"Well looks like Teddy won't be hungry for a long time!" Matt said as he walked back to the rooftop.
"Is everything alright Matt?" asked Ethan
"Yeah, everything is fine Ethan. Just a single zombie I already took care of him" Matt replied as he beckoned them to follow him.
Getting back on the first floor, Matt stored the biggest kitchen knife available in the store of kitchen appliances, though they weren't as big as his American Black Eagle, but they were still better short knives of the military except for the fact that their sharpness and durability was nothing compared to the military knives but that can be easily taken care of by Matt as he had stored the blood of the Level 3 Black bear in a container which was inside his inventory. That is all he needs for these low-level kitchen knives to surpass the sharpness and durability of the military knives.
After storing the necessary equipment required the three of them walked towards the stairs to walk down to the ground floor.
As the started walking down Chloe asked "Do we need to jump more buildings?'
"Why? Did you think it would be a walk on the red carpet?" Matt teased Chloe making her pout.
"He he.... but since we already passed the zombie horde there is no need for us to jump buildings anymore" Matt stated as they reached the ground floor.
As Matt cuts down the lock on the back door of the store, Ethan couldn't help but ask, "Matt! What metal is your knife made of? It cuts the iron as it's not iron but butter!"
"Huh! Well it's nothing metal if you are asking about that just High Grade Carbon steel, 5160 steel, 55-60 HRC" replied Matt
"High Grade carbon steel is normal for you!!" Ethan said as Matt opened the door and they were once again back on the lane.
"It's not something that can cut iron like that, now can it?" Matt said.
"That's true but then how?" asked Ethan
"Don't know? I have this since my excursion to the forest 1 and half month ago at, and I used this to stab those mutated animals, maybe their blood made it much sharper than before." Matt said
"If what you said is true then doesn't that mean our weapons sharpness can be increased as well!" Ethan said
"Yes it can but for that, you would need a weapon, do you think, you would be able to survive with a fire axe?" Matt said
"That's true but it's not like we will find them lying around," Ethan said shaking his head.
As the two men talk Chloe silently followed them without speaking anything, she didn't know anything about knives and metals except the common ones or highly valued ones and few more metals that were nothing but fiction. But she definitely knows about guns, as she has been around them for half a dozen years even though they were just props for the show but they were the exact replica of the real ones and she did practice with the real ones from time to time but never got the hang of it.
The journey to the mall wasn't that hard after passing the horde of zombies, of course, their was time when they couldn't hide from zombies coming towards them but Matt took care of it, He killed the zombies before they could even react and stored their body in the inventory to not let their blood attract more of them.
It wasn't long before they were meters away from the Manhattan Mall. From the lane to the left was the 33rd street as they entered the 33rd street from the alley they saw the building of Manhattan mall, it's front door was made of glass so if zombies came there was no way it would for long. Matt knew that there were few peoples inside the mall as there were 10 yellow marks, showing on his map inside the mall.
But the street wasn't empty all three of them could see 3 zombies roaming near the Mall.
"What should we do?" asked Ethan
"This!" Matt said as he disappeared from his position.
Ethan and Chloe were surprised and they turned their heads back towards the zombies only to see Matt stabbing his knife on the head of the last zombie while the other two zombies were nowhere to found. After the zombie fell his body disappeared as well inside Matt's inventory.
"Th-That's too fast!" Chloe said exclaimed as it was her first time seeing Matt using his ability in a fight.
Seeing that Matt has taken care of the 3 wandering zombies, Ethan and Chloe hurriedly walked towards him as Matt walked towards the Manhattan Mall's front gate.
The gate was locked from the inside as Matt has guessed, the people inside the mall were thinking of making the mall their refuge, since it had been locked from the inside Matt didn't know if he should cut the lock open or not. On one hand, it was important for him to get into the mall and on the other hand, he was barging in someone else's area and leaving them open for the next attack of zombies.
"Let's try the Gentlemen's way!" Matt said as he knocked on the glass door 5 to 6 times.
"Matt! Why are you doing this? Let's just cut the lock down." Ethan said
"There are people living, inside the mall Ethan. If I cut the lock then this door would easily be opened by the zombies. Even if its a glass door it still keeps them outside when they just roam around and even if it is broken by the zombies some day a lock glass door will give them enough time to run away from the zombies instead of an unlocked one don't you think." Matt said.
"How did you know there are people inside?" asked Chloe
"Other than the main lock in between the two gates there are two more locks on each of them from the inside. It isn't possible to lock them like that now is there!" Matt replied.
"But will anyone even come out to open the door?"
