Chapter 2 - Chapter 2 - God's Shrine, Goro Goro no Mi!

A fist-sized fruit with spiral-like thunder patterns, adding to that fact that if someone approached it, they would get an electric shock..... It was definitely the legendary Goro Goro no Mi!

Devil Fruits were the mystical products exclusive only to the One Piece World. Furthermore, they were divided into three types: Paramecia, Zoan, and Logia. This Goro Goro no Mi was a Logia type Devil Fruit; implication of which meant thunder and lightning of the heavens. Moreover, in Ron's heart, Goro Goro no Mi was the most perfect fruit of the One Piece World!

In terms of speed, it could allow one to instantly teleport anywhere within an electromagnetic field. In that sense, it was comparable to the Admiral "Kizaru" Borsalino's Devil Fruit; Pika Pika no Mi. Although the latter was known for his speed of light, in truth, he could not exactly reach the actual speed of light; the physics of the universe would never allow such a thing to happen.

An important fact to note about this was that at the speed of light, the mass of an object would become infinite.

If the factors such as friction, combustion, wear, and abrasion was not taken into consideration when moving at the speed of light, then the mass of the user possessing the Pika Pika no Mi's ability could very well destroy a whole continent; destroying a planet would also not be far-fetched in that case.

If Kizaru was that strong, would pirates still be playing around!

If that were to be the case, he would be able to sustain the whole World Government by himself!

In terms of offense, Thunderbolt's power was not weaker than any of the abilities out there. The terrifyingly high temperature and the applications of the flexible electro-magnetism made it so that it would not lose to any of the powers; regardless if it was the Whitebeard's "Gura Gura no Mi" that was capable of destroying the world or if it was Shanks' Haki or the Hawk Eyes' sword slash.

In terms of weaknesses, there were many things on earth that could interfere with the flow of electrons, therefore, affecting the electric current. However, in the One Piece World, apart from the ability user of the Gomu Gomu no Mi who could directly negate its power, Goro Goro no Mi practically had no nemesis.

Ordinary rubber could also not be considered its weakness at all as the heat generated by thunder and lightning could easily burn it. At most, like it was the case with any liquid and the Suna Suna no Mi ability user, a person relying on rubber would be able to touch the Goro Goro no Mi ability user as if the user was a real entity.

In the original work, Enel was the user of the Goro Goro no Mi. Even if he was defeated by Luffy in the end, Oda still considered him worthy of having a bounty of "500 million"; putting him amongst the experts of the experts in the New World. This fact alone proved how terrifying the Goro Goro no Mi was!

Enel's loss might have been very funny, but it was a serious matter for Ron. He had imagined having the Goro Goro no Mi many times before. He had always fantasized about what he would do to defeat Luffy if he were to get the Goro Goro no Mi.

Thereupon, he arrived in the One Piece World. Furthermore, like a weird coincidence, he appeared on Skypiea. After coming here, Ron's first reaction was to look for the legendary fruit. But because he was not able to determine what time or place it was everything became just a notion.

After he found Enel though, this notion quickly changed into an opportunity, which in turn transformed into the purest form of greed!

He was going to get this fruit!

There was no excuse to be made!

There was no justification to be done!

Those who would dare to stand against him would all be his life or death enemies.

...

Enel had always been bullied in Birka. Today, he was beaten, abused, cursed, and was called a freak and a deviant. As a result, he had no choice but to flee to the forbidden land ofthe God's Shrine to take refuge.

However, that was all just bullying; they had no intention to kill him.

Ron's naked malice and the evil intention was something that Enel had never seen before. So much so that, to him, this entity looked more like a man-eating beast than a human being.

It was similar to how when a beast captured a prey, it would not let any living creature near it and would protect its food from other wild animals and beasts.

ZhiZhi….

Suddenly, Ron heard something that sounded like a small stream of water. At the same time, a foul stench of urine also hit his nose. As Ron looked down to check its source, he noticed a dark spot on Enel's trouser, and a stream of liquid dripping down his thighs.

The future "Thundergod" Enel had seemingly been so scared by Ron that he ended up peeing in his trouser!

"Tch, useless waste!"

Ron frowned as his knuckle that was holding Enel's earlobe turned white from the hard pressure, so much so that blood started coming out of Enel's earlobe; causing him to frantically struggle in pain.

If this continued, his ear was going to be torn off by Ron.

People in One Piece World were generally strong. Even Enel, who looked very skinny, was not much weaker than Ron who had a body that had been tempered through hard work all his life. Resultantly, Enel's frantic struggle started to affect Ron as his hand became sore.

However, Ron was like an iron statue. No matter how much Enel struggled, Ron did not let go of his earlobe. Instead, he wrapped his hand around it in a circle and once again pulled Enel closer to his face, "I am not going to ask this for the third time. Have you seen that fruit?"

"In…Inside the shrine…"

Tears and nasal mucus mixed on Enel's face as he grabbed his ear and painfully shrieked, "I've seen that fruit, it's on the hand of the God's statue!"

The shrine that Enel was talking about was the only building in the God's Shrine. Skypiea had no soil, no trees, and no stones. Everything, from the building to the pavements, was built using island clouds.

Just opposite of these two people existed a building completely made of island clouds. Its eaves were painted with a well-known red pigment, whereas its walls were filled with murals. These murals depicted the images of huge winged-people with bird-like beaks flying in the sky filled with lightning.

