Chapter 11 - Are you a Wayne or a Stark?

When school finally came to an end. Yamakawa Shou asked Kei to come to his house. The reason was so he could help him convince his parents to let him train as well as tell them the ideas he had for the gadgets he would use.

When Kei heard the reasons his friend wanted him to go visit his home. He was stunned. Although he had told Shou all those things. Kei knew how difficult it would be for Shou to endure the training he would need to be both physically and mentally ready to go out and be a hero.

When thinking of that Kei told Shou would go, only if he was sure about what he was getting himself into.

When Kei told Shou about the difficulty involved for him to reach his dream. Shou was silent for a few seconds. Finally, Shou stared at Kei with a determined look in his eyes.

"I am sure" said Shou as he continued to stare at Kei

When Kei heard that answer, he took his phone out of his pocket and called Detective Naomasa to let him know that he would be going to Shou's house today.

When Kei arrived at Shou's house. He could not help but be shocked.

Although Kei knew that Shou's parents were genius inventors. He had assumed they were quite wealthy because of it. That was until he saw the mansion in front of him. The only words that Kei could think of at this time were 'a mansion among mansions'

The mansion in front of Kei could only be described as such.

Shou who saw kei's surprised face could only give his friend an awkward smile before saying "let's go in, my parents are still waiting inside to meet you"

Once Kei heard Shou's words he snapped out of his stupor as he started making his way into the mansion step by step.

Finally when Kei and Shou were inside. They saw a man and a woman waiting for them by the stairs.

"Hello, you must be Naomasa Kei. It is a pleasure to meet you" said the man with smile on his face

"We have heard so much about you from Shou. Please come in and make yourself at home" said the woman with a kind smile

These two were Shou's parents, the Yamakawa couple.

Shou's mother, Yamakawa Hanako then led them to the living room.

Once there the four of them sat down. Shou's Father, Yamakawa Kenji spoke to Kei saying "we are glad to finally meet you Kei. Like my wife said earlier we have heard a great deal about you from our son"

"Thank you for having me over" said Kei before continuing " and I am also happy to finally meet you both too"

After a while of conversing. Shou who had something important he wanted to discuss with his parents finally told them what was on his mind.

"Mom, dad, I have something important that I want to discuss with you both"

"Shou, what is it you want to tell us" said Shou's father

"Mom, dad, I want to start training to become a hero" said Shou with a determined look

When Shou's parents heard what he had said. They could not help but be stunned. Both of them had long known that Shou did not have a quirk. So when Shou said he still wanted to train to become a hero. They could not help but have a look of pity in their eyes.

"Shou, we know you have always dreamt of being a hero. But you know that without a quirk the heroes association will not give you a heroes license" said Shou's mother

"Then that just means I will need to work harder to make them acknowledge me" said Shou to his parents

"Shou, it does not matter how hard you work. To them, all that matters is that you have a strong quirk" said Shou's father

"Even if we did agree. Don't you think it's too early for you to start training?" Said Shou's mother

"It is not too early. Look at Kei, he has been training for the past year" said Shou while pointing at Kei

Kei who had not gotten involved, could finally get in on the discussion.

"Shou is right, I have been training for the past year" said Kei

"Really, Kei don't you think you have started your training too early. I mean, what is the rush, you are still young. You should be enjoying your youth" said Shou's father to Kei

When Shou's father said that. Kei could not help but think of Bakugo and Todoroki.

Even though both of them are the same age as himself and Shou. Both Bakugo and Todoroki have been training at a much younger age.

"I don't think training this young is a bad thing. After all, someone that is aiming to be a professional player doesn't start practicing once they start high school" said Kei before he continued "a person who has a goal to be something will have a better chance of accomplishing that goal the sooner he starts preparing"

Both of Shou's parents were shocked at keis sound argument. After all, both of them had aspired to reach the top of their respective careers. Just like Kei had said, both of them had started working toward their career path at an early age.

"Fine, I will admit that Kei makes a great point, but you still do not have a quirk" said Shou's father in a somewhat tired manner

"Even if you do become a master in hand to hand combat. What will you do if the villain you are fighting uses long range attacks?" asked Shou's mother in a worried tone

When Shou heard his mother ask that question. He had no answer to give in return. The only thing he could do was look to Kei in hopes of him having an answer to that question.

When Kei saw Shou look towards him. Kei already had the answer.

"That is easy" said Kei as he continued "we just need to have him trained in the use of long range weapons"

Shou's parents at this point realized that it was not going to be easy to get Shou to give up.

Finally Shou's parents decided to give in. Since their son was determined to train and they could not come up with a valid reason to stop him. They finally decided to give their support.

