Chapter 4 - XP!

I need points and strength!

Points… Strength…

Debating between the two of them for a while, in the end Yang Shen picked strength first.

Not because of how high he valued strength to be in this dog eat dog world though. No no, instead it was because Yang Shen lacked enough confidence to complete any of the quests available to him.

But on the outside though, he would just say that the low number of points he could obtain from the quests would not be enough for him to do much by using them.

Standing up inside his one-room house, which was the type of house where most of the poorest people lived at, Yang Shen got ready to cultivate.

He might not have been able to do it in the beginning, but after consuming the book regarding cultivation's basics, Yang Shen could now sense the presence of Qi in the air.

And due to this, there was nothing holding him who possessed a cultivation technique back from starting cultivation.

Standing erect and adopting a posture according to the Primordial Nine Suns Technique's first part which for some reason only contained enough steps to train until the Dantian Opening Realm.

Though the price to purchase the second part of the technique which most likely contained the continuation for the first part was impossible for the current him to purchase, Yang Shen decided to think about it in the future and focus on his own training for now.

Before one could begin with storing Qi inside them, their body needed to grow strong enough to bear with the pressure and stress of doing so.

This was one of the reasons why kids were encouraged to start cultivating when they were twelve. Because officially, what they were doing was training their bodies to grow strong enough that if they were lucky, they could start the real cultivation once they turned eighteen which was the best age to do so.

Despite knowing all of this though, Yang Shen didn't feel too much discouraged.

After all, unlike the others, he possessed a system which allowed him to grow stronger by killing living creatures.

Sure ants weren't good enough. But what about becoming a butcher at a meat shop for a while, and then start hunting beasts in the wild?

Once he did that, was there anything which would stop him from becoming as strong as the geniuses and prodigies in the same age as him?

Putting such thoughts aside for now, Yang Shen placed all of his attention and focus on training his body.

This was because even though he technically knew exactly what he needed to do, he still needed to physically do it. And to someone who wasn't much of an athlete in his previous life either, Yang Shen was sure that it wouldn't be easy at all.

"Fuuuu…. Here it goes!"

Taking a stance according to the technique and punching forward, Yang Shen made sure to move his body as correctly and in sync to the details inside his head as possible.

Still, to him who perfectly knew every last detail about the technique, Yang Shen could count the number of mistakes he was making with as many as ten hands.

XP + 0.1

Smiling wryly at how low it was, Yang Shen regained his spirit from thinking how much XP he'd receive if he didn't make any mistake at all.

Pulling his hand back and pausing for a moment, Yang Shen reflected on his various mistakes and tried to lessen them by as much as possible.

XP + 0.3

Not discouraged by how little the XP had increased, Yang Shen like before took some time to understand where all he went wrong and not repeat the mistake again.

It was too bad that he didn't possess enough points to increase his proficiency regarding the technique, if not he could just directly increase his proficiency to one hundred points and enjoy watching the increase in XP surge by a lot.

Looking towards the proficiency of the Primordial Nine Suns Technique which had not even risen by 1% after he rectified so many mistakes, Yang Shen could only continue with his trial and error method to reduce his total mistakes.

XP….

"Haaa… Haa…"

Panting loud, Yang Shen couldn't even bring himself to smile from looking towards the XP bar which now had 20 points in it due to how exhausted he was.

Now he knew why cultivation was done while taking breaks and not non stop.

Given how badly his body was exhausted right now, Yang Shen doubted if he could try and cultivate any time soon. All he could do right now was rest. As for continuing his training, he doubted he could do so anytime before sunrise tomorrow.

Understanding the value of auxiliary support to cultivation known as Alchemy since he just found something in the shop which would replenish his lost energy and get rid of all his tiredness and stress allowing him to continue with his training.

Yang Shen felt the need for points further increasing since a single one of those pills cost 3 Points.

Well, whatever. That's it for now.

Sitting up after a long time, Yang Shen who had no hurry to grow strong felt satisfied from looking towards the XP bar which was 1/10th full and the 24% proficiency he had in the Primordial Nine Suns Technique.

Looking towards the sun in the distance which was setting in the distance, Yang Shen got up and took some of his clean clothes with him and proceeded towards the closest bathhouse to wash himself and get rid of all the sweat sticking to his skin.
