an opportunity. If he could complete the mission, his power would be greatly multiplied from receiving the reward. There might even be a chance for him to advance to Boss Mode. Despite being the leader of a monster force, it was the weakest group of monsters. His influence would only stay within the newbie village region, and it would be possible for players of a similar level to team up in groups of three to five and destroy him.

He would not be able to qualify as a Boss even in the lowest level five-man dungeon. He had to follow the storyline in order to become stronger, and the current mission had given him an idea.

If he could lead a monster army to conquer a newbie village, he should be awarded a couple hundred or even a thousand Reputation Points, right?

He glanced at his current Reputation. 13/500.

He was 487 points away from advancing into the Boss Mode.

All right, he was going to take on this mission.
