Chapter 5 - The Abandoned Child 5

His parents had accidentally left him in the inn? They must be looking for him in the city? Bullshit! This was clearly desertion! At this point, Zhi Xuan realised the eight year old boy must be a total retard for not knowing what had happen. To be sure, Mu Zhi Xuan asked for Li Tian to stretch out his hand. He placed two fingers on the boy's wrist and used his spiritual energy to examine the boy's body.

To his expectations, Li Tian had been born with a trash spiritual root. Basically, even if he had absorbed spiritual energy for a hundred years, he would only be able to retain a year's worth of energy. Li Tian must've been abandoned for his trash cultivation, was what Zhi Xuan concluded. Not only that, the poor boy seemed to be lacking in the common sense aspect too.

"You know, I do not know how to break this to you the easy way, but.." Zhi Xuan hesitated for a moment before continuing his sentence, "Your parents have most definitely abandoned you."

"What? That is impossible!"

"Why is that impossible?"

"Well for one, they left their coin pouch behind. Why would anyone leave their money in a room and leave?" That comment left Zhi Xuan speechless.

"Have you ever thought that they left it for you to use and survive by yourself?"

"…"

"Why did they abandon me though? Big sis Rou Xuan told me to be careful about it too," Li Tian hugged his knees as he grovelled on the ground dejectedly. Then, what Rou Xuan said hit him like a truck. "Ahh! I broke my promise her!"

Li Tian was clearly more sad that he had broken Rou Xuan's promise. Mu Zhi Xuan sat there watching the boy's change in emotions. Was this kid bipolar too? Zhi Xuan came to the conclusion that he should at least explain why this had all happen.

"The reason why your parents had abandoned you was because of your spiritual root. You were seen as useless to your family. Thus, they left you to rot by yourself."

"There have been many cases like this in my continent too. In a world where only the strong wins and stands at the tops, people with a trash cultivation can only be a stepping stone for others."

As Mu Zhi Xuan spoke the truth to the boy, he watched Li Tian's emotions. He was scared that he was going to be depressed from it. Yet, what came next truly floored the Martial God.

"I have a trash cultivation?"

Did you only realise it now?! Mu Zhi Xuan more or less could tell why the Wang family had done what they did. A person who was doing nothing but explaining his situation to Li Tian, already feel like spitting out blood, much less a person that taught Li Tian how to study. Now, Mu Zhi Xuan respected this classmate of Li Tian's even more.

"Well, as I had stated earlier, I am from another continent. I had been injured and was forcefully teleported here. Do you understand this part?" Li Tian shook his head as expected, but what Mu Zhi Xuan didn't know was that not many people in the Divided Continent knew about their neighbouring land. Only those studying in the Cultivation schools or part of Martial sects will know about this. And the level of knowledge would only be about the surface level.

"Anyways, I will have to recover from injury before I leave this place. Do you have anything you would like to request from me? You can request for anything and I will try my best to help you out." Zhi Xuan stood up as he looked at the pitiful boy that had saved him. He was preparing to leave the alleyway, parting ways with the boy for good.

"I can request anything?" Li Tian asked.

"Anything."

The boy thought for a short moment before giving his request seriously. He looked at Zhi Xuan determinedly and spoke: "Can you teach me how to be stronger?"

"…"

Shit. That was not the request that I wanted to hear. The instant Li Tian said his request, the Martial god had cold sweat running down his back. Typically, he would only feel this way when he was facing a major threat, like his fight against the Five Pillars. In this case, he fear what would happen to his mind when he had to teach Li Tian martial arts.

"I.." Zhi Xuan hesitated.

"If it is too hard, it is fine too." Li Tian was used to rejections. Since he was young, no matter who he asked to play with him, he would always get rejected by them. Seeing how unfazed Li Tian was, it made Zhi Xuan feel really bad.

It was then the Martial God decided to do something that he never thought he would in his entire 1000 years of existence.

"No. I will accept your request." Zhi Xuan shook his head as he stood straighter. "Now, call me, master."

"Master!" Li Tian kneeled on both knees as he looked up to his newly found master.

"Good good!"

On that day, the pair of master and disciple had made a sacred pact in a dim and dingy alleyway. Their lives and fate would forever be bound together. Who knows how far Li Tian would go on the path of cultivation?
