Evelyn stormed inside the house. The maids were startled to see her as they were aware of who else was in the house. They shifted around nervously as Evelyn didn't stop to look at them.
Evelyn quickly walked up the stairs. She wasn't thinking and was working purely on adrenaline. She marched to the bedroom, Zain and Jinhai not far behind. Butler Chu had ushered everyone out of earshot. He understood that any witnesses would be set up for slaughter.
Evelyn got to the door of the master bedroom and paused for just a moment. She wasn't sure she wanted to do this. But then the sounds of moaning inside had her throwing all reason to the wind.
The door flew open with a bang. The couple inside flew apart. Amy quickly reaching for something to cover herself but not before everyone had a good view of her assets.
Shawn simply grabbed a pillow to cover his manhood before he turned around with a furious expression on his face.
"Who the fuck do you think you are barging into my-" he stopped talking when his eyes zeroed in on Evelyn and the two guys behind her.
"First off, it's still our room. Not that I would want it now that you've defiled it with her." Evelyn pointed to the bed at a very red faced Amy.
"What are you doing here? This place is no longer yours." He bellowed at her. His own face was red as well. Evelyn however was eerily calm.
"I would have thought you would have had more class than to bring her here and screw her in our bed." She said. Her voice betrayed no emotions.
"I would have thought as a woman that you would have enough self resepct not to have sex on the same bed that he shared with another woman. But I forget who I'm talking to. You clearly don't have a standard set of morals." Evelyn directed her comment at Amy. Amy's face twisted into something ugly.
"You're just angry he left you for me. You haven't even slept with him in almost half a year. He has needs and I took care of them," Amy tossed at her.
"Actually we had sex in that bed a couple of days ago, I'm relatively sure the sheets haven't been changed yet," Evelyn commented. It was a lie but Evelyn didn't feel the need to be honest with this breed of woman. Amy's face started to turn purple.
'Pathetic' Evelyn thought. She tried to put on this sweet innocent face back at the Cafe. But she now saw that she was anything but.
"Enough!" Shawn bellowed.
"I haven't even gotten started," she said leveling her eyes at him.
"What the hell are you even doing here? This doesn't concern you. As far as I'm concerned we are no longer husband and wife. After all you have two guys standing behind you right now." He said. Evelyn raised an eyebrow.
"I'm not having relations with them the way you are with your guest," she said eyeing the couple on the bed with distain. She looked around the room and noticed that all the things she had left lying around were gone. He instructed someone to get rid of her stuff? She wondered.
"Whatever Evelyn. Whatever you do is your business and whatever I do is mine," he said.
"Wait a second, you arranged for that stupid competition because of her didn't you." He said to Jinhai. Jinhai was giving him the look of death.
"Excuse you?" He said coldly. So coldly that even Evelyn paused in her crusade to glance back at him.
"You decided to turn the pitch into an open competition for her," Shawn said again pointing a finger at Evelyn. Jinhai didn't say anything. He was probably holding himself back or he would jump on the bed and murder Shawn.
"We approached you first!" Shawn nearly shouted.
"It was originally my proposal," Evelyn said.
"You were going to use Cheng resources. It belongs to us." He threw back at her.
"Keep it." She said. She was loosing interest in this conversation fast. She turned around and walked passed the boys. They turned to the side and let her.
She turned and went down the stairs. When she got to the ground level she heard scuffling upstairs. It sounded like Shawn was coming after her.
She took a look around and saw that the pictures were gone. All of their memories were gone.
Butler Chu came to stand in the corner of the room. She turned to him.
"He threw everything out?" She asked him.
"Yes," he answered her in a low tone. Evelyn who had been feeling mostly numb felt the sparks of anger.
"All of my pictures?" She asked him. He nodded his reply. Evelyn's hands clenched into fists.
Shawn bounded down the stairs, Jinhai and Zain hot on his heels. Shawn had put on a pair of pants.
"Get out of my house," he bellowed. Evelyn didn't flinch.
"Chu! Call security!" He screamed again Butler Chu. Butler Chu hesitated.
"Gladly, but you can't kick me out. I still own this piece of property." She said.
"Get out!" He yelled. Jinhai grabbed him by the scruff of the neck and shoved him the rest of the way down the steps. He was only three steps from the bottom so it wasn't a long fall. Shawn fell on his hands and knees on the wooden floors.
"Who did that!" He yelled turning around.
Neither man answered him as they continued to descend the stairs. They got to the bottom and went to Evelyn's side.
"Let's go," Jinhai mumbled so only Evelyn and Zain could hear him. She nodded.
"I'm sorry," she mouthed to Butler Chu who had run to Shawn to help him up. He nodded at her and Evelyn went to the back of the house to get to the garage.
The guys followed her as Shawn was cursing up a storm behind them. She went straight to her silver Audi. She unlocked the car door and got in. The guys got in without hesitation.
She drove to the entrance and dropped Zain off so he could get his car.
"You're not going with him?" She asked Jinhai. He shook his head.
She heard something bang against her trunk then hit the ground and shatter. She turned around. Shawn had a bottle in his hand and was coming at them.
"Oh hell no," she said. She put the car in reverse and stepped on the gas.
"Evelyn!" Jinhai's voice sounded slightly panicked. She ignored him. She when she got close she stepped on the brake nearly hitting Shawn.
