Chapter 1 - Chapter 1

It's cold. Slowly I rise and look at the veiled figures before me. The sword in my hand is heavy, but I'm used to it. The first figure rises from its seat and begins to speak, but I do not hear a word, but its lips move. I grasp the handle of my sword tighter and wait. But what am I waiting for? And where am I? Who are these creatures?

I know them, I know it. Suddenly the shapes attack me and everything around me turns white. Little by little the white light disappears again and I am standing in the same room as before, but there is blood everywhere. Which is everywhere on the walls. Where are the figures?

Slowly I lower my eyes towards the floor and look down at the figures that are now lying on the floor in front of me. Blood runs out of their bodies and collects in a lake. A lake of blood and I stand in the middle of the lake of blood. As I still stare at the figures I feel something running down my cheek. I cry, but I feel nothing. Neither sorrow nor pain. It is as if I had no feelings.

A scream brings me back to the present and draws my attention away from the figures to a child. Slowly I move towards the child. Filled with fear he looks at me through his big eyes and the closer I come the more his little body trembles. Now I stand before him and raise my sword to the stroke of death. Tears run down his cheeks and he just looks at me.

"Why?" That was the last thing he said before my sword struck him. Why did I do that?    I watched his body sink into itself. Slowly, I raise my hand in front of my eyes. It was covered in blood. It was full of blood. Why? But suddenly everything went black and I felt like I was falling.

Images pass by, memories and moments that I had experienced. I stretch out my hand and the image dissolves in front of my hand. Unknown images appeared before my eyes. A clearing with a lake where the moon is reflected.

A voice whispers my name. It is as if it is calling me. This place I do not know, but I feel more secure than I have felt in a long time. It's a beautiful feeling.

But suddenly everything becomes blurred before my eyes and cries of pain fill my head. They become louder and louder and form a babble of voices. It should stop! I want it to stop! I want the screams in my head to stop. The screams get louder and louder and their screams become more painful.

I can't stand it anymore and I press my hands desperately against my ears hoping that the screams will stop. But they do not. Just before I can use my sword, which is still in my hand, I open my eyes and sit in my room breathing heavily. My heart is pounding against my chest, so that I have the feeling that it will jump out. Slowly I begin to calm down and drive my way through my long black hair. The screams are muted just like the voice before.

It was only a dream. I repeated this sentence like a mantra, over and over again. Maybe I really wanted to tell myself that it was only a dream come true, but it felt so real. I let go of my hair and looked at my hand.

It was clean, but I still had the image of my bloody hand in my head. I held my hand to my fist and shook my head.