The biggest reason they had decided to support him was because they were certain that even if he did train. The heroes association would still not let him become a certified hero.

"Hah, fine Shou, we will permit you to start training" said Shou's father in a stern voice

"I will get in touch with some people who are qualified to teach you" said Shou's mother

When Shou heard his parents agreeing to let him train. He was excited knowing he was going to take his first step to realizing a dream he had long given up on.

Kei on the other hand was not so naive. He had already realized Shou's parents were just agreeing because they felt their son would not be able to handle the harsh training and quit.

Even if he did stick through the training. They were probably certain that the heroes association would never allow Shou who was quirk-less get a hero license.

When Kei thought up to there he realized he had to say something.

"Mr. and Mrs. Yamakawa I know that even though you say that you agree to let Shou train. It is only because you know that his chances of succeeding are low or that he will not be able to handle the harsh training and quit" said Kei in a serious manner

When Shou heard what Kei said. He looked towards his parents to see if what Kei had said was true.

When he saw the expression on both his parents faces. He realized that what Kei had said was true. His parents had no faith in him becoming a hero.

It was understandable, after all he had no quirk. The other reason he could think of was that he was not an energetic child. Most of his childhood revolves around him studying and playing indoors and having the maids bring him food.

If you would look at Shou, you would see that he was not the fittest in his class nor the most overweight. Your first impression would be that Shou would not be able to handle the training and quit.

Shou who had realized his parents did not believe in him, began to tear up. Not wanting Kei to see him like that, he quickly ran toward his room.

When Shou's parents saw Shou like that their hearts felt heavy.

"Why did you have to say that" said Shou's father to Kei

His son was so happy moments ago, when he heard him and his wife agree to his desire to train.

Now his son was crying because of them. He was crying because he realized they did not truly believe and supported his dream.

When Kei heard what Shou's father said. He could only answer in one way.

"Because it is the truth" said Kei

"Even if it was, you did not have to tell him" said Shou's father in an angered tone in his voice

It was at this point that Kei asked Shou's parents one question.

"Do you really believe he cannot accomplish his dream?"

"Do you really believe he can?" Asked Shou's father

"Yes, I do" answered Kei without any hesitation

When Shou's parents heard Kei answer without a sliver of doubt. They could not help but wonder why Kei felt so confident at his answer.

"Why?, why are you so sure?" Asked Shou's mother in a shaken tone

"Because I believe in him" said Kei

"How can you believe in him so much. You two haven't even known each other long" said Shou's father

"You do not need to know someone long to believe in them" answered Kei

When Shou's parents heard keis answer they felt ashamed. They were Shou's parents and they could not even believe in their own son to accomplish his dream.

Yet this young boy in front of them could. When they realized this, they both felt like they had failed their son.

Shou, who had been on the second floor near the staircase. Could hear kei and his parents conversation.

When he heard how confident Kei was. He could not help but feel a deep sense of gratitude. This person that had been his friend for a short time believed he could accomplish his dream.

Kei who was sitting there watching Shou's parents sitting in silence. Finally started to talk.

"Mr. and Mrs. Yamakawa I know that you think Shou's chances of accomplishing his dream of being a hero are next to zero" said Kei while smiling

"But I might have some ideas to increase his chance" said Kei

When Shou's parents heard that Kei had actually thought of some ways to give Shou a chance to succeed. They could not help but be curious at what keis ideas were.

"Alright we're listening" said Shou's father

"Well before I get to that. How well connected are you when it comes to next generation technology?" asked Kei

When Shou's parents heard keis question. They could not help but smile.

When it came to Shou's parents. Kei only knew they were brilliant when it came to inventing things. What Kei did not know however, was that besides being gifted when it came to inventing. They were also great investors.

Shou's parents had invested in many of the best companies. The most being those that were working on advanced technology.

When Kei heard this. He started telling Shou's parents his ideas. The majority of these ideas were suits of armor as well as an assortment of gadgets. Many of these ideas came from the many comics he had read in his previous life.

Shou, who had come back midway through Kei explaining his ideas. Could not help but be shocked. He felt that If his parents could make even a fraction of what Kei had suggested them make. Then his chances to become a hero would sky rocket.

It was not just Shou who thought that. Even his parents that were thinking the same.

Once kei finished. Shou's parents felt motivated to start working on keis ideas.

When Kei saw this. He could not help but smile as he saw Shou being encouraged by his parents to work hard. Now all kei had to do was wait and see.

When the thought of waiting entered his mind. With a smile on his face. He could not help but whisper in a voice that only he could hear.

"I cannot wait to see"

"If you are a Wayne or a Stark"
