Chapter 80 - (IN) Chapter 02 - Aura Training

(Year 09-435 is read as Nine-Four-Thirty-Five)

On the evening of the 6th of Craving, Year 09-435:

A group of old Knights are merrily dancing around a bonfire, while some were reading a piece of paper, trying to memorize something that seemed to be very important...

"O great divines! I would've never believed this came from Duke if I didn't see it with my own eyes!" Byran gasped, reading the piece of parchment Duke wrote up.

"Indeed! How'd ya make this, lad?!" Bardis, the old Knight, asked Duke whilst shaking him repeatedly.

"Ho-Ha-HA! What in the name of Spaghetti?! I still can't believe my eyes!" Galleo splurted out, temporarily falling back to his old thick accent as he read a portion of the paper.

As Galleo and the other Knights urged Duke to explain how he came up with the revised training manual, Duke was forced to explain, telling them:

"Ah well, you know that Al-Gabr or was it Alzebra, hmm. Ah you know, those x-y numbers thing you and Vivian kept teaching me, about..." Duke demonstrated.

" It's Algebra, Duke... Algebra!" Galleo sighed, shaking his head. Thinking: [I guess if you hammer it enough in his brain, some knowledge actually sticks, huh?]

"Algebra?! How's that shit gonna tell ya how many breaths or stances to make?! I mean, its numbers for the Gods' sake! Numbers! Not Aura! NUMBERS!" Dan lost his mind from the shock, complaining about Galleo's weird science in front of Bran, whilst Bran was sitting on the side, quietly listening as he practiced the Aura Manual he was given... sadly the wild spit raining from the deranged Dan was quite disrupting...

"Ah, yes! That Algebra! Using my past training experiences in Aura. I changed how many full-breaths and half-breaths we take... Bla Bla Bla" Duke slowly explained.

At first, the old Knight didn't get what Duke was talking about, but over time they slowly got it.

Galleo and Bran on the other hand were busy jotting down notes! As expected of intellectually capable men!

"I see! I see! HAHAHA, the Pendragons will RISE AGAIN! HAHAHA..." Byran excitedly shouted out, as the other Knights joined in.

After Byran finally calmed down, he continued: "So Duke, you minimized strength to give way for speed! Fascinating! And even using Galleo's Alge-... Math-thingy! To get the exact amount of half-breaths! Amazing! Maybe with this formula, us old Knights can finally step into the Strengthening, now that the overbearing Aura's been dealt with!"

Aura. A form of energy much like that of Mana that Magicians use, which permeates through a strong body flowing from and to the heart and muscles.

Its properties could be likened to that of the hot steam leaving the body during extreme exercise.

Aura could be considered the ultimate form of physical prowess. To train Aura is to forge the body, upgrading and strengthening it to the extremes.

And the first three levels of Aura Training are:

Aura Regeneration > Aura Strengthening > Aura Expulsion.

Duke and the Old Knights were at the level of Aura Regeneration, where although they can't control the flow of Aura in their bodies, they can still accelerate it's flow, healing the muscles and any body part the Aura flows through.

When Aura flows through a person's body parts or organs, it can slightly heal it by speeding up metabolism, resting it, and removing fatigue in the process.

This is why Duke can heal so fast even after getting beat up by the Knights on a daily basis! That and his terrifyingly non-human bloodline...

When a person levels up to Aura Strengthening, however, he/she is at a stage where they must learn to control Aura that's within the body, learning to target specific muscles or parts, reinforcing and/or quickening the body.

Sadly, this is also the very reason why the old Pendragon Knights can't go further in their Aura Training, as the Aura Produced by the Pendragon Aura Manual is too fierce, like a raging Tyrannical Dragon inside one's body, as if it was made specifically for the Pendragon Family and their special genetic makeup.

And if Byran or any of the old Knights force their Aura into a specific body part...

KABOOM! It might explode...

"Hmm? Wait, even if the new manual doesn't explode the muscles as the old one did, wouldn't it still wear it down thanks to the extreme speeds it provides?! What use are my muscles if they tear down?!" Bran, the ever astute young lad noticed.

"Gahaha! I guess you're still too green in Aura, eh Bran? What will Vivian say~ I wonder? Gahaha! Galleo! Explain to this ignorant fool~!" Duke tried to tease the ever-dense Bran, currently puzzled about Duke's weirdly annoying and smug face.

[Ah, whatever... as long as milord's happy, I guess?] Bran sighed to himself, ignoring Duke's sad effort to challenge the competition...

"Ah yes, what?! Oh sorry, I was too busy comparing the two Manuals... Huh... amazing Duke! I never thought Science could apply to an activity as muscle-brained as Aura Training!... This discovery might have a lot of uses in the future! Gahahaha... Oh, what!? Ah, explain why this new manual works while the old one doesn't, huh? Well, allow me..."

Galleo began explaining: "You see, if Aura too strong suddenly enters a specific body part, the strain and pressure might make it explode! Go KABOOM! No more arm for you~ Sir Knight! Oh? You liked that left leg, you say? TOO BAD. Pendragon Aura go Kaboom! Hahaha, BUT... But if the turbulent Aura goes inside the body part in lesser amounts, but in larger frequencies, such as written here by Duke, that body part might just be given enough time to heal itself before the next batch of Aura quickly come in! As you know, because Aura can heal the body...

In truth, Duke might've just made the most efficient muscle training exercise there is! As the muscles are constantly destroyed and remade! Quickly strengthening the muscles!

Heck, if you train this New Pendragon Manual, your muscles might just be strengthened enough to withstand the old Manual's turbulent Aura! Meaning with a few tweaks here and there, Duke just made a Manual you train to finish training another Manual!" Galleo finished, pointing both hands at Duke's direction as if praising him on a pedestal.

While Duke on the other hand had his nose high up in the air, staring down at Bran as if telling him: [Hahaha! Hear that, Bran?!]

Sadly, Bran was too busy jotting down notes to even notice Duke...

Even worse was Bran's enthusiasm whilst clapping at Duke, saying: "As expected of Milord! Nothing short of excellence, Milord!"

"As expected of the Main Character (MC)... Dense and optimistic! Grrr... If he suddenly forms a Harem because of his denseness, I'll kill ya! I mean you already have Vivian! What else do ya need in life?!..." Duke grumbled in an almost inaudible voice. Comparing Bran to that of the dense heroes he read in Novels...

Sadly Duke's grumbles didn't reach the optimistic to a fault Bran, leaving Duke defeated, thinking to himself: [Ughh... How can you even stay angry at this bundle of sunshine?!... Ah whatever...]

Duke sighed, staring at Bran, his jealousy slowly fading...
