UNDER THE BRIGHT sun, Alice and Hartley slowly found their way to the cafe which Doctor Elise Lavender opened and owned. They opened the door, the bell on it ringing lightly when they entered.
For the first time, Alice watched the woman work behind the counter. She wasn't in any fancy get-up this time, dressed casually in a white frilly apron tied across her waist. She bustled about, sending out drinks and pastries for the customers each time a new order ticket was sent to her.
"Welcome!" she instinctively called out without even looking up.
Alice watched with intrigue as Doctor Lavender squeezed at the little bag, in her hands. A delicious dollop of off-white whipped cream emerged from the parchment piping bag. Just like that, the cup of frosty frappuccino was done.
