Just thinking about Jayden made Jennifer blush. She patted her cheeks to control the reactions happening to her body.
"What happened? Is it painful? I saw Cassie hit you so hard. You could have stopped her, why didn't you?" Elina asked while finally climbing down from her bed.
"I deserved it. It was me who slapped her first. I should have not done that in the first place"
"Still, it was wrong of her to speak so harshly. I know it was my fault but I did not expect her to hate me so much. I don't know what I did wrong?"
"It's ok. Don't worry. Come here, our first priority must be to finish all our exams and graduate successfully. I have marked important points to note for the first four chapters. I made one for you and another one for Cassie. Maybe..."
Before Jennifer could complete her sentence, Elina jumped in and said,
"Should I go and give it to her?"
"Are you crazy? Have you not heard the warning from her? Use your brain once in a while instead of thinking from your heart"
Jennifer wanted to go and bang her head on the drywall. When will she ever grow up? And to top all of that, she now knows Aiden. Everyone knows he is a normal person. He would kill anyone without blinking an eye if he sees them as a threat.
The only good thing she heard about him from her father was that he never hurt any innocent person in his life. Until or unless no one stands in his way, they can live their life peacefully. But once he sees anyone ganging up against him, he would show no mercy.
After taking a deep breath, Jennifer said, "Just come and sit here. And read these notes. If you have any doubts, let me know. I will clarify them for you"
"Ok"
When Elina sat next to her, she saw the reddish finger marks on Jennifer's cheeks. She knew that it would have hurt a lot. Cassie did not hold the strength back before hitting her.
"Wait! First, I will get you ice cubes. That looks very bad"
Elina rushed towards the mini refrigerator in their room. She took one of her old t-shirts and made it into a ball. She kept it on Jennifer's reddish cheeks and lifted it up.
"It's ok, I will do it myself. You start studying. We don't have much time anyways and we need to cover at least ten more chapters before we could sleep." Jeniffer said.
Elina lifted her head slightly and asked, "It must have been painful for Cassie when you hit her right? I don't know if anyone would be there to take care of her. Did you see her face? She looked like she was in an accident. There was a bandage on her leg too. I wanted to ask her about that but as she was too angry, I couldn't bring myself to talk."
"I noticed that but let us just hope that she would feel better staying away from us. Maybe we were never meant to meet her but fate played a cruel joke on us."
"I used to be in the same class as Lia last year. Should I check with her about Cassie? Lia doesn't talk to anyone much usually but I am really worried about Cassie."
"No! Give her some time. Maybe who knows all we need is to give each other some more time, then she might understand us and talk to us" Jennifer said.
"But, she said something about me and my family. I never met her before joining this college. And my family always stayed in another city. It was because you joined here, I was even allowed to attend the college in this city. There was no way anyone from my family or me could have even bumped into her before."
"I know! It is ok! Do not overthink, maybe it was a mistake. Who knows? Let us finish these exams first and then we will check what has happened?"
Elina just nodded her head but still felt heavy in her heart. She knows Cassie is not someone who would lie but at the same time her family would never hurt anyone.
Her dad's a philanthropist. He always focused on the good in everyone. He helped those who are in need. And even if they claimed to be an enemy he never treated them badly, rather he would help them if they were in exigency without a second thought.
He never stopped giving or doing good deeds even when he got hurt from that. And the remaining members in her family respected and always obeyed him.
She was brought up in a joint family. All of her close relatives lived together in the same house. Her house actually looked like a palace. There were twenty-eight people lived there. And everyone treated her like a little princess.
She never had to worry about anything. But now when someone pointed their fingers at her and her family, it hurts. She could not even point at anyone who could even think about doing something bad.
Jennifer hit her head and said, "Stop thinking rubbish and concentrate. I was calling your name for the last one hour. Where are you, my dear dream girl?"
"Ouch! It hurts! Do you know I was trying to think who could have hurt Cassie and why? You know how big my family is! But I am unable to point at even a single person."
"I told you that we will think about all these later. Once our exams are over. Now stop letting your mind wander around and study. Study young Lady! Study!"
Elina smiled lazily and finally looked at the points which were marked as important by Jennifer.
Meanwhile in Lia's room, Cassie dumped her luggage and sat on one of the beds while holding her leg. The pain was killing her. She should have accepted Lia's help. But no, she wanted to get this issue solved once and for all.
From now on, she has nothing to do with them anymore. She dropped her back on the bed and closed her eyes.
Lia who just came out of the bathroom looking at the luggage dropping on her bed, whistled.
"Oh! It looks like you are back. I don't know how you lived before, but here I do not like someone dropping their things on to my bed. Can you please remove it?"
"I am so sorry, I didn't mean to! But it was slightly heavy and …" Before she could even finish Lia stopped her.
"Mm.. mmh.. No more excuses! I do not want to hear any. Just remove them right now. Because you said you had nowhere to go, I allowed you to stay with me. But we should not overdo a few things. I hope you understand."
"I am sorry. I will be careful from next time onwards."
With a throbbing leg, she got up to lift the bag from Lia's bed. She then pushed it under the bed frame.
"Stop! What are you doing? You need to clean that place first. Didn't you notice how dirty it was? Yuck! Grow up girl! You are already an adult. Are you still going to behave like a schoolgirl, then?" Lia shouted harshly.
"I will clean it later. Do not worry! Just that…"
"Haha! Once again trying to tell your excuses to me? Stop that! If I had known that you're a failing character, I would have never let you stay with me. Finally I thought I would have this space all to myself. And look at me, getting one more troublesome roommate. What is wrong with youngsters nowadays? They are all too lazy and never do any work properly. I am going out right now, I may not come back tonight. I hope to not see any dirt in this room once I am back," Lia ordered and went in front of the mirror to apply makeup.
"Isn't it too late to go out now…"
"Shut up! And mind your own business. Did you think I didn't notice you went with one guy and came back with another? Look, I do not interfere in your personal life, so I expect the same from you! If you feel uncomfortable staying with me, You can leave anytime you want. I definitely won't stop you"
Cassie did not say anything anymore. She knew that Lia was going to a club by the way she dressed in such an exposing way. She was just concerned about her but if that concern is not welcome, she knows when to stop.
