Chapter 67 - Chapter 65

As he was getting ready to go back home, Aubrey was called to the chairman's office. He sighed dejectedly. What was that man trying to do now? Another mind game?

He went up to the 89th floor, just a floor above his office. He walked inside the office room and found no one there.

"Chairman Lee, stop this act. If you have nothing to say then I'll excuse myself.", he turned around only to see a bulky man in a black suit behind him.

Aubrey was suddenly apprehended by the man.

"Hey-?!", his mouth was covered immediately.

What the hell?! Was Adamson crazy? Doing this in the broad daylight, has he gotten desperate?!

Aubrey wanted to kick this man off, but decided against it. He wasn't even trying to free himself, like he used to do. He knew getting agitated wouldn't get him anywhere.

"Please come back to the mansion, young master.", the man said as he dragged Aubrey upstairs, the 90th floor. It was an open space for a helicopter.

Adamson was waiting for him in the heli, Aubrey felt like punching his face. Couldn't he ask nicely if he wanted him to go back?

"You're just a spitting image of a tyrant, aren't you?", Aubrey said as he took a seat across Adamson. He turned away, not wanting to face him.

"Yes I am.", Adamson sneered. He felt a sudden feeling of content now that Aubrey was talking back.

Before, Aubrey would always stayed quiet in fear towards him. He would certainly prefer for Aubrey to be obedient and never fight against him, but somehow knowing that this fellow was now much stronger made him feel elated, it was definitely more fun if things were a little tough. Well, as long as he didn't cross the line, it would be fine. A leash couldn't be tied up too tight or too loose.

"Hey Aubrey, don't you have some sort of plan? You want to take back the company.. but are you really sure that you're going to succeed?", Adamson asked Aubrey, he lighted up his cigarette while facing the outside sky.

Aubrey didn't respond to him. Why should he? He hated this man with all his might.

Adamson let out a dark chuckle. His younger brother was starting to rebel huh..?

He bended closer towards Aubrey in no time then his hand grabbed his shoulder. Aubrey who was looking outside this whole time finally turned his head to face Adamson.

"Get your hand off me.", he said, his voice sounded hoarse. He really loathe his touches.

"That won't do, Aubrey.. you should push my hand away if you want me off you. Don't rely on words since they're often useless.", Adamson told him with a smile so wicked. He seemed like he was having fun.

"Thanks for your lecture, I really need it.", Aubrey said as he smacked Adamson's hand away from him. His wrist stung by the touch of their skin. It felt hot. He hated it.

"You know what, you won't be able to overthrow me in the company. Unless you have some backup plan.. well, someone like you who had been in a 'prison' all his life wouldn't be able to soar that high?", Adamson tried to fish some reaction from Aubrey. He wanted to see what Aubrey had stored in his mind.

"I'll keep that in mind, chairman Lee.", Aubrey answered him nonchalantly. He clearly didn't want to talk with him.

Adamson could see that Aubrey didn't have anything to say. It might be because he really didn't have any plan or he just hid it really well. Aubrey didn't disappear for too long, he couldn't possibly build connection that fast. The only people he interacted with was that woman, Lucy Kim. At least that was what the report said..

•••

Lucy was in frantic, why was Aubrey not home even at this hour? Where did he go? She tried calling him multiple times but his phone was turned off.

"That bastard must be the one..", she clicked her tongue. It must be because of Adamson.

She was worried sick but she didn't want to overreact. She remembered Aubrey's words before.. he wasn't going to back down anymore. He knew what he was doing.

"Relax Lucy.. he's fine. He's much stronger than you think.", she said to herself. She wasn't that worried anymore since she knew he would come back. She trusted him.

"Well, just go to sleep for now.", she went into their room.

•••

"Welcome back, young master.", all of the maids bowed their head when they saw Aubrey.

Aubrey walked inside the house without glancing over the maids, such a grand welcome for a captive? He looked around and it was still the same as before. Nothing seemed to change. He went inside his room without being told and he left Adamson behind him, never once sparing eye contact with him.

His room was strangely clean and no dust could be seen. Was it cleaned regularly by the maids?

He flopped onto the soft mattress. He wished he could miss this home, but he felt nothing at all. This was not home.

He didn't even try to turn on his phone, there must be something like a bug system here.. he would better not.

His door was knocked from outside and he realized it was from one of the maids assigned to him.

"Young master, your dinner is ready. Please come down to the dining hall.", the maid said.

Aubrey couldn't help but raise his brow. He was going to eat in the dining room? With Adamson? No way.

He didn't answer. The maid knocked on the door again but he paid it no mind. He started to miss his wife. How was she? She must be very worried.

But he had told her before that something like this would definitely happen once they decided to go against Adamson. He didn't regret it though. It was according to the plan.

Just until tomorrow, this will not be long. He might as well take a rest before morning comes. And he started to get sleepy. He just slept without coming down for dinner. Aubrey's mind was only full of Lucy and their memories. He wasn't worried at all.

•••

"Chairman Lee, young master doesn't want to have dinner.", the maid spoke.

Adamson just nodded. He ate without saying anything as he thought of Aubrey. What was that guy planning? Did he really have nothing in mind? He was pretty obedient that it's weird.

After having dinner, he went upstairs to Aubrey's room. He tried to open the door and it was not locked from inside. Aubrey's door basically has double key-lock, from inside and outside. He often locked him up from outside so that Aubrey wouldn't be able to get out.

Adamson walked inside to see the dark room with no lights. Did that guy run away? Where was he?

He went to the nearest bedside table where a lamp was and turned on the light. He saw Aubrey sleeping to which got him a little surprised.

"Hah.. you really..", he intended to go back outside but he halted as he felt a striking pain in his chest.

Adamson tried covering his face as he could feel it heated up. A trail of blood ran down his nose as he took out a handkerchief. Coughing several times, he went outside immediately.

Aubrey was awake the entire time and he saw everything. He couldn't find the right thing to assume. What was going on with Adamson? Was he sick?
