Chapter 3 - Natural selection

The air brushed against my skin and I could taste the salt filling my lungs that was so intoxicatingly sweet. The air was humming around us as I watched the tiny cells scurrying away towards their destination. I could feel the evening glow and I looked towards the horizon with a chuckle. They had no idea did they? The insignificance of the choices that led up to this day. Mirth filled my eyes as I saw the microdots running away from my view into the depths of their shelter. I could see the dark air hang around them infecting the world below me, and the corrupted souls that gazed upon the misery of the others, coveting and scheming..

I heard time ticking as they were all embraced with their final judgement. The rises of screams and shouts that filled the air previously were replaced with the ghostly shadow of silence as they watched, one by one they fell prey. Learning that this was inevitable. I watched as they sought to blame others as they slowly corrupted themselves, few were safe from judgement only to remember all that had been tortured and plagued by it. They were scared. They, who thought they were the pillar of this world. They, who thought they were the ones to solve problems they created. Little did they know they had been played by fate. Judgement. They have decided their future and the cure for the world. I stood on the edge of the tower watching them. Scorning their fate and mine. I heard the voices echo around me as I started to trace the edges. Walking slowly with death before embracing the coldness of the fall, the tiny whispers that echo alongside me. Filling my head and emptying out. The vessel of their demands becomes hollow. Judgement.

I looked around at their world as their putrid air contaminated it. Gazed at the vermin that inhibited the earth. China. The largest area filled with the most corruption. I see the black fog densley surrounding the area and smile, enraptured by the results. I watched as they coughed and desperately burning themselves trying to rid themselves of the blessing bestowed on them-ungrateful vermin. The weak quickly fell to the abyss as the others recovered soon, not enough. From my pocket I pulled a dark vial and watched as it burned in the air into the depths of hell. The red smoke spreads fast to touch the faces of death marked by the black mist and the world descends to chaos again. Their clever tricks brought them their demise as the filthy part of human nature was to abandon and flee, their filthy nature that corrupts the world as they spread my blessing to one another. Judgement.

A pity. They have become tired of their performance and so I destroy the world to let it start anew, for a fresh show to begin. The strongest that survive will rejoice, only to give entertainment to those above them that remain unseen. I am a puppet to give them their amusement as I do their bidding. I stare at the chaos in satisfaction and disappear into the morning rise. The bell rings twice as the morning light descends onto the remains of humanity and I breathe into the salty air around me and sigh. Judgement
