At that time, the timer beeped, Mike was about to get up and go. But Jennifer spoke loudly at that time and told Elina to go. She wanted to talk to Mike in private and wanted to confirm something important. She did not want Elina along with them for the moment.
"Elina looks like your cake is ready. Why don't you go and check if it's cooked properly? You can surprise Aiden if it's done well. Or else we might need to bake it once again."
Elina immediately ran towards the kitchen. Once Jennifer noticed that Elina was almost out of hearing distance, she leaned near Mike. She questioned him with a serious tone,
"So what does it have to do with my father? Why are your son's behind my family?"
Mike looked at her sharp eyes which were totally different from how she looked earlier.
"So you are actually not so innocent like how you acted before. I knew it! I told you about all their past instead of their funny stories, not because you asked me pleadingly. But it was all for those two brothers who are still madly searching for their sister. I want you to help them find their sister. So they all can live their life peacefully from then on."
"I still don't understand. I know about my father's work and I even went along with him on a few missions. He is not someone who would try to kill five innocent people especially not kids. I know for sure that he was not involved in that murder. He is definitely not a kidnapper, I can guarantee you that. Still, why are you telling me about all this?" Jennifer asked.
"Who said anything about your father trying to kill their family? All I want to tell you is your father was the person who helped the murderer cover up all the details about that accident. In the statement, it was written that their father was drunk and driving. And everyone knows, that was not the actual cause of that accident. All I ask you is to help them find their missing sister, Danee. I know you are very close to your father. He would do anything for you, so can you please do this one small favor to those boys who are still stuck with their past?" Mike begged her.
"How are you even sure about that? Just listening to two kids who were in trauma, they could have just imagined anything. You are on a wild goose chase here. Now, before I lose my patience, ask both your sons to let my parents go. I am not like Elina who is innocent and would believe your sad story. I don't want to be involved in your business. If you have issues with my father then deal with him directly. Do not try to play such cheap emotional games with me." Jennifer roared.
"I thought you love Jayden, isn't that why you married him? How could you be so cruel? All I ask of you is to get information about their sister from your father. Isn't it high time they all reunite and be a family? They have been separated for almost twenty years now. Don't you think you need to do something about this?" Mike asked.
"I don't care what happens in other people's life. All I want to know is where are my parents? Let them go!"
"Isn't Jayden your family too? You are married to him."
"It is just a contract marriage. And this will end sooner, once I find my parents. Listen, I am not someone who would believe in your bullshit sad stories. If they were really innocent as you were saying, then no one would have tried to kill them. I know the rules of this underworld, everyone walks on a thin glass of ice. And everybody knows that no one should break them or else not only them but the whole thing would fall apart."
"First try to find out what their parents actually did to others, before you point your fingers at someone else," Jennifer said that and walked away while huffing.
Elina came back after noticing Jennifer leave angrily.
"What happened? Why is she always angry? Looks like the pregnancy really got to her. She needs to stay calm and think about her baby. Mike, can you prepare that herbal tea once again? I will give it to her and try to talk some sense into her."
"I am not wasting my herbal tea on such a ferocious person. And it looks like Jayden lied to us. She is not pregnant instead she might be having early menopause."
Elina laughed and said jovially, "Hehehe! Menopause doesn't happen to such a young lady. You must stop joking about such serious things. If Jennifer hears you, she might jump up and down in anger."
Mike just shook his head and thought when she had never shown her anger? From the time she came here, all she did was trying to kill him with her anger.
"Didn't you say that the accident happened twenty years ago? My aunt also met with an accident and passed away around that time. She and my cousin Tyler were traveling somewhere at that time. I don't remember the exact location but even that happened on a hillside." Elina said and stopped to look at Mike.
After seeing that he did not show any reaction and just looked at her with a blank expression, she thought he was listening to her and continued,
"Tyler survived but my aunt... His father passed away a few months back and later his mother also passed away in that horrific accident. He stopped smiling and hardly talked to anyone for a long time after that accident. You might even know him, he is now a famous music composer. All his songs are almost a hit and he earns nicely. He would even give me huge pocket money once in a while."
Mike looked at Elina and then thought about Jennifer. How different these two girls are! One is highly difficult to deal with and looks like a devil while the other is an angel, super sweet. At least Aiden is lucky in that matter but Jayden... He decided to let the youngster's deal with their own problems rather than him involving in between their quarrels and causing more trouble.
He was still not sure how Aiden would react after he knew that he told Jennifer about their past and even asked her help in finding their sister. He can at least manage Jayden, as he was a little easy going. The only problem now is Aiden… He took a deep breath and said,
"Can you take care of the cake from here on? I am going to my room to rest. Looks like the heat is too much today and I feel so tired after all the baking we did."
"Sure, Mike. You take rest and I will handle the rest… Hehehe… I used to rest at both the places… It has a nice rhythm… I should message Tyler and let him know! It might be useful for him while writing his songs."
"Do as you like…" saying that Mike walked away sloppily.
Elina thought about why Jennifer started to get so angry recently that she was not even realising that people are getting hurt around her. First, it was Cassie and now, it's Mike. She decided to talk to Jennifer to relax a bit and talk through things calmly.
At that time Elina was not aware of the storm which was brewing around her. Slowly, everything was coming out in open knowingly or unknowingly.
Jennifer locked the door and sat on the bed. She was stressed as she could not find a solution where everyone can be happy. Whatever decision she made, someone would definitely get hurt because of that.
She was sorry for what happened to Aiden and Jayden but she cannot let them hurt her family for something that had happened in the past. Her dad is even talking about retirement now. He wants to settle down in some remote area where he can live happily with his wife.
She was sure that they went to look for such places when they sent her along with Jayden that day. And now, why does everything have to happen now. She definitely cannot let them do what they want with her family.
If her dad really knows about their sister's location then she would inform them. But if he was not involved then even if she had to get rid of them to protect her family then she would.
She made up her mind that she would stand next to her father and would support him indefinitely. She would never let anything happen to her parents, even if it means she had to kill Jayden and Aiden.
The only person she was now worried about was Elina. But love can be rewritten once again, so Elina had to move on and forget about Aiden. Didn't she forget about her first love, Logan?