"Is it in there?"

Ron's eyes were filled with an ominous glint as he left Enel and rushed ahead.

Taking note of his actions, the soldiers that were outside of the God's Shrinesuddenly started burning with anxiety.

"Not good! He is going inside the shrine!"

"Where are the God'sPriests? Quickly, call them!"

"Lord Priests have all gone on an inspection round. They will not return till afternoon!"

God's Shrine was the holy land for the people of Birka. It had a similar status for them as the "City of Gold" Shandora had for Shandians; as the "Holy Land" Marijoa had for Celestial Dragons. Anyone who dared to enter it without permission would have their heads chopped off by the King. The only ones who could enter it were theGod'sApostles and theGod's Priests; and that too only after they would wash, change their clothes, and worship the God.

Ignoring Enel, who was bawling his eyes out, and the soldiers, who were cursing him endlessly, Ron kicked open the entrance gate with a "Bang". After the gate opened, Ron swept his eyes inside the room, and soon, his eyes stopped at one specific place.

"Found it!"

Inside the shrine was a statue that resembled both a bird and a human. It had three heads, six arms, and a body made entirely of gold. There were three items in its hands; a golden trident, a golden drum, and a prayer bead. Apart from this, there was also a table covered in red cloth in front of it. A golden dish filled with offerings was placed on top of it, together with the golden cauldrons that stood on both of its sides.

But Ron was not paying attention to the huge amount of gold at all. Instead, all of his attention was gathered on top of the flat palm that was in the middle of the cross-legged statue.

A plump azure fruit covered in spiral-shaped thunder patterns was lying on that palm. The radiance from the lightning, which flickered on it from time to time, filled the room and gave the golden statue a revering luster. It was awe-inspiring,to say the least.

This fruit was the same Devil Fruit that Ron had yearned for in his dreams.

Goro Goro no Mi!

"Power of Logia, here I come!"

Ron walked over in excitement, stepping onto the table made for tributes, and reached out his hand to grab it.

Just at this moment, a soft sigh resounded in the empty shrine.

"Blasphemer, step back!"

Bang!

In contrast to the sigh, a dreadful sonic-boom appeared in the room; creating an ear-splitting sound.

Ron's fingers were only three centimeters away from the Goro Goro no Mi. He was very close to grabbing it, so much so that he even felt numb from the effect its lightning. But just at this moment, an extremely strong impact hit his waist and directly sent him flying.

Pu...!

Ron spurted out blood as he flew back without being able to resist at all. Pain filled his body as he hit the wall hard at the end. He curled his body in agony as he dropped down to the ground while clutching the earth with his hands.

This was a power that he had never felt before.

Before whenever he got into fights, only his body part that was hit would hurt and ache. But this time, his whole skeleton was creaking with pain. His forehead was covered in cold sweat as he tried hard to open his eyes. His saliva mixed with his blood dripped down to the floor from the corner of his mouth.

"… God has left behind a prophecy. While that fruit would bestow a formidable power, it would also bring about a catastrophic disaster."

A gray-robed old man with wings on his back and a bright forehead walked out from the corner of the room. He neither had a sad expression, nor he had a happy one; neither was he angry at Ron nor was he pleased with the result of his attack. One way to describe his expression would be 'tranquil as water'; completely stable…..like an old dog.

As he spoke, he walked up to Ron who was still curled up on the ground and stood beside him. The old man then lifted his palm and pointed at Ron. At the center of his palm, there was a red shell tied to his hand with a rope. The attack just now had come from this same shell.

This shell was actually one of the special products of Skypiea; Impact Dial.

It could absorb any outside impact and store it inside the shell. If someone needed to release that impact, they just had to press the release button and wait for the magical ending.

From the fact that the soldiers outside did not dare to approach the shrine, it was clear that its status was indeed extraordinary. Similarly, the fact that this old man could stay inside the shrine, not to mention with an Impact Dial in hand, proved that his status too did not leave any room for doubt.

Correspondingly, the Impact Dial that he used was bound to be of the top-quality; as such, it would definitely be capable of shooting an attack that was far more powerful than a common Impact Dial.

Not dying by this powerful attack, it was already a proof that Ron's physique was different than ordinary people.

"You came to this place with that fruit as your target; this proves that you know what it is….But it does not belong to you, Blue Sea person. Therefore….."

"Hmm?"

"qiqi qi...."

As the old man was speaking, Ron suddenly sneered and started laughing. Seeing him laugh in a crazy and delighted manner, the old man suddenly had a bad premonition in his heart. The always calm and composed old man's expression immediately changed as he frowned and shouted,

"What are you laughing at?"

"I'm laughing at what you said... you old fool."

Ron lifted his head with blood still there on the corner of his mouth, and spat out a mouthful of blood phlegm, "You just said 'that fruit' right? Is this what you were talking about?"

Dong, Dong,Dong,Dong,…..

At the same time he spoke, he also let go of the azure fruit and let it roll towards the old man's feet. From what he could see, there were clear and distinct teeth marks on the fruit, and the pulp inside carried a trace of blood.

"Not good!"

The old man's pupils suddenly constricted as he turned around to take a look.

The statue was still sitting cross-legged as before, but the fruit on top of its palm had already disappeared.
