Chapter 3 - Roku - General Number 6

Smiles fade. The party ends. I walk into my room, dig a knife out from my target board, and lock the door. Blinds down. Sound cancelling curtains closed. All I have to do is keep my room clean and my Mom will never enter... but I keep precautions just in case. I throw the knife without even aiming. The blade sinks into the red center of the board. I walk over to my desk. Inputting pass code to open secret drawer compartment. 6. No one ever suspects a pass code to only contain one number.

Wait. Why is my untraceable already sitting on my desk? How? Yeah I left my room unlocked, but there's no way I left my untraceable lap top sitting out like this! And where's my other laptop? I peek at the drawer, and slowly slide it open, and what do yah know.

"Shit!" I scream silently to myself. How-how could I make such a huge mistake like this! I got too caught up in the new plan last night. If someone saw what was on this laptop... no... no- impossible. Only the generals know the pass code. Still, the untraceable laptop creates suspicions. Then again, no one suspects the class clown... I should be safe... should be.

*Rumble*

The closet! Something just fell in the closet?! I step back slowly and reach behind my bed.

"Who's there?" I ask, drawing a throwing knife from underneath the mattress. "Come out, I won't hurt you." I claim softly. Yeah, come out so I can slice your throat.

"Of course, you would never hurt me, Zero... but... I'm kinda... well- I'm stuck!" A girl's voice echoes from my closet door.

"Wait! Did you just call me Zero?! How do you know that name!" I yell, opening the closet door abruptly. Just like that, all of the clothes, useless objects, and scraps I'd thrown into my closet when, "cleaning" came gushing out. But the biggest mess of all, was the girl laying on the floor. Wait, this girl is friend number 28!

"Oh, it's you. Hey, sorry for bumping into earlier. And thank you," I tell her, reaching out my hand. She blushes, and reluctantly takes it. I yank her up.

"No, I'm sorry for freaking out like that... I had no idea you were Zero... and thank me for what?" She asks, her gaze completely different from before. She looks like a child staring at her favorite candy... except she's no damn child- seriously what does this girl eat? She has bigger tits than my dad... And what the hell is she wearing? A tank top? It's Autumn? Whatever... stop analyzing. I push the tip of the blade against her stomach.

"You see what was on that lap top?" I ask her, even though I already know the answer.

"Yep." She replies. Why the hell is she grinning like that? It's creeping me out...

"Tell me how you bypassed the key code?" I demand, gently pressing the knife deeper into her abdomen.

"Watashi wa Roku- General Number Six," She says, taking the knife and pressing it even deeper. My eyes bulge out from their sockets. I slowly unwrap her bloodied fingers off the blade. In a swift fit of fury I hurl the knife. It sticks only a centimeter from the other blade. The thud sound softly, but violently, vibrates the entire room.

"Roku... I- I'm so sorry," I tell her, dropping my head. My generals are the only people that know of my plans to destroy the world. I've spoken to Roku the most... the poor girl...

"It's okay... I finally get to tell you... I wanted to wait until I met you in person... I love you!" She exclaims, breathing heavily.

"Wha- we just met today. That's impossible." I explain to her. The light drains from her eyes.

"No. I mean it. I love you, Zero." Roku says, stepping closer.

"Uhuh... then what's my name?" I ask her, retreating half a step.

"Zero." She replies with a grin.

"No. My legal name."

"Ummm... Ad- Ry- Andy?" She says, with a bingo face.

"It's Adrian." I tell her, plopping into my computer chair. Opening up my laptop I'm met with a wall of messages, half of them asking, 'Where's Zero?' I begin typing on the main message board, titled, "Licentia."

"Apologies, my loyal followers. Today, I had special business to attend to. First, I would like to congratulate our cause, we have reached 100,000 members from across the world. I'm truly thankful that my philosophy has touched so many of you. Now, for the question of the day- If the World doesn't care about you, then why should you care about it? If the World doesn't love you, then why must you love it? If the World hates you, then don't you have every right to return it's wrath? Why must we, the warriors of this new world, bite the bullet and fight against ourselves- our true selves. I created this page to gather individuals with a firm belief in freedom, true freedom, unbound freedom. I created this page in spite of God, in spite of the natural order, in spite of the oppressors. I developed a space where they cannot watch us, a space where they cannot tempt us, a space where they cannot corrupt us! Was I wrong to do so?"

I don't know why I wrote that last question... Of course I'm not wrong... Right?

"No way! The King of Anarchy is always right!" User Anonymous 0024519 replies. With every blink fifty more replies appear. All of them discussing, most of them agreeing, but one of them...

"'Was I wrong to,' Sounds like your King is having doubts," Anonymous user 10101010 replies. Am I... am I having my doubts? Now? When I may have the perfect plan?

"Hey, do I- do I have to go home?" Roku asks, teetering between discomfort and confusion.

"Absolutely not. You really think I'd send you back to that house. You're staying here tonight." I explain to her, staring at the replies on screen. Majority positive, but this 10101010 guy bothers me. Nothing to do, well, actually I could block him from posting. His messages are overly personal... nah, that defeats the purpose of Licentia.

"But, what about your Mom?" Roku asks me.

"Roku, what's your name?" I reply, swiveling in my computer chair to face her.

"Watashi wa-"

"No, no- your legal name. And you don't have to repeat the secret introduction to me, I already know it's you." I explain to her. Was Roku always such an air head? Oh well, that'd make her the smartest airhead on this planet.

"Oh. It's Eva." She replies, her gaze drooping.

"MOM!" I yell, "MY FRIEND EVA IS SPENDING THE NIGHT!"

"OKAY!" My Mom replies. Sounds like she's in the kitchen...

"GET HER SOME LEFTOVERS!" I demand, before swiveling back to the computer screen. Roku starts fidgeting.

"Wai- ummm, is that really okay?" She asks, her eyes darting.

"Yeah." I explain to her. My Mom doesn't work. My older sister is away at college. So, how do we live in this great big house in this upper class neighborhood? It's called being a genius. I bring in the dough so what I say goes.

Roku doesn't seem satisfied by the answer, she won't stop fidgeting.

"Eva, you good?" I ask her.

"Please..." she replies, shaking furiously.

"Whatsup?"

"Please, call me Roku. I-I don't want the name my Mom gave me."

"Hmm okay, but when we're in front of other people I have to call you Eva and you have to call me Adrian. Call me Zero in front of that class of jackasses and I'll body slam you," I explain to her.

"Of course!" She says, smiling. Who the hell smiles after being threatened? Huh, why the hell am I smiling? My chest... it hasn't felt this light in a long time.

"Zero..." Roku whispers.

"Huh?"

"Do you love?"

"No." I reply coldly. My gaze solely on the screen. Her body heat edges close to mine.

"Then why?" She asks, wrapping her arms around me.

"Because, Zero never breaks his promises."
