Chapter 2 - Chapter 1 - Morning Dew

The cold morning air nipped at my nose as I stepped out the door of the small, lopsided shed I live in. "Good morning, Redquire Forest," I whispered to myself. I put on my steel-toe boots, which were damp from the fresh morning dew. The familiar sounds of blue birds and cardinals echoed throughout the grove my shack was located in. Still groggy, I prepared myself for another long list of collecting various herbs and flowers. "Witch's hazel, lavender, iberis... Yep, same stuff as last week. I just need to get this done real quick, 'n I've got the week off-" I said with a yawn. I stepped back into the house and grabbed my navy blue coat. It didn't have any sleeves, though, so I suppose you could call it a cloak. I then tied my frizzy wine-coloured hair into a short pony tail, clipped my jacinth-encrusted brooch onto my cloak, grabbed my wolf-skin satchel, and I was set to venture into the outside world.

I spent around an hour collecting whatever was on the list, and I was close to finished, too. As I glanced through the list one last time, I saw something new. "Demon tears..? Where am I supposed to find...-" I was cut off as a shadow loomed over me. I looked up and saw a tall man staring down at me. "Why, hello, little girl! What's that you have?" I took one look and knew exactly who he was. Quiver Lynch. The man who had raided my village 10 years ago.

I quickly rolled up my list of items and grabbed my satchel. I ran. I ran far, far, far away from him. I ran as fast as I could, but he was trailing not too far behind. I looked back and he abruptly stopped with a sinister look on his face. Did he give up? I looked back to my frontal view and quickly realized...

I was one step away from falling to my certain doom. My body was already committed to running, but my mind was screaming to stop. I couldn't feel the ground beneath my feet. I was falling, falling down to my death. It took me a second to realize I was screaming. I looked up to see the wretched man looking at me, waving. My life flashed before my eyes, and I was certain I was dead. Everything I had worked for will all be for nothing. Or so I thought.

I was a few inches away from death but I was.. floating? I was then dropped, which still kind of hurt, I'll have you know. All I had was one question. Where was I?
