I walk over and look out over the dark and empty park with a smile. Being that it's so empty, he should come for me in no time. I'm sure he's hungry... As I walk further into the park, I start to come across a few spirits but when I see several female ghosts huddled together in fear, I know where I need to go.
Even though they're dead, they still fear the thing they last saw and if my guess is correct, they have every right to be scared. As I slow my pace, I spin the umbrella on my shoulder as my long scent blocking necklace sways against my chest.
I don't want it to get a whiff of what I really am and take off. I start humming a soft tune as I stroll through the empty, dark park and then I smell it. My lip twitches ever so slightly at my correct guess but it's short-lived when I think about how it's here.
They normally stay further up North... odd. I need to be careful though... I'm dealing with a Wendigo. They crave human flesh and are super stealthy. Fast and strong... the perfect hunter that knows and uses every inch of its territory. They also smell like rotting flesh...
They're always hungry and craving flesh so they're driven by their hunger. I keep humming as the female ghosts look on with terror, no doubt knowing what's going to happen to me. When I suddenly feel the air change, I quickly spin out of the way and use the umbrella to block its sharp claws.
It cries out in anger and attacks again! Its speed and strength was incredible, instantly exciting me as I spin the umbrella back onto my shoulder. I smile at the creepy, tall creature and say "You're a long way from home Wendigo. You're now in my territory and I don't take kindly to your kind eating humans."
It snarls at me with large, sharp teeth, clearly angry at me. Thin, torn skin peels back in a bloody mess around its mouth as it lunges at me again. I watch the Wendigo charge at me with a smile as my eyes suddenly glow with an eerie light.
The lights in the park suddenly go out, basking everything in darkness as my eyes continue to glow with an eerie light. The Wendigo hesitates when it starts to get a feel of my true power but that's all I need. A moment of hesitation.
With a smile, I twist my umbrella again and watch as several body parts fly off of the Wendigo. It tries to turn and run but I 'tsk' at it and say "The whole park is sealed Wendigo. No one in, no one out. I think you should know what it feels like to be hunted and devoured."
My eyes continue to glow as I call forth the women he killed. They hesitate at first, afraid of the creature that killed them but it doesn't take long for them to start attacking. I pour my power into the female ghosts, just enough to allow them to hurt the Wendigo and sit back to watch the show.
When nothing but a mushy pile is left, I call my powers back and slowly walk over to the fleshy pile. I lift my hand and watch as the pile slowly begins to turn to ash. I turn to the ghosts and say "I know that was not enough to make things right but you need to move on or you'll get stuck here forever."
After saying my piece, I turn around and walk away. I drop the shield I placed over the park and curse. The Super Natural Police were here and I had a very angry man glaring at me with his arms crossed over his fit chest.
I give the man a polite smile and try to walk past him but he stops me when he says "Funny seeing you here, Hallows." I grit my teeth and turn to look at him as I say "What brings you here, Harris?" His dark eyebrows shoot up as he points to himself saying "Me? I'm just trying to solve a few murders. You wouldn't happen to know anything about that, now would you?"
I give him a strained smile as I say "Murders? No... I'm just out enjoying a late-night stroll, see?" I point to my umbrella to prove my point but Harris just narrows his eyes even more. He walks over to me and stares down at me as he says "Why do you always show up when there are unsolved cases? What makes everything so much worse... they magically go 'poof' after. I have a feeling everything has gone 'poof' again."
I look up to his baby blue eyes and struggle to find the right words. Deny, deny, deny! I try to give him my most innocent look as I say "I'm really sorry... I've been told I'm really lucky so maybe that has something to do with it."
He scoffs at my lame excuse and leans in even closer as he says "A lucky witch? Now that's funny. If I catch you meddling in police affairs, I will personally arrest you and lock your ass up." My smile turns into a smirk as I say "I don't doubt that."
I reach out and fix a button on his shirt with a little magic before saying "Have a wonderful night, Harris. I hope you find the answers you're looking for." His baby blue eyes watch me in silence as I turn and walk back to my car.
Harris was human and very much a stickler for rules. He always went by the rules and if anyone ever threatened those rules, it was like someone was personally threatening him. He's not a bad guy but I really don't want to get caught up with the law.
I place my umbrella back into the trunk of my car before pulling away. Harris watches me closely until I'm out of sight. I can't help but chuckle as I head back to the Blue Nile. It was hard finding a spot this time because the bars and clubs were now open.
Music and laughter can be heard as I walk over to the Blue Nile after parking my car on the other side of the street. I may have used a little magic to get it... just a little. I make my way over to the bar and smile when Kyle sees me.
He gives the couple in front of him their drinks before walking over to me with a large smile. He yells over the music and asks "Did you really take care of it?" I nod my head and take the glass of vodka he hands me.
He leans in more and asks "What was it?" I knock the vodka back and look up to his green blue eyes with a smirk as I say "Do you really want to know that?" His eyes search mine for a few seconds before he suddenly shakes his head no and says "On second thought, I like being able to sleep at night."
