The boy was named Sal. His parents had died from poverty which resulted in him and his sister being adopted by their uncle, their mother's brother. Sal and his younger sister, Sana, were then left to their uncle who had no children nor a wife to make him one. Their uncle was a good person, but he had a gambling addiction. He was able to take care of his nephews until the people he owed came to claim his debts.
"Oh come on. You always promised us 'next week' this and 'next month' that. We've come to claim the debts, Jamed!"
"P-please give me more time…"
"Oh? What about those children?"
"No—th-they're my nephews…"
"They look healthy." The man said. "What about you trade the boy to me and I'll consider your debts paid?"
"H-huh…?"
"That boy." The man pointed at Sal, who then hid his younger sister behind him.
Jamed stared in fear as a tear dropped on his cheek.
"…uncle…?" Sal murmured.
"I'll… I'll sell him to you."
