Chapter 2 - Enter: Family

Flipping the pages, I kept to myself. Reading to alleviate my boredom. Three days have passed since my total recollection.

I have already recovered from my concussion but my family still disallow me to go outside.

They say I was too weak. But I don't buy that. I do realise that they're just looking out for me so I decided to play it cool for a while and start plotting against my enemies.

If I want to turn the tables against them I needed to gain power, strong allies and political influence.

My family, the Eonas duchy is a long-standing household with a rich history. We were once an unstoppable force that branched off from royalty.

But the split happened after one of the previous King decided that my great ancestor his brother was too powerful.

He tried to assassinate him out of paranoia that his brother would try to usurp him. And he did but not himself but his nephew.

From then on our family was literally the closest to the imperial family in both blood and relationship.

The reason why I was expected to be crown princess rather than any other noble was because I was a genius.

Or that was what they thought. All I did was rely on the knowledge I had from my previous life.

Simple mathematics and high school level arithmetics are no threat to me. But that was it.

My mathematics skills were very limited and were no doubt something that was too easy for children in the modern world.

It was only later that I realised that the bars set for children are way lower than I expected.

It was truly frustrating to just gradually make myself average even though I had no idea why.

Three knocks on the door snapped me out of my stupor and I responded with a simple, "Come in."

The doors became wide ajar as my rowdy brother came right in. Followed by our elder brother.

"Clyde. What are you doing slamming the door like that? You are a noble please be mindful of that." I pouted already expecting this kind of behaviour from him.

"Wow, we were just gone for three days and now you've just went on and got even chubbier." I was shocked.

To think that my soon to be lady killer brother was so insensitive towards his own sister. I have no idea what goes inside the girls head of this world.

In modern days women would find that offensive. Well only the overdramatic feminists would find it offensive.

Most of my friends wouldn't care about that kind of stuff. But it was still rude. My older sighed. "Clyde you can't just call a girl chubby like that. It's rude."

I nodded my head in agreement and responded. "That's right. Some women would find that offensive. We take offences very seriously you know that?"

Clyde ruffled his short blonde hair and gave me a look of confusion. "Really?"

I nodded vehemently. "Then is that why they crowd me all the time and pester me with questions? Because they find me offensive?"

I paused for a few seconds feeling my heart bleed. Shaking my head with a blank face. "No that's for a different reason." In a monotone voice saying it slowly in an attempt to have him understand.

"And that is?" At this point I just keep reminding myself that he was a child. There was no need to be jealous about the fact that he had so many opportunities to date and that this was when he was just twelve.

Once he grew up he would surely become even more handsome. He would have women come flocking towards him like chickens.

As for my older brother Krey. I didn't even want to talk about it. He has such a huge fan base that if this was in the modern world he could be said to be a perfect example of husband material.

If not for one quirk of his. He was obsessed with the idea of supernatural abilities. The reason why he followed the Saintess and heroes in the first place was because they were the only ones at that time to have powers.

"Krey. Can you help Clyde understand. I can't deal with this right now." They say that the eyes were the windows to souls.

If that were really true then my soul would be floating out of my eyes rather than my mouth like how animations show it.

I was washed out. Mind blank completely over the reality that I might not get a boyfriend in this new world.

With all these plans I have to accomplish there was a chance that in my seven year grace I would be unable to stop and look for a suitable lover for myself.

Even though I was eight. "Right. Oh by the way father and mother wants to talk to you about your engagement."

I smiled at him and picked up my cup of tea. Then furiously spitting it out in shock as I recalled his words.

"M-my engagement! What do you mean by that? To whom I may ask?!" Mischievous as they were the two brothers looked away from me and rested their two hands behind their head.

Whistling and simultaneously saying. "Not saying it~ you have to find out for yourself!~"

In a derisive and mocking tone. Oh how I missed the times when they were like this, but now that I remember correctly they were absolutely evil.

I cursed them in my mind feeling frustrated over the fact that they acted like this towards me.

"I shall remember this and return my woes unto you. Mark my words you shall suffer my wrath." I harshly replied through gritted teeth.

I walked down the hallway and into the room where my mother and father resided. They both sat down to drink some tea with each other awaiting my arrival.

"Mother, Father I have come to negotiate about my engagement." I stood firm between them determined to win this.

Nothing could stop me from trying. But it all still lies with my parents. I had some opinions on this but had very little power on what the ultimate decision was.

Now the only thing left was, was to discover who I was marrying.
