Chereads / My Final Breath / Chapter 36 - a new day

Chapter 36 - a new day

"Good morning." Senator Rodrigo whispered to the woman in his arms as her eyes fluttered open. The bloodstained sheets had been changed during the night and she had looked surprised when her first time was painful, as if she had forgotten that she was a virgin.

"Oops!" She had cringed as he broke through her. "I forgot how much that hurt… oh Jesus! Oh my… Ahhhh!" He couldn't stop, even seeing her in pain made something inside him flare up. It was a much more pleasurable night after her hymen ceased to exist.

"Good morning." She grinned lazily before picking up herself. She draped the covers around herself and went into the bathroom. "Ugh…" She groaned as pain seared through her thighs and back. What a beast, she thought as she glanced at the man in the bed.

Her horror doubled when he joined her in the shower and went for another round. Her voice was hoarse by the time they ate breakfast. "This was a one-time thing, Senator. I'll contact you tomorrow with appointment details and a plan." He stared at the woman in front of him and wondered how she could be so nonchalant about losing her virginity.

Before he could do anything, she slung her handbag on her shoulder whilst wearing her spare clothes and nodded at him before reaching for the handle. She tried to open the door but found that it wasn't opening. "Why leave so quickly?" He asked as he crept up behind her. "Stay for the day… it's already lunch-time. You might as well fill yourself." His breath on her ear made her knees wobble but she knew that she had to hold her ground.

"I have things to do, unlike you apparently, Senator." Her tone was meant to diminish the mood but he didn't let it as he began kissing the sensitive spot under her ear. "Stop it… I really need to go…"

"But this is a one time thing, isn't it? I should take full advantage of you since I won't get you again. And call me Chris, not Senator. You were screaming it last night…" His hands began fumbling underneath her clothes and her hands stopped him.

"We can make it a two time thing, let me go for today. I need to go to the hospital." She shuddered as his hands pinched her. He stopped and turned her around.

He sighed and nodded before kissing her lips. He took his time and left her face red by the time he was done, he smirked, proud of himself, and leaned into the eye scanner that let her escape. She grinned and turned to leave. "I lied, it was a one time thing. Byeee!" She giggled and ran from the gaping politician.

"As if I'd let that happen…" He shouted at her back and her reply was a cackle.

Alisha stared at the tall walls of the hospital. She walked into a small room with the number 1404R written on it. She had brought nothing with her, save her scowling face. "Hello, Gwendoline." She greeted the woman.

"My daughter's calling me by name now?" Gwen cackled as she stared at Alisha. "Come closer, I haven't seen you in years. Ten years." Gwen stared at her daughter, she saw features of James on Alisha's face, However she saw herself in Alisha too, her hands, her hair, her lips. James' eyes, nose and facial structure blessed Alisha but his thin lips and large hands didn't. She had once hated that her daughter looked like the man that ruined her life. Now things were different, she felt emptier inside because she didn't have much time to live. She had gathered the courage to reach out to her daughter and unlike in her last life, Alisha decided to visit Gwendoline.

"What's your condition like?" Alisha asked softly. Gwen laughed as she noticed the hostility and pain in her daughter's eyes and yet, Alisha was still better than her.

"They said I have six months at most. The drinking finally killed me… it's probably karma." She commented as her eyes became misty. She stared at her daughter and like an x-ray she knew where all of her hidden scars were. Though concealed away, she knew they existed.

"Probably." Alisha stared at her frail mother, the image of her mother from the past was different to the one she saw now. Was Gwen always this small? She wondered. She remembered a monster, not a vegetable.

"Probably!" Gwendoline chuckled as she tried to sit up. Alisha, almost out of instinct, went to help her. Guilt found its way into Gwen's veins. How could I have been such a terrible person to someone that loved me so unconditionally?

"Alisha, I'm so sorry. I know it's not enough, it will never be enough. Never forgive me or anyone who hurt you like I did. I can't ever make up for what I did to you… but I love you. Because I love you I couldn't help but hate you." Seeing her mother sob made her feel pain in her heart, she couldn't forgive her mother but she couldn't help but feel pain. I should be angry, shouldn't I? Alisha asked herself. She had enough scars on her body to show for her mother's abuse. Why do I love such a shitty mother?

"I remember the day I found out I was pregnant… Unlike every person around me I was so happy. I was even happier it was a girl, I could dress you up and make you my little princess. Then… then I was kicked out of my home and told to abort you by James. However, you were my baby, I still loved you so much. I decided I would raise you by myself. You… you look so much like him. Your eyes, your nose, your face… even he can't deny it. As a baby, you probably had your happiest years. I had a stable job and I would love you so much… but then you grew up. I couldn't help but see his face and feel so much anger. What a shitty mother I am…" Alisha began to cry as her mother squeezed her hand. "You deserve so much better than your garbage parents." Gwen cried.

"You're right… I really do."

Forgiveness was never an option, both women knew that. However, Alisha could still love her mother without forgiving her. She could still spend her mother's final six months of living with her. Perhaps then her mother could forgive herself.

