"Hey, Sal!"
Sal, the little boy who was in rags and tatters, turned to his master who was scratching the itch on his grimy skin.
"Master?"
"Go run some errands for me."
Sal's eyes brightened. Run errands. Now he could get out of this place and buy some medicine for his sister!
"Make sure you come back soon, or else..." the man glowered at Sal, who had sunk away from his master. The shackles on his ankles were weighing more than what he could ever imagine—but it wasn't a burden he couldn't take.
"Don't think of even running away, Sal." The man mockingly smirked. "You're not free anymore. You're a slave."
