As the morning dew set, the girl crawled out of her cave. With no answers as to the reason of her existence, she trotted over to the pond again. She stuck her feet in and was fascinated by the new sensation of the cold water on her toes. Looking to the sky she mulled over the events of 'life' so far. Yesterday's world of firsts had taken a toll on the girl, leaving her even more confused then before. She could tell she was intelligent, but couldn't really grasp what intelligence was. She knew how to use her limbs, and had a rough understanding of her body, but wasn't sure if she was ever taught. Did she lose her memory? Maybe she was dropped off by someone or something? But were there others like her? Was all her actions based on instinct, or did she have knowledge burried deep inside of her? She had so many questions but no way to gain answers. Feeling the now familiar emotions of confusion and frustration she was interrupted by something new. Her body felt ill, as if it was hollow and empty. Her throat began to burn as it screamed for liquid. She felt her insides twist in agony, as she bent over nearly being sick from the pain. She experienced pain yesterday when she had fallen trying to walk, but this was nothing like that. This was hunger. The girl began to panic as instinct tried to take over. her vision began to blur, but she could hear every noise in the forest. Her sense of smell heightened as she began to sniff like a beast looking for a trail. The burning desire in her throat couldn't take waiting anymore, as she let out a cry that was similar to a wounded animal.
She needed to find something to stop this, she was losing control. It was then that her ears picked up on the sound of a small creature, venturing through the wooded area. The girl immediately ran towards it. She must catch it. She must have it. She must! A small rabbit was now in her sights. Without any hesitation she instinctively pounced, her vision now tunneling in on the hare. It ran, narrowly dodging death. She gave chase, quickly losing all control to desire. Her pace increased as she narrowed in on her prey. With one last leap, she tackled the hare, bearing her teeth into it's soft flesh.
As it's life left the hare's eyes, it's blood seeped into the girls throat. Like a rabid animal she continued to devour it's flesh. Her throat began to soothe and her senses began to return. Now covered in blood the girl was even more lost in the forest, and had learned a valuable lesson. Never let yourself feel hunger.
"SIRE! IT'S AN EMERGENCY, SIRE! PLEASE GET UP AT ONCE!" Screamed a frantic old man, while banging his fist on a large door.
Inside, a sleepless looking man in his 30s sat up from the bed. To his best guess it had to be around 4 in the morning. What in all the lands could be so important? He looked over at his wife, Maureen, who was still deep in sleep. He envied her ability to sleep through anything. "What is it Morris?", he asked while opening the door a crack, annoyance clearly heard in his voice. "This better be-"
"SIRE! It's Madame Wisay! She began screaming and won't stop! She seems to have had a horrible vision! Sire, please! Come to the deer's chambers, this may be an omen of the fall of the Empire!", the elderly man named Morris interrupted. His panic very clearly shown on his aged face.
In all of the years that the Hallewell family had Seers, none had ever had such a reaction to a vision. Alvin Hallewell quickly dressed and rushed over to the servant's quarters with his trusted aide. During the short trip he was told that the Madame was stating she felt as if she would have a vision and went to her chambers early. After 4 hours, her personal maid went to check on her only to find the Madame covered in sweat with a pained expression. The maid called for a doctor, but knew the dangers of waking a Seer mid vision, so kept him at the Madame's side with her until she awoke. After almost 4 more hours, the Madame began to scream in agony, and hasn't stopped! Morris was called to the quarters shortly before the Madame began to scream, thus saw everything and ran to get the master of the house!
"Sire, Madame Wisay is not in her right mind and is speaking in tongues while screaming in pain! We have gathered some scribes to record her words but it doesn't make any sense. Sire, the Doctors have never seen a Seer have this kind of reaction. The only records that even come close is that of the ancient empire, where Wisewomen began speaking in tongues with pained expression, having gone mad right before the end of their reign!"
Alvin could hear the screams of pain before they reached the bedchamber. Before opening the door he calmed himself for what ever he may see. As he pushed open the door the view of Madame Wisay, a beautiful woman who was dressed in the most sinful of clothing, screaming with tears rolling down her cheeks. Maids and attendants held down he limbs as her body arched in an unnatural way. As if possessed, the gorgeous woman twisted and fought to get free while screaming nonsensical words of the other worlds. As Alvin approached he could see the sorrow and terror on her face. He peered into eyes, noticing all of the once beautiful hues of gold had vanished, leaving her eyes completely black. "Tatiana, It's Alvin, come back. Come back to your senses." he said sweetly. But it was to no avail. Alvin looked at the Doctors who had been gathered. "What do you make of this? Is there any way to stop this!? To ease her pain!? " he demanded.
"Sorry Sire, this is the first time we have witnessed this." was the only reply he recieved.
"Morris, no one speaks of what happens in this room. I will leave that to you. Also, find out if there are any other Seers around going through the same thing. If the omen is that bad, she can't be the only one."
"Yes Sire", and with that Morris went.
