Chapter 6 - Little Village

Ling Tian weekly stood up and leaned on a nearby tree for support, his body was perfectly healed and not even scars remained, however, due to not eating and continuously exhausting his Qi to heal, he felt very weak.

He clutched his stomach with his left hand as phantom pains of the incident before still existed. His eyes were cold as he took step after step into the forest; The trees were dozens of meters tall and all trees had trunks thick enough for 20 people to hug it and join hands around it; The leaves were a dark shade of green and occasional purple and yellow could be seen in them. The sky was covered in black clouds as usual and thus the forest was dark and sinister.

He walked for hours, hunger and thirst being the least of his problems as constant howls and growls of beasts echoed in the forest; He kept cautious at all times; eyes searching for any threat he could find; His footsteps slow and his right hand always leaning on a tree trunk. His rags were gone and replaced them the clothes of Xia Ju who he had killed, however, it was drenched in blood but so were his rags so he decided to use this.

His long black hair was unkempt and loose, blood and dirt staining it giving him a wild and ferocious look. His eyes were a piercing cold that twinkled due to the darkness and bare amount of light reflected in them. His skin still covered in dirt and blood, it was hard to see how he looked like.

He walked and walked, always keeping his distance from the sound of beasts, he was weak and he knew he couldn't fight, however, he also knew the smell of blood on him would attract beasts so he hurried up as much as he could. He also knew that Xia Ju's death would put him on the wanted list of the so-called Xia clan, so he had to get away from that damned city.

He reached a cliff and saw no other way forward, he sighed and looked down and frowned; He couldn't climb down, the height was too much. As he pondered on what to do, he heard the growling of wolves behind him, he turned around and saw dozens of wolfs; They had purple furs and were the size of tigers, their fangs visible showing their extreme ferocity.

He was weak and he knew he would die if he fought them, these were no ordinary wolves, they were purple nightmare wolves, A literal nightmare for any who crossed them as they would die whether they were mortals or Peak Houtian cultivators(Peak of body refining); Only Xiantian cultivators could deal with them and survive.

He backed up slowly and clenched his fists, his cold eyes became filled with rage.

"Xia clan... I will exterminate you this I swear!" he murmured in anger.

He had experienced great pain in the hands of one Xia clan member and the young master had ridiculed him with the group on that street and died accidentally due to his hand which set off this situation. If they hadn't mocked him, the guard wouldn't have attacked him to flatter them, and thus he wouldn't be hunted like now. He saw the Xia clan responsible and since they were going to come after him, he decided to exterminate them for sure.

He knew he was responsible since it was his naivety that caused him to go to those parts of the city but he also knew that he needed to explore the situation.

The wolves jumped on him and he jumped back, down the cliff he began falling; the depth of the cliff was dark and his eyes, despite being enhanced, couldn't make out what there was. He fell for a few seconds and suddenly hit something. his side began burned fiercely and he felt his Qi in his blood being consumed madly to heal him. He wanted to scream but he realized he couldn't and saw that he was deep in water.

He swam up and greedily took a breath and screamed in pain. He noticed he was in a roaring river at the bottom of the cliff, on both his sides a high and unclimbable cliff visible. The water moved extremely fast and he was dragged along with the current; He hit boulders and such along the way getting injured again and again. His blood Qi dropped to very low levels, struggling to heal him; the many cuts and such he received along the way due to the tree branches that were above the river made him lose a lot of blood.

If he was in good condition, he could have easily endured these and gotten out of the situation and climbed the cliff but the situation was not good as he was extremely weak before and now he became weaker due to blood loss, he had already become weaker than a mortal.

His vision slowly turned dark, 'Is this how it ends? How pathetic!' and he lost consciousness.

His body moving with the river's current to places unknown; The water washed away all the blood and dirt on him. A few hours past and the river calmed down, His body moved through many different sceneries.

Situated near a green and lively forest, that had an aura of peace and life, was a village. The village looked like an ancient Chinese village, A great river went through the village and split into two parts, one going to the unknown and the other reaching a Massive Lake. The azure sky had no clouds and one could see the sun that shone brightly on the world.

