Chapter 69 - Chapter 67

"You think that old man will wake up if you get him by your side? Quit your dreaming, kid.", Adamson said in a very cold voice. His face dark.

"And you once said he died. But you never wanted to kill him, why?", Aubrey walked past Adamson and he took a seat on the bed. He looked relaxed and nonchalant, it ticked Adamson off even further.

"Listen Aubrey, if you think that you are one step ahead of me then you're mistaken. That guy who you 'cooperate' with is more violent than me. You don't want to be in his vicinity.", Adamson turned behind to take his leave. He felt like killing Aubrey if he stays any longer.

Aubrey laughed it off.

"How dare you, of all people gives me that advice? You don't think you're innocent in this do you? Hah.. what a joke.", Aubrey said. He found another hobby now, the one to piss Adamson off.

"Shut him up, I don't care how you do it. Make him regret.", Adamson told the guards when he was about to leave the room. Aubrey was getting bolder than yesterday. He changed too fast. Was it all fake and just an act? If it was, then he actually fell for it.

After he left, Aubrey faced the two guards.

"Now.. will you let me go?", Aubrey smiled, as if he wasn't in a difficult situation at all.

"Young master, you should behave.", the guard stepped closer.

Aubrey felt like laughing when he remembered something from the past. Before, he would always be in fear whenever the guards came close to him. But now he felt nothing.

"I don't want to do this but I guess your older sister will get in trouble.", Aubrey suddenly mentioned the guard's sister.

The man halted when he realized what Aubrey was getting at. This young master was not the him from before.

"And what is that supposed to mean?", he asked.

"You see, your chairman's enemy is my 'friend'. We have a deal and he can make your life suffer beneath his feet when his deal isn't fulfilled by time.", Aubrey said, he faced the man with a look so composed.

"I need to go now. Make sure you take care of your family members from now on.", Aubrey stood and he walked through them. He went to the door and he faced the two guards again.

"Don't you want to open this? It's locked.", he said, pointing at the door.

At Prime Hospital, Lucy was in a consultation with her patient. She finished around an hour later. Shutting herself in her office, she checked her phone to see whether she has received messages or calls from Aubrey. Sadly none at all.

"What is he doing?! Geez!! I'm missing him like crazy but he didn't bother calling me.", she sighed while lazily dumping her head on the desk. It was lonely without him..

Not long after her moping, the door was knocked. She raised her head slowly only to see Gary. Gosh.. she hadn't seen him for so long! Where did he go?

She felt awkward but Lucy tried to act natural. She promised her aunt that she would talk to Gary and now seems like the best time.

"Please take a seat.", she said.

Gary didn't say a word, he just sat. Lucy knew what was on his mind but she didn't want to start anything. She waited for him patiently.

"Did you know my feelings from the start?", he asked her but she didn't answer.

Gary smiled wryly.

"Of course you knew.. you're a psychologist.", he said to himself.

"I'm sorry.", she finally said a word, while gazing down at her own nails and fingers.

"Yeah.. sorry for playing with me and my feelings.", he said dejectedly.

"I knew it would turn out like this, that's why I never mentioned anything to you. You should understand Gary. You're my cousin, nothing more and nothing less. I can't and won't return your feeling, even in the future.", Lucy explained, she sounded serious and cold. But she should let him know of their circumstances. Now all they ever had before was gone.

"It's not like I can control my feelings for you. Don't make light of this! I feel miserable.. don't you know how long I've been in love with you?!", Gary said as he turned his head away. He felt hopeless beyond words.

Lucy crossed her arms over her chest. She felt guilty for doing this but her heart wasn't with this man.

"That's why I said I'm sorry. I don't love you. It takes two to tango, Gary.", Lucy got up from her seat as she went to her door.

She opened the door and she faced Gary.

"Please forgive me. I never wish to lose what we originally had. But now I've lost it.", Lucy smiled lightly as she showed him the way out.

But Gary didn't want to give up. They've known each other far longer than that Aubrey! He came from nowhere and snatched Lucy from him.

"But Lucy, I care for you. I know the rumor, you must not come close to the Lee! They're different from us!", he said, still trying till the end. He didn't want to give her up.

Lucy pursed her lips in anger. She had not seen Aubrey since yesterday and she was literally in a mess, now this guy wanted to piss her off by bringing that up?!

"Shut your mouth and get out! I don't care about any of that!", she yelled loud enough for others to hear. Gary was stupefied.

This was all Aubrey's fault. Where the hell was he?! She swore to give him a life lesson when they meet.

At around five, Lucy was still working on the files of her patient, Mary Hwang. She was a long term patient in her department since the new year. Mary was involved in a car accident which cost her fiance to die on the scene. It was a traumatic experience for a young girl to handle. Of course she would be admitted to the psychology department.

While Lucy was busy with the data, she heard her door being knocked. She sighed softly. She had told them that she wouldn't want to be disturbed today.

"What? Unless it's important, don't come see me.", she said.

"Excuse me doctor, but there is a man who wants to see you. He won't go back even if we tell him you don't want visitors.", a nurse said from the other side.

Lucy raised her brow. A man? Who could it be..?! Aubrey?!

She immediately ran outside and found no Aubrey but instead, a man she didn't know. He was standing with his back resting against the wall, both his hands in his pockets.

"Who..?", her once delighted face became her usual moody one.

"Hey.. don't make that face when meeting with your date.", he said once he noticed her changes of expression.

"What? Who are you?", she asked, her voice sounded uninterested.

"Your supposed partner in a blind date, Joe Ahn.", he introduced himself.

Lucy's eyes went wide. What?? What was he doing here?

"Look here, I'm not interested in you so please cancel the date. It's in the past.", she turned around.

"Hey, you think I'm interested in you? You already have a boyfriend.", he said, mocking. This woman was cocky indeed.

Lucy faced Joe again.

"Then what do you want?"

"Her number. Olivia Min.", he said simply.

Lucy's eyes grew big again for the second time. What was going on Olivia?! Oh- she remembered, she told Olivia to go in her stead! Damn! She really did nail it!

Lucy creeped closer to Joe again as she scanned him from up to down. Hm.. not bad.

Joe became confused when she 'switched' her attitude towards him from being cold to being close. What did she want?

"Hm.. so you're interested in Olivia.", she said in a matter-of-fact tone.

"Hey!", he became flustered.

"Listen man, if you make her cry.. I will haunt you in your sleep. I will make sure you die before you turn fourty.", Lucy said as she handed out her hand towards Joe.

Joe moved his eyes to her hand. He was confused.

"Where's your phone?", she asked. And he gave it to her without blinking an eye.

Lucy gave Olivia's number to Joe. Though she was happy for the change, she was still worried. What if this man wasn't serious? Olivia had never been in a relationship even once! Her fear towards men was evident.

"You hear me? I said if you make her-", he cut off her words.

"Yes yes, I'll use this chance to get close to her and never make her cry.", he said.

"Good.", she smiled. This Joe guy seemed decent enough.

"Thanks, Lucy Kim.", he waved her goodbye when he saw Olivia's number in his phone. He got what he came here for.

"Just Lucy is fine. Let's get along, Joe!", she waved at him too.

Hoho Olivia.. how dare you not telling me about this! Lucy ran to her office again and grabbed her phone. Straightly calling Olivia in a beat. Her best friend needed to explain!