Unfortunately, their peace was short lived. The doors of Gwen's room opened and a person Alisha hadn't talked to in two years came in. "James…?" Gwendoline's eyes widened as she saw the man holding a bouquet of flowers came into her room.

"Alisha… what are you doing here?" James hadn't seen his daughter in a long time, save on TV, he wondered why she was here.

"My biological mother is dying, I thought I would visit her. What are you doing here?" Alisha replied coldly. He raised an eyebrow and placed the flowers next to the bed.

"I heard from my assistant that Gwen was dying and thought I'd visit for old times sake." He said it as if he expected them to thank him for gracing them with his appearance. Gwen and Alisha scoffed at the man.

"Get out." Gwendoline coldly ordered him. James looked taken aback, he assumed she'd be ecstatic to see him. She once told him that she'd love him regardless of what he did.

"No one wanted you here Mr Richards." Alisha's words sliced the air. James knew that she didn't particularly like him but he didn't think his daughter hated him. "I need to get going too. Mama, I'll visit you often. Mr Richards… don't tell Eliza about this. She'll get all dramatic." Alisha smiled thinking about Eliza's reaction… seeing Alisha smile made Gwen smile. That and the fact that she had called Gwen 'Mama' rather than Gwendoline. She might die peacefully.

Alisha went to Saint's home to discuss business. "Saint it's Genevieve, code 1603." She spoke into the door before it dinged and let her enter.

"Alisha!!!" The young girl squeezed Alisha before leading her in. "How was your meeting with the mystery client?" She asked.

"It was Senator Rodrigo, he wants to win the Presidency and wants to use Genevieve to do so. He also knows that I'm Genevieve…" She decided not to expand on their meeting. "Let's discuss who we allocate to him and the plan to win. Also in return I'll be vice - it's a good thing I have power. I'm glad the age restriction of thirty-five was moved back to twenty." Alisha laughed as she leaned back on the couch.

"This will be easy. Our political system is garbage. I can probably hack into the mainframe and win the election for Rodrigo… but that's for the end. I might not even have to do so if we can use some good old-fashioned propaganda." Saint smiled devilishly and began formulating a plan with Alisha.

Chris Rodrigo was working through some paperwork when he received a message from Alisha.

'Meet me at the Grand Orchid tomorrow, tell me when your availability is.' He grinned at her efficiency.

'I can do 8-10am.' He replied. He wasn't done though. 'I can also do you from 10pm into the next day after that too.' He sent a winking emoji and made Alisha cringe slightly.

'I'll be busy' was the reply he received. He chuckled and put down his phone. He added her meeting into his schedule and called his assistant. He wondered what she would be doing instead of him.

Alisha strutted into her home, she had moved out two years ago once her profits came in. It wasn't a house, it was a mansion. Yet, she felt so alone within it. The walls were too big and the space was too much. She felt too small, too alone in it.

Her phone buzzed, she turned to see a photo from Senator Rodrigo. The contents made her blush but she was tempted, she felt too alone, too small. She wondered if inviting him over would make her loneliness disappear, at least for a second. Her fingers moved on their own and she stared at his contact, wondering if she should call him. Before she could, her phone began to ring.

"Chris, why are you calling me?" She asked as she gulped dryly.

"You didn't respond to the photo." He replied playfully. She rolled her eyes and wondered how on Earth he was popular.

"What would I even have said?" She asked, deciding to play along. She heard him move before he answered.

"Wow, what a hot bod! Ooh, I want that! Come over, now!" He mimicked her voice, making her choke on her saliva.

"HAHAHA! What was that?!" She burst out, surprising him. "I do not sound like that!" She flipped herself onto her belly on her bed. "Well, your body isn't the worst." She decided to say.

"Hmm? What was that?" He asked cheekily. He heard a seductive giggle before he heard words he wasn't sure he'd hear.

"W-why don't you come over? I'm rather bored." She asked. Her voice felt dry and her palms sweaty. The phone suddenly cut. "What the f- what?" She stared at the blank screen and wondered if she'd been rejected. She didn't care much, she just felt lonely.

She decided to go shower and was leaving her shower in her bathrobe when the doorbell rang. She went to open it and found the politician grinning at her. Her head cocked to the side as her brows wrinkled in confusion. "What are you- no way. Nuh uh. You did not hang up on me so that you could… Men are so weird." She commented as she let him into her home.

"Nice house." He looked at the chic house as he walked in. Tall walls dyed in grey, plants in random places, a huge chandelier, every step in made him realise how well off this woman was. He knew that she could destroy him if he made one wrong move, but something told him that she wouldn't. She wasn't petty.

"Would you like a glass of water?" She asked as she placed him on a barstool at her kitchen counter. He nodded and watched as she poured him water. Her waves were wet and her skin rosy, she had obviously just showered. The robe seemed to cling to her, her waist clenched in and the slit showing her long legs. He wondered if he'd been a God in his past life to be able to see her in this kind of situation. She noticed his lustful gaze and glanced at him before she passed him his water.

"You can come with me to the meeting tomorrow." She told him before leading him into her bedroom.