He fell backward and the other bottle in his hand slipped from his grasp. She rolled her window down.
"My bad, I thought it was in drive." She said putting her car back in drive and driving off. She stuck her hand out and gave a wave.
She passed Zain's car and he followed her. When they were down the block Jinhai started laughing. Jinhai's phone vibrated in his pocket and he took it out. He was still laughing when he answered it.
"Did she hit him?" Zain asked.
"No, I almost wish she did though," Jinhai was still laughing.
"He threw something at my car. I almost didn't brake," Evelyn said.
"Evelyn we don't solve problems by trying to run them over," he lectured. She could hear him choking back his own laughter.
"You wouldn't have tried that if someone threw a glass bottle at your car?" She asked.
"I wouldn't have braked." He said. Jinhai was starting to sober up then started up again.
"Sorry, next time I won't brake." Evelyn said as she was navigating the streets.
"So where are you going?" Zain asked.
"Home. Actually now I'm kind of hungry." She said.
"What are you hungry for?" Jinhai asked.
"I don't know, let's go to a supermarket. I need to stock up on food anyway," she said. She looked up a supermarket near her house. It was 5 minutes away by car. Luckily it was open until midnight.
"Okay, I'll follow you," Zain said. They drove to the supermarket and she parked in the lot. Zain parked next to her.
"I'll get a cart," Zain said. He walked off to get one. Evelyn and Jinhai walked slowly to the building.
"I'm glad you guys are here, I can get three times the amount of stuff," she said. Jinhai gave a dry laugh.
"What are we? Maids?" He asked.
"Yes my two personal maids," she responded jokingly. He narrowed his eyes at her.
They went inside and she went to the fruit section. She loaded the cart with fresh fruits. Strawberries, blueberries, blackberries, oranges, grapes, dragonfruit, and avocado. She then added lemon and lime to her cart as well. She added ginger, scallion, vegetables, peeled garlic, and red chili peppers as well.
"Damn, I thought you were getting a snack," Zain said as he pushed the cart. Jinhai and Zain were following her like two children shopping with their mother.
"I was but I thought I'd take advantage of someone being able to help me carry the groceries," she said.
She went to the seasoning aisle next opting to save the cold stuff for last. She grabbed sugar, salt, black and white pepper, red pepper flakes, garlic powder, onion powder, soy sauce, oyster sauce, and an assortment of other sauces.
Then she went to get snacks. She loaded the cart with different packs of chips and cookies. She grabbed packs of drinks and put them in the bottom of the cart. Then she went to get eggs, milk, butter, and half and half.
She then went to the produce aisle and got chicken wings, flank steak, and pre prepped Korean spicy pork. She thought that this would be enough to last her for the week.
The boys looked relieved when she finally made her way to the register line.
"Oh I almost forgot!" She said and turned down another aisle. The guys bit back their groan and followed her. She went to the aisle where they sold daily necessities.
She grabbed a pack of tooth brushes, toothpaste, mouthwash, and floss.
"Okay now I'm ready." She said.
"Thank God," Zain muttered under his breath.
"You know maybe I need-" she didn't get to finish her sentence.
"Oh no, princess. The cart is brimming with stuff. You're done," Jinhai said placing his hands on her forearm and pinning them against her side as he guided her to check out.
Once all the items were scanned, Jinhai pulled out a credit card and ignored all of Evelyn's attempt to stop him.
They carried the groceries to Zain's car as it was larger. They drove back to her place and they helped her carry the bags upstairs.
"Alright Evelyn, I'm going to head home. Jinhai, are you coming?" Zain asked after they set the groceries down.
"I'm going to stay a while longer." Jinhai said. They said goodbye to Zain. Jinhai then went to the groceries and took things out of the bags to set on the counter. She put them into various cabinets as he began to wash her fruits before storing them in the fridge.
When everything was put away he turned to her.
"So," he said.
"It's late, you should head out too.' She said basically kicking him out. He didn't move.
"What?" She asked when he didn't move for several long moments.
"I'm not leaving," he said.
"What do you mean you're not leaving? We have work tomorrow, and its already 11 o'clock." Evelyn said glancing at the time.
"You said you get nightmares, and that they're getting worse. I can't leave you alone." He said calmly.
"I can't use you as my crutch." She said.
"I'm willing to be your crutch." He said.
"No." She said.
"Yes," he countered.
"Why are you so insistent!" She shouted.
"You promised, you'd let me be here for you." He said in a low voice. It was low and he knew it. It made him feel rotten to resort to tricks. But the idea of leaving her to fend for herself was inconceivable. Her eyes narrowed, not liking that he was using this against her now.
"You said, you would give me time." She countered.
"I am, I'm not exactly asking you to date me, well yet." He said ever so serious.
"Stop. You don't know what will happen." She said. He took a step closer to her.
"No, but I have to try. If I let you, you'll push me away indefinitely." He accused. She lowered her eyes knowing he was right.
"What do you want me to do?" She asked quietly.
"I'll sleep in the guest bedroom. If you have a nightmare, I'll be right there." He compromised. They stared at each other.
"Fine," she went into the bag, grabbed a toothbrush and toothpaste before she handed it to him.
"Thank you," he said. She walked passed him.
"Good night," she said as she walked passed him and to her bedroom. He sighed when her door closed. He leaned against the granite of the countertop.
"Good night, Princess," he said with a smile.