Children ran amok in the village, chasing butterflies and playing, smiles of happiness on their faces.

The Villagers went about their daily lives, most were fishermen who sat on their small boats and picked up a bucket and a fishing rod to go and get food for their families. Friendly shouts and laughter could be heard as the Fishermen put on a competition to see who was the best, as usual.

The women admired the men and tended to the houses, their efforts filled with love as they watched their families and their children.

Some Villagers stayed behind with weapons and some went into the forest to hunt for food. The village might have been small, but the people were happy.

An old man sat on his little stool admiring his little village, he had grown up in this village and loved it dearly. He was the village chief and his village was named 'Fisher Lake Village' a simple name to show the village's uniqueness.

This day was unlike any other, he leaned on the wall and took a deep breath, his wrinkly face showed a happy smile as a few children ran past him. As he tried to open his mouth to say something he stopped. At the edge of his vision, he could see a body moving with the river.

He stood up and shouted to some men who were still nearby, "Hey, A body is on the river; It might be someone who needs help! Someone go and fetch him!"

The nearby men saw the body and immediately jumped on their boats and headed towards him, they got him and brought him ashore.

The village chief saw the body was riddled with cuts and had several dozen broken bones, however, he was still breathing; he grimaced and barked orders, "He needs the help of a physician. Go call old Wang here and tell him of the situation."

The men obeyed and left hurriedly; he tried to help the young man by pressing his hands on the cuts to stop his bleeding.

'Live, you are too young to die like this!' he thought as he tried his best.

Ling Tian felt sore all over his body, he couldn't even move a little bit. No matter what he did, he couldn't open his eyes as if his eyelids were as heavy as mountains. He could feel distance murmurs but he was not conscious enough to make out what was being said. He tried feeling his Qi but he failed as his blood carried too little amount of it for it to be felt. 'Am I dead?! No, I have a body...' He thought...

An unknown amount of time passed.

His Qi increased and he felt his body's situation get better and better, the soreness gradually vanished and he felt he could finally open his eyes. He woke up and saw a wooden ceiling; he tried to move but his body was still weak so he failed. However, he noticed that he was lying on a simple rough bed inside a simple room, 'it looks like a room from a village in ancient times! Oh well, I am in ancient times...' he thought as he looked at his body and realized no limb was missing.

His eyes grew cold, 'Just wait, Xia clan, I will return and kill you all!' he thought with anger and turned his focus toward the system.

He opened the system screen and saw his cultivation was the same and his EP was stuck at 1900 since he had cultivated a bit to gather 900 before entering the forest and he got 1000EP for killing Xia Ju. He couldn't move so he decided to use his time to gather EP.

He closed his eyes and entered his cultivation state.

More time passed and the Qi in his blood increased exponentially, strength returned to his fatigued muscles and he felt like he could move again. He saw he had farmed 3000 EP so he exited his state and slowly got up. Just as he wanted to stand up the voice of a young girl interrupted him, "Hey, you shouldn't move!"

The Girl was very cute and seemed to be younger than 17 but older than 14, she looked quite adorable when angry. She wore a simple white villager outfit and her long black hair was in a ponytail.

The girl came and gently pushed him down to the bed, she lectured him with anger, "How can you move with those injuries? You must rest and gather your strength; Grandpa said you won't be able to walk normally ever again if you are not careful and recover fully. He left you in my care so either Rest or else..."

Ling Tian didn't whether to laugh or cry, he opened his mouth to say something and noticed he was extremely thirsty and his stomach growled in anger showing its hunger and dissatisfaction.

The girl blushed, "Ah, I see, You were hungry... Sorry, I will bring something right away!" She left hurriedly, meanwhile, Ling Tian looked at his stomach and gave a thumbs up.

'I didn't even need to talk, my stomach did the talking for me! How convenient...'

He saw that he needed 100 EP to increase his cultivation so he decided to farm it and breakthrough right away. Of course, after eating something, he noticed he hadn't touched food and water since coming to this world; If not for the system, he would have died already.

'I am hungry enough to eat an entire cow, wait a moment, can I actually eat one?' He wondered.
