Chereads / Second Chance In The Apocalypse / Chapter 12 - Compulsory Mission

Chapter 12 - Compulsory Mission

"Oh my god!" exclaimed the Guide as he came beside Matt and Natasha to watch the video only to get scared and crying God's name.

Matt didn't have the time to care about him as all his focus was on the video, which now showed how the videographer jumped out of the safari and entered the forest to run away from the human size monkey's only to drop the video camera in the process.

Luckily the camera was still facing the safari hence Matt and Natasha saw how the monkey's dragged the humans, alive some conscious some not into the forest on the other side and they also saw Angel's mother hiding her under the seat and covering her with her shawl, after which she was dragged in the forest by the 6 feet tall monkey himself.

"So they took the tourists in that direction and all of them were luckily alive at that time," Natasha said looking in the direction the monkeys took the tourists.

"Uncle....sniff... please help my mother sniff... she promised that she would bring me to meet dad," Angel said.

Matt understood the meaning from those words that Angel's mother was a single parent and losing her would be a hard blow for a little girl like Angel. Although Matt wasn't the type to go the extra mile for some unknown person he always had a soft spot for kids and seeing such a small girl crying in his arms and asking for help. How could Matt not help her!?

"OK! I will bring her back, I promise" said Matt with a smile.

The moment Matt said those words a blue interface appeared in front of his eyes and the voice of the system entered his mind.

[Compulsory Mission Initiated - Due to the idiotic promise made by the owner. He is on a suicide mission. Return safely from the suicide mission.]

[Reward - 5 survival points]

[Penalty -Dead]

As Matt read those words he couldn't help but roll his eyes as he didn't know that his system had a personality like the generic systems he had ready about in novels and all. He only thought that it was something like a computer program that's all but he didn't care about it anymore since he knew that he would be getting 5 survival points for doing something he was going to do without thinking about the reward but now that he had one he was going to give more than his 100%.

Hearing the promise from Matt, Angel smiled but the guide who was standing behind them had a different reaction.

"Are you nuts, those monkeys will kill you before you could even react?" the guide said, "And the chances that any of them is even alive are very low"

Angel's face changed into shock and horror of losing her mother and she started to cry once again.

"Hey Hey it's alright! That uncle doesn't know what he is talking about, I am sure they are all fine." Natasha said to the little girl placating her before turning her head towards the guide with anger clear on his face.

"Are you out of your mind!? Saying those things in front of a girl!" Natasha said ready to punch the guide's face but before she could Matt stopped her and pulled her away from him.

"Stop overreacting! He was thinking about the safety of himself and the other tourists which is a smart move. You will take Angel with the rest of them while I will try to track those monkey's" Matt said.

"What!? No, I will come with you to help you!" Natasha said shaking her head.

"No! I am going to save people not going on a trip." Matt said decisively.

"I am a top-level student of MD in my last year, meaning I would be a certified doctor next year and if not for the lockdown I would have become one this year. I even carry an emergency medicine kit with me which has all the things which will be useful now. So tell me do you know how to patch up those who may be injured by those Monkey's cause if not then it won't matter if you save them or not" Natasha stated.

Matt was surprised to hear that Natasha was a grad student who was in her last year to become a doctor. This profession was really important during apocalypse as even though there were some people who had the ability of healer but not all of them survive long even if they were being protected by others making people such as doctors and healers precious as a gem.

"I still can't take you with me! The chances that I will have to fight those monkeys are high and no offense but you will be nothing else but a burden to me" Matt said harshly.

"A burden huh!" Natasha said as she walked towards the front seat of the safari and easily picked the rifle with one hand surprising Matt than positioned the rifle on her right shoulder taking the shooting which was as good as Matt himself.

"I may have forgotten to tell you that I am from Texas, girls from there know how to protect themselves and not be a burden to others," said Natasha as she held the rifle and smiled at Matt. "I also know some mixed martial arts along with Kendo for which I earned gold at the state level. If not for my interest in being a doctor I would be in our country's National Kendo team."

Matt couldn't say anything to retort back, as she knew more than enough to survive early stages of Apocalypse and if not for her dying early she would become a force to be reckoned with.

"Are you people serious about going in the forest to look for those peoples!?" asked there guide.

"Yes, we are!" replied Natasha before Matt could say anything.

"You know that if you go in then you can also lose your lives!" warned there guide.

"It's alright you don't have to worry about us! Just take the safari and get Angel along with those people out of here" stated Matt.

"Are you sure!?" asked there guide once again to which both of them nodded there head.

*sigh* "Then wait a minute!" said the guide as he went to the driver's seat in the safari and from under the seat took out an 18 to 19-inch long machete with its scabbard and passed it to Matt.

"Since you are going in the forest then you should keep this if the girl handles the rifle."
