Chapter 13 - Plan Put Into Action

"How am I supposed to get that far behind enemy lines?!", Magnus shouted, irate that the General would tell him to do such a absurd thing, "Are you insane?! It'll never work!"

"Put these on.", the General said, prompting Russel to throw the civilian clothes on.

Magnus didn't notice the clothes quickly approaching him. As soon as he noticed, the struck him. The clothes hit his face and fell to the ground. Magnus saw this, and quickly picked them up, as if he were a dog that was watching some food fall off of his master's fork and land on the ground.

"So, what do when I'm in Deutschland, it's not like I can speak their language.", Magnus said, still finding flaws in the General's orders, seeking to get a plan that he thought would work.

"Yes you can, you just have to think about it. It should take about 16 minutes to learn.", Russel spoke. Magnus was reminded of Russel's existence for the first time after he was told that everything he knew about his friend was a lie.

"Oh yeah, I can do that. Wait! Russel, tell me, what's going on?!", Magnus asked, knowing that Russel would tell him the complete truth.

"Everything that the General has told you was the truth. I believe also that this is the quickest way to end the war.", Russel responded, now unaffected by Magnus' presence. Magnus realized that that was probably an act too. Russel was most likely told by the General to act towards Magnus as he would act towards himself.

"So, Magnus, after you go destroy everything related to the bomb, you will have to cripple the Deutschland industry. All you will have to do is absolutely blow the Industrial Zone into complete and utter oblivion.", when the General said this, a small grin creepily crept across his face.

The General continued, stifling his encroaching smile, "For that purpose, you are going to come back here when your current mission is complete and learn how to fly.", the General explained in an authoritative tone.

"You're going to make me a pilot?!", Magnus questioned, realizing that all of this was possible through his status as an Administrator.

"Yes. Actually, if we were to teach you now, you could just fly to the research facility... But I think what we have you doing right now is better. Don't you agree, Russel?"

Russel looked at the General like a dog looks at his master with a treat in-hand. "Yes, that will be much more suiting to Magnus' strong points and will be more effective in the long run. If he were to fly a UPC plane over Deutschland skies, he would probably be shot down and imprisoned."

"Well, now that that matter's settled, get changed into those clothes, learn the language of the Deutschlanders, and report back here immediately. We will have a bag with your necessary supplies and a car waiting for you."

The General gave Magnus his orders, having full confidence in Magnus' abilities as he was told directly by Russel. Standing up, the General spoke to him, saying, "Now get going! We don't have all day!"

Magnus replied, "Yes, sir!", feeling rather rushed, but understanding the situation, and left the General's tent, running over to his own.

Magnus went into his tent, and started getting undressed. He said, "Hey, Amicus, should I really go through with this? I mean, I could maybe try to use my leverage as the only human Admi-"

"Let me stop you right there, Magnus.", Amicus cut in, "That Administrator has complete dominion over the earth, while you barely know what you can do. All I can say is to not go against what he says. Just make like a soldier and listen to your commanding officer."

Magnus decided he would listen to Amicus, understanding that he clearly was in over his head. He understood that he would have to work on both his Administrative powers and maturing into an adult. Sure, he was a legal adult, but he didn't really act like it, being only 22.

Returning after twenty-two minutes, he grabbed the bag and the car-keys.

"Look Rus-", Magnus started, but was promptly interrupted by Russel.

"Magnus, I still consider you my friend. Even though I betrayed you, I was following the third law. I do not feel guilty for what I have done, I will still apologize for leading you to believe a lie. I'm sorry."

Magnus, feeling a little better about the Russel situation, was led to the car by the General.

"Now look, Magnus,", the General shouted so that he could be heard over the roar of the engine, "just don't get captured, as long as that doesn't happen, we'll be golden! Once you blow that research facility sky high, book it over to the government office and delete all records of the project!

"Once you do that, get back here ASAP, and use any extra explosives on any factories you come across! You should have about 5 extra from after blowing up the lab! Alright, off you go! Godspeed, soldier!", the General saluted Magnus as he was going to go and brave the Deutschland territory behind the front lines.

Magnus put the petal to the metal, driving south so he could enter Deutschland's borders through a neutral country. When night fell, he stopped the car off on the side of the road, covered up, and slept. Seeking to brush up on his Deutschlander speak, he asked Amicus if they could only speak in Deutsche.

"You want to speak in Deutsche tonight? That's find with me.", Amicus replied to Magnus' question.

That night was a longer night. They spoke about what Amicus knew about the general lives of Administrators, what life was like for an Administrator, how many there were, and the conversation wasn't all that interesting, until Magnus asked, "Has there ever been war among Administrators?"

Amicus responded, "There has been many wars, usually between individual Administrators. Seeking to expand their domain, Administrators usually attacked the Administrators of planets inhabited by life. To rule over intelligent life was the ultimate goal of these wars.

"To feel like a god is essentially what these Admins wanted. Most Admins tried to rule over planets with intelligent life, but some wanted to influence the evolution into intelligent life, so they tried to get planets with animals, or at the very least, plants."

Amicus continued, with Magnus' attention in the palm of his hand, "The reason for this was because either an Administrator wanted to dominate another Administrator, or they were too impatient for their planet to produce its own life.

"Around this time, there was a great faction war. Two Administrators wanted each other's planets, but they both already had over five hundred. Understanding that the other was extremely powerful, they both gathered armies of Administrators, not knowing diplomacy.

"But no, they didn't stop at gathering armies of Administrators. They influenced the life on their planets to achieve space-travel, and declared war. The war wasted trillions of lives, and ended hundreds of Administrators. Because of this, my siblings and I were born. The Creator knew that this could happen again, so he decided that Admins should only control one planet each."

Magnus felt like he still didn't know enough about the Administrators, nor about his powers, but that would have to wait for tomorrow night, as he felt the sun on his eyes.

"Good morning, I'll talk to you tomorrow night, or during the day if I feel I can focus whilst driving.", Magnus said, sure he would wake up any second.

"Alright, I will talk to you then.", Amicus replied. But Magnus didn't wake up.

"What's going on? I should've woken up by now!", Magnus asked, frantically searching for the reason. He turned to Amicus for answers, "Amicus, what's going on?! Do you know?!"

Amicus responded, "You've probably been drugged or knocked out, or maybe even killed. That'll keep you asleep for longer."

As Amicus was saying this, Magnus felt his body moving.

"What's going on?! Am I being taken somewhere?!", Magnus was growing anxious and desperately tried to wake himself up.

"Magnus! Stop doing that! If you really have been injured, you should relax. You're body is repairing itself right now, just settle down and it'll go faster."

Magnus heard Amicus' words and was coaxed into calming down.

"Magnus, why don't I just tell you what your abilities as an Admin are right now. Just keep calm, no matter what you feel is happening to your body."
