I ignore Binx and continue pushing everything to the middle of the room. I begin setting up the candles as Binx starts pacing back and forth with anger. "Eris! I'm not kidding! It's not possible and attempting to do something like this could have serious repercussions."
I snort and mumble off a list of things I'm making up as I go but I couldn't care less. I want my mother back and I don't care how many rules I have to break in order for it to happen. Repercussions? I'll bare them all. You say it's not possible? I'll make it possible.
"Eris! You don't even know what you're doing. You're drunk! Please think about this!" Binx says jumping in front of me, making me pause. I sway back and forth and say "Stand down, Binx." He bares his teeth at me in anger but because he's my familiar, he has to obey.
After drunkenly drawing a circle and a few symbols, I stand in the very middle, swaying back and forth as I lift up a small blade. I use my magic to light the candles and say "Time be quick, time be slow, hear my cries and lift. Bend to me and my will, for I only need a moment... a moment in past's time." I cut my palm and let the blood drip onto the ground inside the circle.
A small breeze begins to grow until the whole room feels like it's going to be blown away but the candles stay lit the entire time. Bright lights begin to appear around the room as if someone is suddenly ripping a piece of paper and sunlight is shining through the cracks. Time itself is being torn...
I stay swaying back and forth as I whisper "Just a moment..." as I slowly close my eyes. A single tear runs down my face as everything turns bright white. I feel like I'm being pulled apart before everything turns dark and I pass out.
Birds chirping has me stirring but when I try to turn over, I get a face of... grass? I slowly sit up and groan when I feel a splitting headache. "I drank entirely too much..." I mumble as I struggle to open my eyes. Why is it so bright?
And why grass? Did I pass out in my front yard again? "Whoooah!" I hear followed by a few thumps from something large. I quickly get up and brush myself off as I strain to look at someone on the back of a... horse!? The hell??
"Who goes there? How did you get in here?" A man asks with a hard edge to his voice. I finally manage to see something other than light and nearly fall over. I blink several times at several... Elves?? All riding large, majestic white horses with long white braided hair.
Did someone spike my drink? "Speak woman! Who are you and how did you get in here." The male elf in the front demands. I open my mouth and point to myself but words fail me. What the hell is happening!? Elves!?! Aren't they all dead??
The male elf pulls out a long sword and points it at me, causing the other two behind him to do the same. I nervously put both my hands up and say "Wait wait wait... this is all some kind of huge misunderstanding. I... I think I'm still drunk..."
The Elves frown at me before charging at me. I turn around and run for my life but when I hear the horses gaining on me, I use my magic to increase my speed. I run straight to a weird fence and use my magic to leap over it. When I land on the other side, I run straight into the woods.
"Did she just run into the enchanted woods?" One elf asks with surprise.
The elf in front slows his horse and says "Uh-huh"
"Are we just gonna let her go?" The other elf asks with worry.
"Yup," says the elf in front before saying "She won't make it out alive anyway."
I run without any idea of where I'm going but when I see that I'm no longer being chased, I slow to a stop and struggle to catch my breath. What the hell is happening and where the hell am I? Was I so drunk I was kidnapped?
No, wait... Suddenly images from last night start flooding in as I grow more and more shocked. "Shit..." I say looking around the strange woods with new eyes. I didn't really travel to the past... did I?
I look around the woods for answers but nothing but silence greets me. I lift a shaky hand to my head as I stumble back into a tree. I look up to the sky but it looks like the same blue sky I've always known. When I hear a branch snap, I quickly look behind me but I don't see anything.
Maybe they did follow me in.. I need to keep moving. I turn back and start heading straight to put as much distance between me and them as humanly possible. As I continue to walk through the woods, I notice how all the trees and plants are different.
It looks like a page out of a child's coloring book... The trees were all bright colors and all wrong. I continue walking until my foot falls further down than it should! I stumble and fall straight into a patch of bright pink mushrooms with white spots.
To my surprise and slight horror, the mushrooms all shoot out puffs of pink dust as they take off running and screaming in terror. When I accidentally inhale the pink dust, I begin coughing until it turns into laughter. They were farting pink puffs of laughing gas!!
Before I realize it, I'm rolling around holding my stomach as I laugh until tears are pouring down my face. The pink mushrooms are all bouncing around me, laughing with me as if we're all tripping on shrooms.
Tripping on shrooms... hahaha! That's exactly what I did!! The pink mushrooms puff out more of the pink dust, causing me to laugh until I can't breathe. I struggle to stand up and prop myself up on the tree as I beg them to stay away from me through my laughter.
I'm going to die of laughter at this rate!!
