The cockatrice is still staring at him, waiting for his answer.
"I met him," Ye Jing-e confirms. He cannot tell this girl that he met Kiluan in a different world. "I heard one of the cockatrices calling him by his name. That's how I know."
The girl remains quiet for a while, surveying him silently. Then she asks him, "Are you going to kill me?"
"No," Ye Jing-e tells her, smiling. "What's your name?"
She wraps her arms around her knees, frowning at him with suspicion in her eyes. Her gaze falls on the sword hanging around his waist. The girl utters, "You are a hunter."
Ye Jing-e takes the sword off him and pushes it away from him. "Now, I am not."
"That sword is made from the bones of my kind." The girl's lips tremble. "The bars are made from those bones. How can you say that you aren't? I don't want to talk to you."
