Chapter 77 - Burns

Indigo POV-

I stared up at the moon as I walked back to the city. I turned, looking back, seeing Ralph was out of sight. I sighed and pressed my scythe into my shoulder and sliding to the ground.

"Al, I got better, haven't I?" I looked at the shining moon and asked.

'You have but you still could do some work on your strength training, focus and most of all magic. If you weren't so bad at it, you could crush him with one finger,"

"We haven't spoken in a while as funny as this sounds I kinda miss your enigmatic voice and rude remarks," I laughed relaxing my tensed muscles.

'That's surprising,' He scoffed, his voice ice-cold.

"I know, but it's the truth," I plopped on my back staring at the twinkling stars surrounding the moon like it was their God.

'You're being oddly open tonight,' He laughed, his deep voice rippling like bells.

"I guess the rush of the fight is still flowing through me and the moon is really pretty tonight," I smiled.

'Will you ever tell me what your obsession is with the moon?'

".... I don't know... maybe... maybe not," I said standing up "Return from whence you came," My scythe returned to my finger. "I need to get home to White Bun,"

'Do you like him?'

"He's cute," A slight smile spread over my face.

'Even after almost dying by his hands?' Al teased. A blush bloomed on my face, remembering the situation.

'Well... He's fluffy... okay? And his eyes..." I stuttered, trying to defend myself.

'That's rare," Al laughed, amused.

"What is?" I shouted, turning my head to the side and crossing my arms.

'That you're flustered,'

"Leave me alone, I take it back, I don't miss your rude remarks!" I huffed, a blush still donned on my face as I practically stomped back home.

'As you wish,' His voice faded away as he dropped those last words.

*At The Inn*

"Miss!!" White Bun hopped into my arms as I walked through the door. I caught him placing a kiss between his brows. "How did the fight go?"

"You have so little faith in your mistress that you even have to ask?" I ruffled his fur with my burnt hand.

"That's true," White Bun puffed his chest up. "Do you smell that?" He stopped sniffing the air, his black button wiggling as he did. "It smells like burnt chicken,"

"It's rude you're calling my hands chicken," I said wryly. I placed him on the ground and showed him my palms. My previously white palms with light pink lines were now swollen and candy red. Blisters of various sizes strewn across the red surface, threatening to pop at any moment.

"Miss! What happened to your hands?" He yelled.

"You expected me to come back unharmed? Do your Miss a favour, you said you can control the temperature of water, right? Make me some cold water for it?" I grabbed a nearby bowl and placed it in front of him.

"But... Fine," He sighed in exasperation. He opened his mouth, a small ball of water forming he filled the bowl until it was full.

"Thank you," I smiled and dipped my hands in it. A cool sensation running through my palms, cooling each inch of scalded skin.

Afterwards, I put on some ointment I had laid around and bandaged it up.

"What's the plan for tomorrow, Miss? White Bun asked, poking his nose into my side.

"Probably take some more quests," I said, plopping on my bed with no care for my dust-ridden clothes and skin.

"But your hands!"

"I knew you would say that," I laughed "I guess I'll take a self-care day tomorrow,"
