The dance was yet to begin, some guests were engaging in a nice talk and some were having appetizer, to have a taste of the popular dessert from Simply Dess, Olivia's own store.
Lucy felt suffocated with all eyes centered around her. She truly didn't like it. Talking directly with the madam of the house and her daughter made her the target of envy and wonder. Lucy sighed deeply in her head. She had attracted a lot of attention just in 30 minutes. Wearing such bold dress also didn't help. It made things worse.
Lucy decided to use the restroom and she excused herself. She always frequented the mansion when she was in highschool. So she remembered the way and didn't need an escort. She went alone.
She arrived at the restroom and was taking her time. When she was about to go back, she forgot her purse on the sink. She went back to retrieve it. Lucy got a text from Olivia, telling her to come faster. The dance was about to start. Lucy held herself back from punching the wall. If she was a cold hearted friend, she would just ditch Olivia and went home right this instant.
Getting occupied with her own thoughts, Lucy didn't realize that she was walking very fast, she almost tripped over the hem of her dress and bumped into a person.
"Ouch- I'm very sorry!", she took a look over the man whom she had collided with.
Lucy's eyes widened for a second but she tried not to seem very surprised. She saw the man's eyes, they reminded her of someone. Deep purple.. Aubrey?
"Chairman Lee, are you alright?", the head butler asked. He looked worried as Adamson was someone who hated physical contact with others.
Adamson didn't say a word. He just nodded. He then went about his way, while being escorted with about three bodyguards behind him.
'What an arrogant man! He didn't even apologize.', Lucy cursed the man. But she suddenly became aware that she was the one who bumped into him first..
'Oh..'
Lucy started walking towards the main hall, where the dance floor was. But she halted when she remembered the butler's words. Chairman Lee..? Did she hear it wrong? No.
'Aubrey Lee.. chairman Lee..?', Lucy looked behind her again. The man was gone.
There was a possibility of that man having ties with Aubrey. She needed to ask Aubrey later. But first, she had to look for some information regarding that man. If he was here for the party then he must also be one of the business partners of Min Corporation.
Min Corporation was not just a small company. It was one of the top five in the country. All of their partners in business are all big shots too.
'Which Lee family was he from..?', Lucy contemplated. She wasn't aware that she was already here in the hall.
"Lucy! Come have a dance with my brother!", Olivia grabbed Lucy's hand and they went to the center.
Lucy was pushed from behind and she collided with the suit of a man. Her face on his chest. She could barely feel her nose now.. damn Olivia!
"Are you alright Lucy?", Liam asked. He was holding back laughter. His sister and Lucy really was a pair made in heaven. They blended in perfectly.
"I'm not. Thank you for asking anyway.", she rolled her eyes. Liam was such a teaser.
"So.. what are you here for?", Liam asked Lucy. He knew Lucy was not a party person. Especially the extravagant one like this.
They had known each other through Olivia. When Lucy first came to the mansion, she got to know Liam as the first son of Min family. They were not close but at least acquainted with the other. Liam was an easy-going type of person, and it reminded Lucy of someone.. her own sister. Mia was playful too.
She shook her head slightly. She and Olivia really had a matching sibling..
"To dance with a troublemaker.", she answered Liam's question.
Though they were not close, they had known each other for more than ten years. And Liam was someone Lucy found easy to get along with. She was aware of the rumour surrounding Liam. And based on his mannerisms and characters, she could guess it was himself who started the rumour. Nobody could challenge Lucy with her observation skills.
"Oh..? This must be Olivia's plan.", he said, sneering.
"Yes, and the stupid plan involves me too. What a rumour you've created.", she said, irritated.
Liam laughed. It was not his fault that those women always wanted to climb his bed. He was sick of it.
Liam was a definition of hot guy. His face that had a trace of Eurasian from his ancestors and his pale brown eyes really complimented his looks along with his shiny blond hair. He was wealthy too.
"Let's just dance and I'll be going home after this.", Lucy spoke.
"Alright. And I'm sorry for my sister", Liam said honestly.
He was happy to know that his sister cared for him, but doing this would only make his plan to stay away from women inefficient.
"Yes, your sister is a handful.", Lucy finally smiled.
The ball now was starting officially. The music was slow and sensual, many of the guests gathered around the center to have a dance with their respective partners.
Gina Min was accompanied with her daughter by her side. She saw her husband walking towards them. He looked very pleased. The talk with chairman Lee must be very successful. That man was known to be hard to please.
"You look happy.", Gina said.
"Yes I am.", Matthew Min replied.
"I guess your guest is gone now? He didn't join the event?", Gina asked her husband.
"Chairman Lee isn't interested in this kind of event. Even having him in our house was a big achievement.", Matthew said, the project was going to be a success. He was glad to see that his invitation for a casual talk before the party was accepted.
Lee Group was a leading company to all other corporations in the country. Because they stood at the top and even the country's economic line were controlled by them. They were a pot- no, a gold mine worth trillions and above.
Matthew Min looked around to find his son, and he saw him dancing with a woman. He narrowed his eyes to the woman.
"He's dancing with Lucy?", Matthew looked at his wife and daughter.
"I told Lucy to dance with him.", Olivia said. She smiled awkwardly.
"It's been a long time since I last saw her.", Matthew voiced out his opinion.
"She's a busy doctress.", Gina said.
"She would make a good candidate for Liam.", Matthew suddenly said. His words almost make Olivia coughed the wine out of her mouth.
"Dad! They're not suitable for each other! Oh poor Lucy if she ever married Liam!", Olivia sighed aloud.
As much as she wanted Lucy to be her sister, she didn't think it was a good idea to pair the laid back Liam to the workaholic Lucy. They will clash.
"Why not? We've known Lucy for so long. She's the only woman I found good for our Liam.", Gina said, she was supporting her husband.
She had been meaning to ask Leah or Annie about Lucy. But she never had the chance ever since the rumour started to spread.
"No way! They're not going to make it.", Olivia protested heavily. She knew both of them too much that she could see they were not each other's type.
"Why? Don't you want Lucy to be you sister? You should be in this together. Let's pair them up.", Gina said, she didn't want to give up yet.
"Yes, just set a date for them. At least we can try.", Matthew nodded to his wife.
"Oh god! Lucy already has a boyfriend!", Olivia couldn't stop herself from breaking the vow she made to Lucy. She didn't keep the secret! She blown it!
Olivia realized her mistake when both of her parents' eyes widened with shock.
"Oh! No- I mean! It's supposed to be a secret!", Olivia smacked her own forehead. How dumb!
"Lucy has a boyfriend? Who is it? Is he someone I know? Which family?", Gina threw question after question towards her daughter. She couldn't believe it. She was too late.
Matthew shook his head. So Lucy was out of option. It was such a loss indeed. But then he remembered something.
"Lucy has a younger sister right? Why not her instead of Lucy?", he made a suggestion.
Lucy was a charismatic woman and came from a good background. Her sister must be very similar to her.
"Oh yeah! I heard she's a doctor too!", Gina's eyes sparkled again.
Olivia didn't hear a thing her parents said. All she knew was how dead meat she was going to be when Lucy heard of this.
