Chapter 39 - Chapter 37

They were lost in their own little world when Lucy's phone rang.

"Geez, who else is interrupting..", she picked it up.

"Lucy, you've got to tell me every single detail!! And why didn't you come to work today? You know this would happen don't you?!", her aunt words got through the phone to her ear. It was not a pleasant tone..

Here came another problem.. how should she explain to her family?

~Hello, I found a handsome guy almost dying in my backyard and I helped him without thinking twice. And then we lived together and I fell in love with him and I jumped him just last night and when we woke up we were already busted!~

Was that acceptable?

"Aunt Annie.. please stop this. I'm an adult, I can take care of my own. I don't need to explain myself to you or to my parents.", she sighed while pinching the area between her brows. She wasn't a kid for goodness sake. Her family was too old oriented.

"How can you say something like that? We care for you, Lucy.", Annie said, she sounded disappointed.

"Stop it aunt. I'll talk again when we meet.", Lucy meant to hang up the call but her aunt stopped her.

"Lucy! We're not done yet! We'll meet straight away after I finish my job!", Annie Kim called off the phone call.

Lucy sighed slowly. Her aunt was a reasonable person. She would understand if Lucy talk to her properly. She was the most understanding. She had once helped Lucy to try for psychology when her parents were against it. Perhaps her aunt would take her side again..

"Well.. my aunt loves me after all.", she mumbled something to herself.

"So.. where were we?!", Lucy turned to Aubrey. Their cuddling was always interrupted.

Aubrey chuckled slightly when his girlfriend was suddenly acting cute. She had her hands on her waist and was pointing her lips in objection. She really didn't fancy being disturbed..

"Come.", he opened his arms wide for her. Lucy's smile was bigger than before. She was satisfied.

"Hm.. Aubrey, you're getting bolder..", she commented. She jumped in his arms while sitting on his thigh.

"Who was bolder than me?", he said, he was holding back laughter.

He secured the woman tightly. He didn't want to let go. For some reason, he felt more confident when she was in his arms. His bitter memories faded away from him and his insecurities grew thinner.

"Hm.. this feels nice.", she said. She laid her head on his chest. He smelled just like her.

"Don't stop using my bodywash when you stay there.", she told him. He nodded.

And just when she was getting sleepy in his arms, another call went in. Lucy cursed whoever the caller was. She lazily picked it up.

"Yes, who is this? Make it quick.", she said, sighing.

"You don't recognize your own grandfather's number?", a voice of an old man could be heard. It held some authority and firmness.

Lucy widened her eyes in surprise. She took the phone from her ear and looked at the screen. It wrote 'Grandfather'.

Ehhh??

"Ahaha grandfater.. how are you? Oh please, I'm just joking..!", she said, fidgeting while still in Aubrey's embrace.

"Stop pretending. Let me see the man who lives in your house.", Charles Kim said. He was getting straight to the point.

Lucy faced Aubrey. And of course he could also hear their conversation. His face blank. How in the world did her grandfather know?

"Where did you hear this from?", Lucy asked. Was it Gary? He was so fast in telling their grandfather?

"I want to see him and that's final. Bring him to me by dinner today.", the old man said. He cut off the call.

"Huh? Grandfather?!", Lucy was dumbfounded. What was going on?

The Kim mansion where her grandfather lived was in the next city! That was far!

"Oh goodness gracious..", Lucy shook her head in denial.

First, it was Olivia then her parents and aunt, also Gary. Now her grandfather. How could Aubrey's existence be so easily discovered??

They didn't have any idea that Charles Kim had been looking out for Aubrey ever since his escape from the hospital. All the way to Lucy's house, Charles Kim knew what happened.

"Damn.. what should we do? My grandfather isn't difficult to deal with. My parents are. But.. he can mean trouble since he already know about you.", she said. Why weren't things going her way..??

"It's alright. You said your parents are difficult. So why not get backup from your grandfather?", he suggested.

"Oh.. brilliant! That's right, why didn't I think of that?!", Lucy started to be optimistic again. Her grandfather was kind and doting unlike her parents. It would be a piece of cake to convince him. And Lucy was his favourite grandchild.

"Aw.. you're so clever!", she ruffled his hair with both hands. It was so smooth!

Aubrey let her do whatever she wanted. It actually felt nice when she touched his hair.

And then he was attacked with a sudden kiss. Lucy kissed him slowly, their lips met the surface of the other's.

She really liked kissing him. She knew he wouldn't start it without her lead first. Such a good natured man..

In a private hospital at city K, quite far from where Prime Hospital was, a man with a white coat sat on his seat. He was writing something in the report. He had just finished surgery that took place several hours ago.

His phone beeped for a second, indicating a new arrival message. He took off his glasses and scrolled through the phone. It was from his father?

"Don't forget the date is tomorrow. Don't ditch it and give me some face.", he chuckled. His smile was mischievous.

"A blind date with a psychologist named Lucy Kim huh..", he put down the phone.

The door was knocked from outside.

"Come in.", he said.

"Doctor Ahn, here's the report you asked for.", a nurse went to his desk and put the file. She tried to appear calm but the handsomeness of the man didn't leave her mind.

"Thanks.", he said, not even once lifted up his face.

The nurse went out in disappoinment. She was trying hard to please his eyes with her super tight skirt. But it did nothing to the aloof man.

Joe Ahn rested his back onto the chair. Should he go to the date or should he not..?
