Chapter 8 - 08

We sat down in chairs made of stone that we found in a courtyard that barely anyone visited and looked at the flowers.

I found a butterfly that existed even in the other world flying around the flowers, and an indescribable feeling welled up.

Commander Saran seems to be talking about a legend.

Perhaps it was something similar to Earth's Greek mythology.

Let's hope that it won't be too lively.

Greek mythologies had too many complicated messes due to being struck mad by love and reading them made me give up hope.

「For now, why don't we talk about this world's god?」

In this world, Morigan, there was one god.

The name was "Creation God Aitel'.

It seems that he was in charge of the centralized management of statuses and the blessings of the people.

Come to think of it, there were many gods in Japan.

Something like one person, working for the entire population seemed terrible.

Not knowing that I was thinking something like that, Commander Saran continued the story.

Aitel first created the sky, and then the earth.

And then, he created the downgraded version of himself, humans.

He created the humans, elves, demons, and beastmen, and they were given emotions, it seems.

He let them inhabit the earth, assigned them occupations, and bestowed their statuses.

Having had enough of the gods' disputes, Aitel observed his creations, trying to calm his own emotions.

As expected, even gods had disputes.

What were the other gods doing?

Aitel was doing all the work by himself, you know.

Help him!

However, for humans to be the downgraded version of god, you should stop trying to search for comfort in humans….

However, they fought over land, goods, women, and men.

And so, each tribe started living separately.

Angry, Aitel created the monsters, and split the continent in four.

The demons who were able to control the monsters were driven away to the volcanic continent, 'Volcano'

The elves who were loved by nature went to the continent 'Forest' where the sacred tree resided.

The humans and beastmen who remained fought until the end, and the victorious humans settled in the abundant and enormous continent 'Continent'.

The beastmen settled down in the continent of beasts, 'Brute'.

Didn't they just use the English name of the continents' respective characteristics?

Or rather, 'Morigan', I seem to have heard it somewhere before….

TN: Many thanks to Yuin for pointing this out to me. So apparently, Morigan is a figure that originates from Irish mythology and her name translates to 'phantom queen'. She is also associated with war and fate.

Maa, Morigan was created like this.

「Humans are petty.」

「…maa, you can also look at it that way? Normally, people don't see it that way though.」

I had thought this before, but that was fast.

Let's just go to the library.

I thought that and stood up.

「Oya, where are you going? You haven't told me anything.」

He quickly grabbed onto my arm.

Perhaps there was strength in that otherwise slender arm, but even if he pulls on me, I'm not going to yield.

Commander Saran's eyes turned gloomy.
