The Sheng had arranged for their new hotel to be where the party was held. The plan was to combine the hotel's ribbon cutting with the announcement of the Sheng daughter's engagement. The Sheng's preferred to live a quiet, and unproblematic lifestyle. With this principle they tended to avoid attending large banquets. Master Sheng had been slightly worried about the ribbon cutting ceremony, because he knew that if they didn't appear at their own building's opening, then they would lose face. On the other hand there was no way they would miss their lovely daughter's engagement party. With that thought in mind, the couple at the head of the household decided to combine the events. By doing so they wouldn't need to keep worrying about the business acquaintances that had all been asking for their son to be engaged with Yiyi. After all the details had been sorted, the day had quickly approached, and with it Yiyi's father was feeling extremely depressed. He knew that she needed to get engaged, and to a boy with a polite demeanor at that, but he still wanted to shelter his cute daughter. The man had gotten dressed, of course he had to be, his soon to be in-laws were meant to arrive at any minutes. Just like that... The man put on a polite smile as the attendant had told him through the door that the Chao family arrived.
Outside of the house, the well dressed mother and daughter were standing by the gate to the property, as a black car pulled up. The back window was rolled down, as the older man in the car asked where to park. They had been to the Sheng estate less than a week ago, but this time the attendant that usually drove Xian to school wasn't with them. The madam quickly delegated an employee to show them the way to the garage. They were technically already future in-laws, with just the contract, but the official party wasn't until later, so both parties still treated the other with the amount of respect of a trusted boss. Once the car was parked, the Chao men headed back towards the ladies of the Sheng family, to find that the Madam's husband, and son had joined them to greet their new family. The head of the Sheng's had started the conversation with the Chao head, with the intent to bond over their children's engagement, was responded to with an equally warm reaction from the Master of the Chao family. Xian had been quietly observing the interaction to find it a bit annoying that the Sheng head was forcing a smile, while Yiyi had found it to be overwhelmingly sweet that her father had been trying to maintain good relations for her sake. Xian glanced toward Yiyi to see her trying to maintain an elegant posture, despite her eyes which couldn't hold back her smile. However, Liang noticed Xian's eyes, and gave him a glare. The brother who knew the mind of a teenage boy, better than the rest of his naive family, saw the boy's repeated glances toward his cute sister, and took a defensive position. Xian was developing a dislike towards the men of the family. The father's of each family had finished their greeting, so the Madam had followed up by confirming everyone was ready. While checking she had waved towards the nearby attendant, and told them to prepare two cars. She had decided to let the 'adults' ride in one car, and the engaged couple to ride in the other. As she was bringing up this idea, Liang had taken his sister, and dragged her towards one of the cars. Xian unconsciously followed behind them, slightly irritated by the older brother's actions. The madam's plans had been rearranged by her son... She quickly recovered, and urged the two older men towards the other car.
