Chapter 1 - Gravity

Somewhere in the busiest city in the entire world, lies a well-appointed duplex penthouse suite sitting atop of a high-end 50-story property. A usually decent man appeared to be helplessly surrounded by a sombre setting, is struggling to get the balance of his feet as he tries to get up in distress.

As elegant as the residence, the absolute opposite of the man looks, a typical rich man deep in spiritual debt. Barely on his feet, the man managed to stand up with the help of his favourite golf club, given by his childhood-friend golf athlete superstar. Without a doubt, the man looks unclear whether which property of his is he at, due to excessive consumption of strictly prescription drugs. As he glances around his luxurious property he noticed a woman outside the glass wall floating calmly staring back at him.

Deep dejection seemed to be affecting his common sense tremendously that led him to rush to his balcony to save the woman whom he thinks is his wife which also happened to be dead 6 months ago due to a plane crash.

The moment he gets closer, the woman mumbled, "Keep your eyes open, my love", then just fell straight to the ground.

"NOOO!"

With the adrenaline pumping to his head, he hurried his way outside his unit to reach the elevator while tensed by the incident. Heavy breathing, thousand thoughts per second, and enormous pain, like nothing else can go any worse.

As he reaches the ground floor for exactly 333.27 seconds, he ran outside the building to find the woman's body, but she's nowhere to be found. The man asked the people who are passing by if they saw a woman fell from the top floor, but everyone is just looking at him with confusion painted to their faces.

Busy street, crowded sidewalks, vendors and heavy traffic, but no ambulance nor dead woman's body. He leaned his back against the lamppost, checked his pockets, found a gold plated cigarette case and a lighter, then smoked.

Contemplating, he noticed a beggar, walking around asking people for money. He kept his eye on the boy and never looked away. As he stares all along, the boy stopped at the spot in front of the TV stall where he watched the commercial of a newly released breakfast cereal brand.

A sudden change had occurred to the man's behaviour as if he acquired a sense of hope seeing the most pitiful, yet positive, and innocent kid he has seen for a decade. The boy looked familiar as he went closer, the man knows for sure he can't be wrong about the familiar face.

The man asked, "How old are you?"

"Six", the boy replied unbothered.

"Have you tried the cereal?"

"In my dreams, yes. People like me can only get a chance to touch the box from the dumpster."

"But do you want it?"

"There's no way I can ever get at least a taste of it."

"I'm asking if you want it?"

"I only have 20 cents, and a box costs 3 bucks!"

"Your pockets have 20 cents, the person you are talking to right now is worth millions."

"You are a millionaire?"

The man fell to one's knees and grabbed the kid's hand to give him a sight of the shiniest, well-polished, precious stone made wristwatch the kid has ever seen in his entire life even on the TV.

"Listen, kid. When the universe asked what your heart truly desire, never, I mean NEVER hesitate to be vocal about it. Learn how to ask, and you shall receive."

"I've always been keen on getting the toy car from the TV, but my parents nor the UNIVERSE can afford it."

"You never had a toy car in your life?"

"I mean I have but they weren't brand new, my dad collected them either from donations or garbage site."

"But you got them, and had a chance to play them?"

"Yea, but..."

"Have you been specific to the universe that you want a brand new toy?"

"My heart always wanted a clean brand new toy, the universe must know that."

The man smiled and said, "Let's go get that cereal."

"REALLY?!"

"Come on."

The man stood up, and out of nowhere, a familiar voice to the boy was heard.

"Alex! Alex! The time!"

The kid is confused as they look around.

"Alex, you are running late again! Your school will be forced to kick you out for a bad performance and reputation you are giving them!"

He realized everything was just a dream.

"Alex!"

Alex opened his eyes...
